So turboadam are you saying a single point on a larger circle wil still take the same time to travel a full rotation than a smaller circle?

Common sense would assume the larger circle takes longer to rotate

Your rim has a smaller circumference to your tyre, but of course they both take the same time to complete one rotation otherwise your tyre would be spinning on the rim. The cap in the center of your rim also takes the same time for one rotation. The speed is the variable as the circumference increases.

EDIT: I have not received anything offering suspension updates for an MY11 to this new asymmetric design.

my brochure for my 2010 says $4990 for the brake upgrade and $13xxx for the brakes + suspension

nissan must have changed the calipers 2009 to 2010

the extra 10mm on the 2011 discs comes from wider hats and then a different bracket bw the caliper and upright to push the caliper out 5mm, otherwise us 2010 owners wouldnt be able to re-use our existing calipers + pads in this kit

so the extra braking performance 2010 vs 2011 isnt really from increased surface area of the disc as one would initially think, but rather from the increased cooling effect by taking a longer cycle for the disc to travel one full rotation under the pad

when im due for front discs, ill just order the new caliper bracket and larger discs as 2011 spare part like i did upgrading my M3 brakes to the larger CSL discs

I'm confused now as to what the differences are between the 09 and 10 brakes for the $5K difference in the conversion..... And if the main change between the 10 and 11 brakes is just a caliper spacer then what do you change on the 09 to go to 11?. Calipers, pads and spacer? Can't imagine that if they're charging $5K for just the spacer that a caliper and pad change will add "only" another $5K. At the drive day Mizuno told me that a spacer was all that was required but I don't recall that I had mentioned it was from an 09 to an 11. He would probably have assumed a 10 to an 11. What's interesting is that when I bought my 09 I was told that a complete brake pad and rotor change would cost $20K for front and rear brakes, it appears now that if you wanted to go down the OEM path it will cost you no extra to convert to the MY11 brakes than what it would have cost to just re-rotor and pad your 09 back to original brakes!

And the increased cooling is primarily due to the increased surface area and (thermal) mass of the rotor. There is increased braking force for the same amount of brake pressure because of extra leverage due to the centre of friction being further away from the rotating axis but this does not improve temperature performance because the same energy is being absorbed by the brakes anyway you cut it. You are actually correct in a way about the "time" aspect even though you didn't state it clearly because if the pad length is the same yet the rotor is increased in circumference the size of the angular arc the pad covers is actually reduced therefore any point on the swept part of rotor surface actually spends a greater percentage of the rotation period time exposed to the air and less time under the pad undergoing friction and warming up thus improving cooling efficiency. It's effectively a change in the duty cycle. It's not hard to visualise if you just exaggerate things up to bike tyre size etc for it to make more sense.

09 upgrade includes new calipers

10 upgrade does not

i did a similar upgrade on my m3 when i was due for new front discs. i went with the larger csl front discs and they came with a different bracket bw the upright and caliper - caliper and pad are identical

i doubt the change in r35 caliper is a mounting issue. id assume its some internal change they made to the caliper itself, and in "upgrading" nissan figure you're better off with the newer improved caliper - remember there is a visual difference bw the 09 and 10 caliper in the lettering on the face

the rear seat delete means it'd have to be classified as a 2 seater - which means Nissan Aus would need to ADR it again ?

the bigger issue though is the Aus rrp - Nissan Aus in the 2011 model are now bringing in the base model Japanese GTR (all black seats and grey roof lining) to keep the currency exchange price rises as low as possible for the end consumer

this track pack would be pushing mid 2s easy

    • The question then becomes - was there any fluid coming from that hole before you did the rebuild ?    You may not have noticed, of course.   Depending on how you did the rebuild, the possibility has to be considered that somehow (cleaning ?)  fluid entered that hole and is now being 'forced'  out by small movements of the proportioning valve.   From the factory, there's actually a small rubber plug in that hole but with age and under-bonnet heat it's quite common for it to 'go missing'.  That rubber plug is designed to allow the venting process but also to prevent 'stuff' getting to the area (prevent corrosion, etc).   The plug is also not available as a spare part AFAIA. Personally I wouldn't race and buy a new master just yet but keep an eye on the area to see if the 'leak' continues.   If you're concerned about brake fluid damaging nearby paintwork, cable tie a piece of suitable absorbant material over the hole and remove/monitor occasionally.    Operation of the proportioning valve and the brake master itself won't be affected, but also keep an eye on brake fluid level, of course. In terms of a new master, the genuine part is getting expensive, unfortunately.  Amayama is showing AUD900+.   I was searching recently and there's an aftermarket part available from Japan made by 'Parts Assist': https://zenmarket.jp/en/yahoo.aspx?q=BNR32%2bBM50&p=1 Whether it's any good I have no idea, although in my experience Japanese aftermarket stuff is pretty good quality-wise.   The above site allows overseas buyers to purchase stuff more easily from Japan but there are fees and shipping costs, of course.   The original Japanese seller page is here: https://auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/p1197401228 Copper/Nickel is fine but I still prefer bundy tube and it's also cheaper.
