Tangles
At least now you know its nothing f*Ing up. Fit the gasket and get it tuned, even if its a low boost quick tune somewhere prior to getting it in to your trusted tuner. Bloody important mate, don't just 'wait', get a basic tune done, otherwise you run the risk of ..... Well, you know. lilcrash
I've still got over 300km until I even think about tuning. But at the moment it looks like I'm driving it over 800kms down to dvs to tune it. Tangles
Well then stop boosting it past a couple of psi (in my opinion undo the wastegate spring again). Sure, load up the engine but without boost. Detonation is Not your friend. Hitting 16psi isn't the right way about it. DVS JEZ
When u pull ur motor out send me ur ecu and i will adjust the timing map. Or Keep boost setting to a minimum, and adjust the base timing back 5 degree's Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/381350-thread-for-my-car-problems/page/32/#findComment-6278510 Share on other sites
lilcrash
300 km until I switch to normal oil. End of run in period. I haven't let it get over 3/4psi again. I've been very very careful. I won't have it off the road long enough to send my ecu to you. And I can't adjust anything without a password can I? DVS JEZ
There shouldnt be a password but u will need the diftware and a license. Just be careful with ur driving. Are u following any run in procedures? Did u get an oil analysis done ? lilcrash
Yeah. That's what I meant. I think I might just have to put my car into a mechanic to get the oil pump gasket replaced. It's just too big of a job to do it again. Yeah I just did what a majority of people have done. High load slowly increasing max rpm. Oil change at 100km and 1000km. The oil analysis came back fine. Rolls
It only takes a couple hours to pull the timing cover and all the ancillary belts etc off to get to the oil pump. lilcrash
it wasnt as hard as i thought it would be. i knew where all the bolts were this time so that kind of helped. almost 700km so far. DVS JEZ
But u have to remove sump to remove oil pump? Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/381350-thread-for-my-car-problems/page/32/#findComment-6279475 Share on other sites
zebra
you can wriggle it (the pump) enough to just clear the dowels, not the way I would do it though Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/381350-thread-for-my-car-problems/page/32/#findComment-6279510 Share on other sites
The Mafia
But then you risk a leak between the oil pump and the sump? I end up puckering my as$hole when reading a fair bit of stuff in this thread. Lol. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/381350-thread-for-my-car-problems/page/32/#findComment-6279528 Share on other sites
Rolls
you can wriggle it (the pump) enough to just clear the dowels, not the way I would do it though This is what I've heard you can do as well, be pretty easy to f**k it up though. zebra
Ye as Mafia said, re-sealing under the pump to the sump would be tricky at best Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/381350-thread-for-my-car-problems/page/32/#findComment-6279681 Share on other sites
lilcrash
We dropped the sump just enough to clear the pump, cleaned it up and re sealed it all. But it all went pear shaped this morning. I went to change the oil pressure sender over and it fell apart. So a mad push bike ride to the train station and now in on the train on my way to being late for work.
