My concern about taking sugar (= simple carbo) is purely based on the premise that glucose/sucrose, alcohol, recreational drugs, anaesthetics and paints work against the liver's capacity to manufacture precursor vitamins and amino acids.

Berocca used to contain heaps of sugar > shifted to 951 & 950 as many manufacturers of confectionery have > risky (health) business in the long term.

yeah totally agree but sugar has gotten a bad rap, yes our diets are probably too high in it but I'd rather raw sugar in my diet than carcinogens

I guess it looks good on the pack to say sugar free

I wish they'd just leave the sweeteners out of it and leave it up to the consumer to add

Stevia (aka Sweet Leaf of Paraguay) is the ideal alternative.

Maybe one should start a plantation!

Stevia:-

* natural sweetener

* reduces insulin resistance

* acts on the satiety centre of the brain to induce the feeling of fullness

Con = slight aftertaste - but not unpleasant to me personally

How much better (if at all) is raw sugar VS white sugar? I switched a while back and it wasn't an issue as far as taste goes. Granted I only drunk coffee maybe once a week and the odd weetbix breakfast with some sugar, but still no taste issue

You use sugar on weetbix? :O

I find they are sweet enough if having with milk given there is sugar in both to start off with :)

Terry - is there a good "all in one" multi-vitamin on the market?

Obviously it wont cover everything, but surely there must be something reasonable out there?

Yes I do. Hate weetbix without it. I also microwave them in the milk to make them soggy (not so much that they lose their shape though, 1:20 on my mums microwave does the trick)

But most mornings i eat oats anyway. Weetbix/sultana bran is when I'm lazy or short on time

And I take swisse ultivite. Don't know if it's the best on the market but it makes my piss neon green so it's all good

For guys who physically work out Ash, I'd use Tresos-B with Selenium.

I used to think that raw sugar was better than white - but now with its additives, they're probably just as bad as each other; but nowhere near as bad as 951 and 950 (aspartame & acesulphame).

On porridge, if not Stevia, then pure maple syrup (eg Camp) has less glucose than even honey. Honey can be healing on the gut, especially Manuka honey.

Easy for you guys to have sugar. Mr diabetic here has to switch to the cancerous stuff as an alternative. But now Terry has mentioned Stevia which I'm going to give a shot at. If it means better than Splenda/Equal..well that's my permanent switch.

Tresos-B + Selenium is bought from health food shops; made by Eagle. Stress B Forte is the same but Aussie.

Stevia is from health food shops too. Splenda is a synthetic sugar called sucralose which doesn't seem to have any red flags against it so far.

Hmm very interesting. I knew equal was always the baddie but I assumed Splenda would be in a similar boat. I will also check out Tresos-B+selenium; never heard of it but this had given me some broad options as I basically have 30g of carbs(mono/di/starchy) per day and rest come from green veges (fibrous carbs & dietary fib). Might as well do the keto diet lol.

good replies thanks Terry, I think I'll check out your recommended multi

I looove maple syrup but I'd go broke eating it all the time... I don't have a sweet tooth though, can't think of anything I sweeten on a daily basis... I eat eggs on toast for breaky these days, got it down to a 5min process... even with baked beans on gym days:)

same here, oats and milk nearly every day... If you have time issues in the morning heres something u can try.. put oats milk milo (even honey too if u want) in a blender and blend the shit out of it for about a minute or so....

they u can have a good breaky and just neck it before u run out the door... thats what i do most morning haha...

oats keeps u feeling more "full" i think aswell... plus lots of energy for weights.... i take swisse aswell... never tried any others but..

Was doing that a while back...They don't blend fine enough to drink like a normal drink, but a few chews with every sip got em down

yer it can turn out more like a chewy thick shake lol....

if u blend it longer again and vary the speeds i think u can get it fairly fine though..

either way its much quicker than actually eating them as porrige i think..

    • I just bent the ends of my premo plates. It even went through Regency like that after the engine conversion and the inspector (a great bloke!) just squinted his eyes and said "I didn't see that". Plates, and how they look, are just something that have zero importance to me.
    • Yeah, I would have said the same. It makes me suggest that there are other things wrong, such that the ECU is totally unhappy with the broken sensor. The only other thought here is that maybe it is shorted, which might cause a different issue to the typical "disconnected" sensor.
    • The fact that US/JDM plates actually fit the skyline bumpers properly is a big, big thing for me as they are the correct dimensions. Annoyingly you can't opt for a normal plate (or plate combination) in that size. You have to make up your own one, and at that point you'd still know it wasn't randomly assigned.
    • Well, really, that's any ECU, because it's not so much the ECU that the tuner connects to, but a laptop that's connected to the ECU. You have to have the tuning software installed locally. The "remote" part is essentially just remote desktop (RDP) or VNC type access. Nevertheless, if you're looking to upgrade, then you're immediately in the Haltech/Link territory, both of which can be done by any number of competent tuners here in Oz. But without a dyno, you'll definitely also need a wideband O2 sensor fitted, and you'll probably be relying on "auto" tuning a bit, where you drive it around under various loads and then apply the corrections that the ECU learns (basically applying the fuel trims that the ECU has to do to correct the mixtures). Tuning the timing is a little harder. It can be difficult to trust the old OEM knock sensors on RBs, so it is definitely best to have someone who knows what they're listening for, with knock ears (a piezo microphone connected to the engine, and and little amp and headphones so the listener can hear the angry men with hammers who live in the engine). That is more difficult to do remotely, and I suspect the only sane way is to be quite conservative on timing. But that's OK. You're probably waaaaay better off with conservative timing where you are. What is the fuel situation? 98RON available? Or low grade jungle juice?
    • I see your point, I didn't think too deep into it, was purely focused on the price. There's no bad blood between myself and GSM, they acknowledged the price was cheaper else where and at the time couldn't match it.
