ARGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHH Steve you bitch! Damn it, I go out for a few hours and look what happens

Steve, if you want to do some kind of a swap (with cash adjustment if need be) let me know mate. For your type of driving the 540's would be much better suited. It makes perfect sense to do a swap  We can chat about it at work tomorrow.

Either way, thanks for teeing it up Martin :P

Hey Matt, how's the single plate clutch holding up to all the abuse?

Have you noticed any slippage in 4th gear yet?

Cheers,

matt

A deal has been struck. Thanks Steve, you're a champ :spank: If all goes according to plan I'll be heading to AIR tomorrow night to see how I go :D

Matt, no prob's so far! Surprisingly the single plate has handled the job without protest. Then again I did manage to get over 20 passes out of the OEM Nissan clutch, some with 250+rwkw onboard.

AIR does have a website, but I can't remember what the address is? Try a search on SAU under 'AIR', as I recall someone posting a link not long back.

I'm gonna give it a good shot Steve! Just noticed GOT BOOST in WA ran 11.67 @ 120mph (1.6 60ft !!!) on 555R's, so even with my shitty driving skills I should go 1.8-1.9

Nice - I'm probably going to go os giken twin plate now. The singles just don't last! :spank:

Yeah - the Supra which ran a 10.9 ran a 1.63 60 ft with jap coilovers (ie stiff)... The nitto's are superb for that! You just have to rip a monster burnout to get heat in the tyres!

Cheers,

matt

That's the plan Joel. To get the Nittos doing their job you have to go for a big burnout. I'm ready to progress to Burnout Basics 102 :spank:

With over 350rwkw I can see why your clutch can't handle it Matt! With decent grip you should be looking at low 11's at least mate!

Yeppo!

All else going to plan (and it never does).. If I can get my 60fters down to a 1.6, I should be able to run a 10! :spank:

Realistically - low 11's would be good though!

PS - How are you on the gearchanges? Are you savage enough that it'll chirp 4th?

Cheers,

matt

Hahaha... you got in before I edited my last post mate. Yeah as I said above at the very least you'll go low 11's with BIG mph.

EDIT: Helps if I read ALL the post!

No mate I'm fairly soft with my gear changes. Quick, but not brutal. I never even get 3rd chirping! Unless the track is very slippery and my tyres aren't hot enough, in which case it doesn't just chirp it spins!

So when are you out next to test these nittos? I'll be very interested to see how low your 60fters get!

Cheers,

matt

Yuppo - I'm hoping to crack 125mph next time I go out.

Re: gearchanges - yeah same - I'm too afraid to be hard on the gearchanges as I'm afraid of the car going sideways at 100+ mph... Nitto's should sort that out though!

Cheers,

matt

    • Nah that is not actually a lot. Just painting my GTR frontend and the little bits to make sideskirts/nismo flare pieces work correctly/fit on the sedan/mount up correctly came to about $7000. Is it a lot? Sure. None of this is economical. Economy would be shelling the car and buying a 2010 Corolla to commute in. The perspective of all of this is different.
    • I have the re003s’ on my 06 XT Forester Turbo and I highly rate them for street wet and dry
    • I don't see any issues here. I've been saying all along this is a big job, the price reflects that.  When the car comes back perfect I'm sure it will feel like money well spent.
    • Remember, take original quote. Double it. Then add a bit more. It's how any project goes.
    • So, I started this repair and got as far as "fixing" the holes with some fibreglass. God all those years working on boats came back quickly. I decided I'd reach out to some rust guys just to see what they would say about it. I came across a guy about 40 mins away and went to see him. He said the windscreen needs to come out, that there might be some more bits around the windscreen and he'd quote them at the time. But his quote was $300 to remove and replace windscreen and $3k for the damage he can see. He said he could respray the roof for $1200 and the bonnet for another $800 (somebody has previously rattle canned it, its horrendous). This is $5300 + any small additional bits. It's a lot, I get that and the name of one of my fave youtube channels 'Not Economically Viable' comes to mind.  I'm not being financially rational, but I've taken him up on the quote. He's opening a new shop in November with more room, so we're waiting for that. I'll leave the currently missing headliner out until then. I'm looking forward to it being fixed and having the paint looking nice again (lots of clear coat issues on the roof too). / flame suit on.
