The Rego is up on my newly acquired R32, and I went to take it for a pink slip, and the mechanic didn't want to pass it as the sills were squashed, a common problem I'm gathering from cruising the forums. He wasn't a dick about it though, and I'm thankful he just said he couldn't pass it and sent me on my way without writing it up and sending it through to the RTA. So I am doing some work on fixing that up, and am wondering, when I am done, does anyone have a place I should go to that is Penrith/Blacktown way that they recommend as being good with Skylines/imports ?

I'm not really looking for someone to pass it no questions asked, I think apart from the sills the car is fine, and if it's not I kind of want to know, more that I don't want to accidentally go to place that is going to be tough on it unnecessarily because it's an import.

Cheers guys.

THIS!

My car had very visible tyne marks underneath

Japan just doesn't give a shit how they handle these cars lol. I too was surprised to hear how they get handled lol. In relation to this thread, I think every skyline I've seen has has rooted sills. I really didn't think this would impact a pink slip. I know a few places around Guildford who will pass you. Pm me if needed.

I really didn't think this would impact a pink slip.

normally it shouldn't unless there was a very deep & noticeable creasing along the rail where the jackpoints are

pretty easy to tell if it was due to a forklift as there will be symmetrical crease points on either side & front+back of the car

I didn't think it would, except for they were folded up along almost the length of both sides of the car. Thanks for all the suggestions guys, am getting the sills straightened back down, then looks like I have a bit to go on. Projects always crop up a few things that you aren't expecting, but it'll be worth it when it's done :)

    • Hi, I have a r32 gtr transmission. Does any of you guys have an idea how much power it will hold with the billet center plate and stock gearset? At what power level and use did yours brake with or without billet plate? Thanks, Oystein Lovik
    • Saw this replica police car based on a Mitsubishi Starion XX parked next to a 'police box' (it's literally a box) in Hirohata, Himeji City in Hyogo prefecture the other day. It's owned by Morii-san who is a local Mitsubishi Starion enthusiast. According to a local radio station blog post, he always wanted to make a police car himself based on ones he saw in his favourite Manga comics.  As it's illegal to modify a car to look like a police car and drive on the road, Morii-san tried many times to get permission from Aboshi police station headquarters nearby. They refused initially by after they got tired of that they granted him permission. However, the car can only be displayed on private property and obviously can't be registered as long as the police livery is present. The car was completed at a cost of 1.5 million yen (US$ 10,000) in addition to the car cost. A location was chosen outside Hirohata Police box where the car can easily been seen from the street. Morii-san has two other Starion road cars, both widebody GSR-VRs.
