Hey guys,

First post on SAU, not a skyline owner, putting an RB25 into my VL commodore this week. Gives it that little more "rep" Than a SOHC 30.

Basically i have a VLC with an RB25, the vehicle is running and drives well, just has some, err.... Cosmetic damage. Currently stripping it down for the install on friday,

How in the fuaaaark is the 4 bolts on the underside of the inlet plenum removed? I litterally having nothing that will get to it. Because of the bogan spec wiring it has unfortunately i cannot get my hands in under the plenum runners to stick a socket and extension up. Any info on this noob matter would be muchly appreciated!

Thanks guys,

Jacob

Yeah man cheers, Going to have a beer and call it a day before I crack the shits, So ill have a drunken sleep and attack it tommorow with a more docile "hangover" mood lol Im an apprentice mechanic so i've got a Kingchrome top and bottom filled with cheap goods, So im thinking get under it with a 1000ft extension and come through the runners. Doesn't help that it fits very nicely with bogan stereotype and is on SSL springs, and with my.... build.... Im going to be dryhumping the shit out the cooler i think! Plus the wiring is giving me hell!! So much bodgeynessness!!

take off the left cam cover as it will give you a bit more room and a straighter angle, give it a crack from the top with ratchet ring spanner. If you have got one with the end the pivots on a hinge will make your life easier. Stil not easy butt i eventually got mine off. hope it helps mate

yeah what he said and will help if you got a ratchet spanner.Putting on is worse because you have to start it on the thread lol fun times.

Thanks guys will do, just left it on and ripped the motor. Had the intention to just throw it straight in, but seeing as it was in another VL, Im certain it would feeling similar to a slapped ass, so Im going to freshen it all up, unfortunately no mods until a bit later next year, but definately contemplating a filter relocation kit! What a whore to remove!

    • From the factory on RB26s there's a fitting on the intake manifold collector/"plenum" that provides pre-throttle boost signal. That's how they did it back in the day, I figure it's fine to replicate it.
    • I would be surprised if that wasn't the issue. It's probably telling you, that even if you remove the plastic liner, you may have some other clearance issues that may occur too in some scenarios. IE, tyre to guard. It looks like someone has already rolled the lip, but you may still have issues in the future IE, turning and hitting a bump etc. The fact it changes how bad it makes the noise when you are going backward vs forward is highly indicative that it's the tyre rubbing. They do make a terrible sound, even if you're only pushing a project car that has a liner hanging down on a tyre!   Has the car been lowered? If it has been, what is the measurement from the centre of the wheel hub to the lip of the guard straight up?

    • Mark's a bit smarter than people give him credit... He'd convince the person that is to become dead, to drive him to the forest first. That way his car has no evidence in it, and he's free to dispose of their vehicle permanently how he sees fit too...
    • But if you had to go bury a body in the forest, would you not put that in the boot? Most of them are >=90kg these days.
