Hey bros, this is my very first thread/post here.

Just a little background info, I looked into a Holden VZ Sv6, but my bro has a VE Sv6 and he says it's a boring car coz he can't "fix" it up, so I'm steering away from it. I then looked into a BMW 330Ci, but it seems a bit to elegant for a guy like me... LOL.

So, since I'm in Victoria and can't have a turbo powered car, I have started looking into the Skyline 25GT.

The exterior: perfect!

The interior: needs a bit of work.

Engine bay/speed: also needs a bit of work.

So, what are peoples thoughts on the 25GT?

If I were to get one, I'd slap on a body kit somewhat similar to the Skyline in 2 Fast 2 Furious, change the head unit, install sound system, get neon footwells as well as boot neons, bucket seats, etc.

Any advice/info would be appreciated!

Go nuts, sounds like a good car for a P plater. Just don't spend anything on "performance" modifications and don't over-capitalise on the car with mods in general, because in 3 years you will no doubt want a turbo model or faster car and you'll have wasted a lot of money on the N/A car that you'll never get back. Also, there's a rule of thumb that goes something like...the nicer the car, the worse off you'll be when you have your first P plater love tap / run in with shit happens. So don't waste too much money, the sooner you start putting away money for your next car the better.

And get some comprehensive insurance :)

Personally won't bother with N/A Skyline, there's plenty of options out there.

But if you do rally want one, by all means go for it and as Birds said, don't waste money on 'performance' mods, pointless on N/A Skyline.

I was thinking basic performance mods like cold air intake, etc.

I heard the 25GT isn't the fastest car at all, but it doesn't bother me much, the looks compensate for that haha.

Can turbo's be slapped on to the 25GT's? Or is the engine not capable of withstanding the pressure?

And would there be any other cars you'd reccomend?

As the other guys said above.

not point wasting on a N/A Skyline.

You will get unnecessary attention especially on your P's.

Have you looked into Honda's range of P plate Legal Cars?

Honda DC2R would be a sweet P Plate Legal Car.

Yes, it's possible but then you'd have to upgrade brakes and such, money can better spent on buying GT-T in first place as they're similar priced these days.

What about a non turbo Supra?

My mate's getting one and they're pretty quick cars even when non turbo.

Haven't driven one personally (never 'had to' drive N/A on my P's), best for you is to drive both and gauge how you feel about them.

What do you mean by "unnecessary attention"? As in, cops pulling me over? If that's what you mean, I'll deal with it coz my bro gets pulled over all the time in his Holden haha.

Had a look at the Honda DC2R just then, not my type of car man, sorry.

I HATE THESE P PLATE LAWS.

Money isn't the problem, I have the opportunity to get a 330Ci worth 30k roughly.

Don't think I'm a spoilt kid though, I've worked for my parents every holidays since year 9 holidays and most weekends I work for them too on job sites doing some labouring.

What about S15 Silvia's?

Get a GTV. for some reason mine feels alot punchier than normal 25gts

Have driven a supra and straight line speed is the same as my GTV, but I left it for dead in the hills today.

As for mods, go for bolt ons that can be removed when you wantto sell and put on your next car etc.

S15, might be not a bad option, they're lighter to begin with.

Like I said before, test drive and see which you like better, cos you're the one going to drive it all the time not us.

You can. But you can only run a certain amount of psi (very low). as the compression is different to turbo models

@ Birds - P plates are now 4 years, not 3 anymore :P

@ maza - I drove a S15 the other day, although it's turbo, it feels so much more nimble and quicker off the line than my R34, although I know my R34 has more power. But I actually wouldn't mind having a S15 for a daily, it's small, light, and fun around corners lol

Personally, I would recommend to just buy a turbo car. I haven't had any problems for the last 3 years on P's *touch wood*. BUT...I don't want to promote law breaking so maybe consider an S2000 and slap on a nice exhaust, v-tec controller and some deep dish 20's. This can be acheived within a 30K budget.

    • The 296mm rotors are the R33 turbo brakes. The 310mm rotors are the R34 turbo brakes. The calipers are nearly the same, but not. They're the same caliper but the R34 caliper has longer legs so that it sits out far enough to go over the rotor. The pads are the same for both. When you say, "I bough tsome EBC"....did you just mean pads? Or rotors? 310mm rotors fit under 17" wheels. There may be some wheels without enough clearance though. I can't fit my fingers between the barrel of my wheel and the "corners" of my R34 calipers, but there is plenty of room behind the spokes. This is on Enkei RPF1. You can fit 324mm rotors inside a 17" wheel, but I'd be willing to bet that it would be close to impossible with the Nissan/Sumitomo caliper (using an adapter, of course), because the Sumitomo caliper is fatter than the Brembo caliper that is supposed to go on the 324mm rotors.
    • Hi. Can someone tell me what brakes(and mainly WHERE) can i buy brakes on R34 GTT? I bought some EBC which SHOULD go on my car(i have GT but it has GTT brakes) but it does not fit, Brakes are "too" small(296mm) Are 310mm be good or? I have 17 inch wheel so no "big boys" but for me driving i just need one that fits and i can get here in EU/Czech.
    • Since winter isn't that harsh anymore in Poland, i will definetely drive it 365 days a year 😉. But if the snow hits i will try it for sure and let U know. Only swap i am planning to do is of course R34 GTR front 😍.
    • Hey. Very valuable information about pitwork, I will pay attention when buying any consumable parts 🙏 As for the carpets - I got a handful of information from nengun, from which it appears that indeed the carpets for the driver's side are OEM. They are not able to show me any pictures due to the long chain of different sales entities but after I place the order, as soon as the goods arrive at the nengun warehouse from which they will send the shipment to me they can send me photos and if my purchase differs from OEM I can immediately return it / cancel the purchase. I think I will give it a try 😉. Of course i'll let you know what's what as soon as i get them P.s. I know the topic is not relevant to the thread, but both nengun and amayama have these SICK 😍 trunk room lamps available. Do you know anyone who ordered them? I need to have one in my car
