ok guys copped a minor canary with no rwc cert

the list of attention says:

ground clearance of min 100 plus change exhaust to one that complies with standards

theres nothing wrong with my exhaust its aftermarket but dont know what vicroads need to check for that?

also my car has factory shocks with king springs (previous owner) and he pushed on my guard saying its to stiff when its factory suspension? and i heard my guard crack and as there aluminium there weak and i thought the f**ks couldnt touch your car?

No such thing as too stiff. The only defectable things when it comes to suspension are worn shocks (bounce before settle more than twice) or anything obviously illegally modified (chopped springs/bump stops).

Exhaust I assume means noise so a $40 noise check should resolve it. As for too much low, have you measured it? Is it too low?\

Also, what kind of car?

nah its not an epa it just says change exhaust to meet standards and it does. he said it needs to bounce when push it ive never heard of that. its a 34 gtr

What does it say you have to do to clear it?

parts of vehicle in need of attention:

ground clearance

suspension

exhaust

attention required:

to be min 100mm to retain 2/3 original travel

aftermarket exhaust to be replaced with exhaust that complies with standards

wtffff is wrong with my exhaust? nothing. and change to what its not an epa my exhaust is like any other exhaust so il go vicroads and say yep 100mm and my mechanic made my exhaust to comply with standards of absolute bullshit

Does your exhaust have a cat? And how loud is it?

you also have to take note of the second part of the bold text. you could get a 4wd hilux and lower it to be 102mm off the ground, but since it would have pretty much no suspension travel it would be illegal.

so going off what you said about it having stock shocks with king springs, it isn't running stock suspension like you said in an earlier post. it has most likely been lowered. if it hasn't been drastically lowered then it should still have at least 2/3rds of the original suspension travel.

oh and as for the ground clearance, even having a zip tie hanging down below 100mm can cause you to be defected for being too low.

it seems down south is tough with the laws, each time ive been pulled over they have never even thought of popping the bonnet or measuring the height of the car, lucky me..

but they seem to come up with some odd assumptions, my bro was pulled over for just accelerating past them under the speed limit with zero boost, a young officer said you were boosting back there,, as if comming on boost is an offence???? not his fault his car is quicker off boost than there camry shitbox.. lol pulled me over and reckoned i was doing a burnout, i was on 1500rpm .. as if.. gees...

this is exactly why they make me sick, get the db rating of your exhaust checked and get the person checking to write on the notice what exhaust it is, so they can see next time that it passes regs, go to a suspension place and get a written letter of what it has been lowered too, and suspension too stiff is an absolute fckn joke, if it is too low and to loud, then you have to cop is and not be upset, fair enough.

you should have it at 105mm to be safe

but if the ride height and db reading is fine, i would be absolutely flipping a berry if it happened again, keep the documentation and if the next time you get pulled over with the same crock of sht, then tell the new officer that this happened to you before and you passed everything(show him the exhaust and height test, and tell him your are going to send a letter of complaint as you have proved the car to be legal and he is just wasting your time and money.

also mad 082, 100mm is fine in this case as the defect states

to be min 100mm "to" retain 2/3 original travel

not or to

hence 100mm is min to retain 2/3 original travel.

but you are def right about the hilux

either way its not too much of a stuff around as you could pretty much drive in and drive out but pay the $40 for the db check anyway IMO and get the clearance checked.

get it signed off, keep the paperwork and you will be fine.

you may be suprised though, 90db is very very quite...

well thing is after the test i will be lowering it again.. sorry im not having a gtr and it jacked up off it tits

does decat involve with the exhaust ? they cant do emisions checks at vicroads so i dont think it will?

it doesn't matter how the defect notice is written by the cop, that actual law is that the lowest the car can be is 100mm, ut it must still have 2/3rds suspension travel. whichever is higher.

it'ls like the law for steering wheels. from memory it is "you can put on a wheel that is 1" smaller than the stock wheel, or 250mm in diameter, whichever is bigger". pretty sure that when i checked my 33 wheel, if i'd put a wheel on that was 1" smaller than the stock wheel it would've been smaller than 250mm, so it would've been illegal. however in the case of a kingswood, if you put a wheel on that was 250mm in diameter it would be illegal because it would be about 3" smaller than the stock wheel.

long story short, both conditions must apply, and in this case the condition which takes priority is the one that makes the car the highest off the ground.

im not too sure what the standard ride height of an r34 gtr is so i guess im not %100 sure what lowering it 2/3 lower would equate too either, but i am pretty sure that getting ir to 105 mm should still be legal in that sense.

from what it sounds like, your car is very low, so i would do what your doing and get a set of height adjustable shocks, up and down up and down hehe

as for exhaust, just get a hi flow cat, if you get an epa you wont have a problem. and no vic roads dont do emission testing, unless this has changed recently

Vic roads deals with the safety aspects ie. tyres, suspension, lights, ride height, seatbelts etc,

Epa deal with noise, emissions

Just remember anth, this was the moron that pulled you over last time since he remembered who you were. Just been prick and was trying his hardest to get your for something coz you upgraded to a GTR and wasn't impressed. If the pol officer was a tall bald guy then he is a f*k wit. Booked his own mother for speeding lol and deals with the north eastern suburbs.

you can't lower it 2/3, you can only lower it 1/3 (must retain 2/3 of suspension travel).

If you use the Nistune ECU, you will need to CAREFULLY read the available documentation for Neo tuning, and read some threads on the Nistune forums, to discover the various things you have to do to prevent the ECU from going bananas when the boost is too high. The is a table associated with th boost sensor that must be modified to prevent it from shitting the bed. This is just one of the things that you will need to do to the tune in Nistune, because the Neo turbo ECU will be expecting to see a number of things (such as the TCS) that are not there, and you have to block the DTCs on those. It is totally not surprising to me that you are having the problems that you are, but the solutions to these problems have been known for >15 years. So just get it done.
    • Hi. Sry iam not a mechanic and iam not at the car atm so i dont know 100% but they told they measure those and even try to change those. AFM they have two. Coils are new a they have my old one too. Plugs too. ECU...we have 25 NEO stock and Nistune 25 NEO.   But i dont know if any one those could be the problem and why/if/what can cause this, Only thing they did not check is fuel...but that walbro 255 is new(like 1,5 years)... That fuel pressure gauge idk...but i let them know Any suggestions?   EDIT: how can they know if it is like you say he ECU pull power when it reaches a specific boost level that is too high? Tha car has boost controler
    • Can you clarify what you mean by boost cut, do you mean it misfires both when under load (driving) and when stationary and out of gear? Or does the ECU pull power when it reaches a specific boost level that is too high (boost control issue)? Does it occur at idle with no throttle? When you say "the ECU is OK", what ECU is it and why do you think it is OK? Have you used the NEO ECU, and if so do you have a MAP sensor attached? Same for the AFM, why do you think it is OK? Do you have any way to put a fuel pressure gauge on it (even just a mechanical one between the fuel filter and fuel rail)?
    • Hi.. Just another problem. So maybe you can help. I(my mechanic) done swap from my RB20DE NEO to RB25DET NEO. Everything is OK but we have a boost cut. Coils/Plugs are ok...AFM is ok. ECU is ok. I have Walbro 255 but it "changed" sound few months ago(you can hear it ouside) you did not hear that when it was new(maybe faulty?) Sooo...what now? What can cause this boost cut? It is even when you standing still...
