Shake Shake Shake

So anyhoo Ive had the t78 on ebay for a few days now...just to see if there is any intrest..and because it looks look bloody hard to get it all to fit in nicely...and yep...reserve has been met :D

Sooooo on the hunt for something that is maybe a bit more responsive on the 1jz....thinking maybe a PT6262...but dunno yet...will see what happens I guess

lol...well 2 hours later the turbo oil drain is fitted....sounds like a simple job yes......LOL

1JZ Soarer = same a TT 300ZX lol

had to take out a steering rack mount bolt, turn it upside down, so the bolt head faces the sky and make up a washer for it.

Looks like the oil drain kit I bought is for a front or rear sump JZ and not the mid sump engine....oh well...its in now...goes around infront of the bottom radiator hose to make sure it clears the manifold (plus its a bit long)

Also discovered the front crank seal is leaking a bit (common JZ problem) so I am covered in oil after being under the car.

Now just have to elongate the holes in the manifold flange (lol flange) which will be fun using my pissy little dremel on stainless....mind you I have ported cast iron heads using it lol

The 6262 exhaust wheel will choke before you can benefit from the high flow front wheel.. I doubt you'll be able to run 30+psi on a gt35 sized exhaust wheel.. Id go straight to the 65 rear wheel and deal with a few hundred extra lag.. What gearbox you running?

Standard Auto Trans for now.

I wasnt really concerned abooooot the 62mm rear wheel, I am more worried about the small split housing.

But how much more lag will the 6266 have? At this stage it looks like the 6262 will only be 500rpm in front of the t78

Will only be turning to 7200rpm until I can build an engine....then It will go OVER 9000! (well more like 8000 lol)

As Lith mentioned in the precision thread plain bearings aren't known for reliability if I was going to run low boost I'd just go with something tested like a 3582.. If you have plans of building the motor I'd scarifices a small amount of lag increase and get the 65 rear then you have the option of turning it up later. If you go 6262 your limiting yourself for a few hundred rpm spool..

yeah, just found a few results of 6265s making 400+kws and reasonable response, so might be the go

MV kit I will probably get...but I am hankering for a manual box, so time will tell what i'm going to do there.

I do like corners more than drag strips these days lol.

I think I have decided on a PT6262 though, and will just wind boost into it until it stops making power...the auto will go pop before the turbo gets into its stride anyway. and 6262s have run 8s in EVO's so we shall see

+ I still have standard cams and head so a 6266 will be wasted on this engine.

will go something silly big if I build a 2J ;)

    • I can see between the water jacket and cyl 3 there wasn't a hard line of combustion gas. It certainly appears that the issue is coming from there. Yes, checked the tension. All at 100ft lbs where I set them 5 years ago. These blocks can crack but generally when they have been over bored. Mine is only 0.5mm oversize at 89.5mm. They break between cylinders around the 91mm mark. No sign of that with mine. My gut feeling is the head gasket lifted a while back when the studs stretched and i bandaided it by retorquing the studs. It's finally let go.
    • My Nismo 1.5 churps a bit on reverse turns when cold, but besides that feels like a stock diff.

    • So, version 4 intake is on its way I was looking at these a while ago but at around $200 or more it was a little pricey for something that might not work, but, I had it in my watch list, but, I got a message saying it was on special, and I had a code thingie to use, it eventually came in at $120 delivered, so BAM, BUY NOW.....LOL I'll need to have a look when it arrives but I feel it will "look" better than what I currently have, as it comes with a PCV fitting, so I will be able to get rid of the alloy pipe that goes to the throttle body with the PCV fitting  Well, that's what the voices in my head are telling me  Oh, and this happened today Yeap, it was a Trojan, and it was cheap, so I headed back to the hardware store and actually spent a little bit more on a heavy duty,  one that was actually recommended by a plumber mate, a Cyclone one with a fibreglass handle that is actually rated for clay The broken shovel will eventually be "modified" into a short handle shovel
