Lads,

Thought i'd give people a heads up. Seeing as thought skylines are being pinched left, right and centre, i thought id post this info about a dodgy sales rep in the westside/northside area.

Today i went out to my car - just got into it - when some bloke and his partner/gf walked up to my car.. The usual "hey nice car its a GTR right? blah blah blah" So i said to him nah mate just a gtst.. He says yeah bro ive had these cars before they cost me way to much.. he then popped his head into my car had a look... i got out of the car stood between him and the door... I said to him "so what can i help you with" (we were just standing there) he says

"im door knocking for my fathers/uncles tyre shop in milton offering free servicing for 12 months"

he then gave me some bs story his father/uncle/owner of this shop invented bridgestone tyres.. This adds to my suspicion.. I finally say to him look im not interested im in a rush.. he says no worries and walks off down toward another house (which has imports in the drive way.. some belong to a fellow SAU member who ive just pm'd)

Too many things didnt add up

1. he said he was a rep, yet had no ID, didnt even tell me his name, was wearing casual clothes (shirt wasnt ironed, was hanging out)

2. His gf/partner was dressed in emo type shit smoking a cigarette in his car (looked very unprofessional)

3. he said he had skylines before, but thought mine was a gtr when its quite clearly a gtst

4. he said he lived and worked in brisbane... yet his car was a silver ford falcon with vic number plates

5. his uncle/father/relative invented bridgestone tyres?

6. Kept looking into my car until i stood in front of him

I took down his rego plate and took a photo of his car... Not sure whether to call local police to inform them of it..

If anyone wants further info about this couple - shoot me a pm... Plates were victorian XZI-039 - silver ford falcon

Cheers

Thankyou for the information notify the local police so If something is to happen they can be in the area, very strange indeed his story is shot to bits, at the moment for at least 2 weeks we all need to lay very low and keep our cars safe and secure treat them like a newborn child

Far out man, walked up right up to hey... They have no fear of being caught...

It's funny those guys. They are so blatant with how dodge they are and think we won't realise...

"Yeh I'm sure they will think I am a rep and that my dad made bridgestone tyres and that we will give them free services for a year. That ain't sus at all and people will think it's awesome and believe me".

WTF is going through their heads

we had some guys get into our secure parking at work, they drove round the back and looked in my car park (where my r34 usually is) they then cased my mates r33 then they realised they could not steal it so they broke the window on one of the ICT guys cars and stole 12 dell laptops in broad daylight and not one person at work thought to ask what they were doing.

I recently had a pedders rep door knock me probably three weeks ago

The difference between mine and urs is mine was actually a rep

1.He was wearing a pedders uniform

2.he had Photo ID and his drivers license ( because I quizzed him about who he was and what he was doing on my door step trying to sell me shit)

3.he had a pedders booklet showing me the deal he was offering And a range of new parts they stock

4.he didn't give a shit wat car I was in lol just cared about making a sale haha

5.when I said no he insisted on me taking a free booklet and business card incase I changed my mind

6. Over all he was professional about the way he approached me and wasn't just asking random qs about my car with his girl friend riding shotgun hahahah

Defari - I think u are right and u are being scouted mate that's way to SUSS and I would call the cops park ur car somewhere secure till this whole situation calms down

If u can't do this ^^^^^

Then remove the following

ecu

Drivers side front wheel

And the steering wheel hahahah

Also leave a note on the front seat telling them to have a nice day and ur not stupid ;-)

Realistically I wouldn't actually leave the note because it would provoke them to trash ur pride and joy :-(

lol, this is gold. I had 2 gentlemen try and steal mine from my garage, we went out to tea and my neibhour called me asking if i was expecting visitors, they had jimmied the rear door on the house open and were looking for the keys, which were hanging on the garage wall  Anyway, i was lucky enough to sneak home and me and the neibhour jumped my back fence and got the mongrels in the house. A little vigilante justice ensued, police were notified and a little more justice in the back of the wagon ensued followed by jail lol. I love country coppers :)

    • What 1.5 way? There's no such thing really as a 1.5 way, just different ways of explaining 2 ways with different ramp rates. HOWEVER. In any driving in a straight line your 1.5 or 2 or 1.7 way should have no clunking at all. With the clutch fully depressed the diff should be silent (unless it's welded but I'm assuming it's not). Something aint right here.
    • Clutch is a spec brand, new clutch system,( PP, flywheel, friction disc, etc. pull type) installed 100 miles ago, with no problems.
    • looking for some help and maybe some insight on others experience with a new LSD. R34 GT ran and drove beautifully, but always alot of grip loss due to the open R200 rear end, so I just installed a new 1.5 LSD way into the stock open R200 for a ER34. Simple. Everything seemed right. I test drove for the first time this weekend. as I started to back out the garage the first time slowly with tires straight it sounded and felt like I had a loose or half disconnected drive shaft...that was clucking around loose and shaking entire vehicle, and making it feel like the trans clutch was spontaneously slipping then grabbing very roughly while just letting out pedal slowly. I backed it out went to pull forward with the same noise, shake and slip grab feeling with hesitation, I turned the tires to back out more and then pulled ahead some same thing but worst because of added wheel resistance (which that I expected) puzzled … pulling it back in checking everything over and finding nothing wrong, I tried it the next day. same thing, couldn’t believe how it shook everything again making a terrible noise and making it feel like the trans clutch was slipping and grabbing, but I got it out of garage into the driveway, got it straight, drove forward and then reveres a few times in a straight line everything shaking , causing what felt like clutch slip and grab every time, sounded like right behind front driver tire and I could feel it in the floor board with my feet,... worst right when beginning to let clutch pedal out to engage slightly, shuttering and sounding terrible along the way…I managed to slowly get down the road, babying it the whole way, once I was rolling (out of 1st) seemed to be better and between shifts, then clutch felt closer to normal…not slip/ grab etc., but back down to any stop, straight road or turning, same thing. Made no difference if all tires were straight or if I was turning. All other gauge read out correct. with in 2 miles as planned I reached the empty parking lot and performed the break in procedure that came with lsd, essentially to drive in a figure 8 a bunch.  Did this, binding chattering, and shaking the car the whole way. I drove it back home seemed somewhat normal once I was in straight line and past 10 mph or so, and I know it will “bind” on corners and cause some tires squeal when turning especially from a stop, but when I begin to move it still causes what feels like the trans clutch to slip and jerk badly as well as shaking the entire car, and sounds terrible, that I didn’t expect. I used the fluid they supplied with LSD kit and did the breaking, planning to change fluid as they suggest after breaking, but wondering will it get smoother or less aggressive with use? maybe a 1.5 is just too aggressive for normal road driving?   I have a LSD that I put in my 71 cuda when I restored it, with amazing smooth , quite yet effective results. Different style LSD but that ones a joy to drive. maybe expecting too much from this R200?
