We'll, it's pretty clear in that video. I would say however, that Verge seemed to brake suuuuuuuper early to let him pass. I wouldn't be surprised if TR said they had some kind of fault at that particular point...

We'll, it's pretty clear in that video. I would say however, that Verge seemed to brake suuuuuuuper early to let him pass. I wouldn't be surprised if TR said they had some kind of fault at that particular point...

what not clear in the last video is that apparently a marshal is waving a green flag just before the johnny walker sign but is obscured by the graphics

that is the contentious issue

the flashing board and flag are contradictory

Formula 1's ruling body, the FIA, says there is "no case" to answer in the controversy involving Sebastian Vettel's overtaking of Jean-Eric Vergne during the Brazilian Grand Prix.

It confirmed exclusively to AUTOSPORT that it was in no doubt that Vettel's pass was legitimate.

Vettel was crowned champion for the third time at Interlagos after finishing in sixth position in an action-packed race in which he was spun after making contact with Bruno Senna on the opening lap.

Ferrari's Fernando Alonso finished in second position, a result that left him three points behind Vettel in the standings.

On Wednesday evening, however, Ferrari said it was reviewing video footage allegedly showing Vettel overtaking Vergne in a yellow-flag sector between Turns 3 and 4 early in the race.

The team stated on Thursday that it had written to the FIA asking for clarification over the matter.

FIA sources have confirmed to AUTOSPORT that the yellow-flag sector at Interlagos started at the light panel just before Turn 3, at marshal sector 3, and ends about 150m before Turn 4, where a green light panel is displayed.

However, there is a marshal's post in between these two panels and a green flag was being waved there on that lap.

Under the FIA's rules for the Brazilian GP, if a green flag is displayed before a green light - as it was in Vettel's case - it is the first green that counts.

Therefore, the FIA is in no doubt that Vettel's pass was legitimate, which is why race control was not informed of any potential infringement.

The FIA confirmed to AUTOSPORT that no team had asked for a review of the incident. The ruling body also said it does not comment on the stewards' decisions.

and that's the end of that.

Kamui Kobayashi could be off to Lotus next season replacing Romain Grosjean as the team seeks a more 'stable' driver.

F1 supremo Bernie Ecclestone: Vettel pass furore a complete joke

Well, you can't lie, cheat and steal your way into every championship can you

The rightful guy should retain his crown

I hope as a consequence of your reprehensible actions your factory burns down

Perhaps wih all those sour grapes, you can start a winery or something

Edited by ctjet

yeah taking out half the top 10, including 2 of the 3 main championship contendors in one fell swoop didn't have a major impact on the championship... because alternator.

that's how it goes, yeah?

    • Whilst the brewery had good beer, I didn't rate the pork knuckle, the meat was good, but, there was no crackling, the skin was just thick and chewy Will return at some stage for the beer, but, I will wash the beer down with chips Plus, no sauerkraut, in what world do people serve pork knuckle without sauerkraut, they did serve apple slaw with it, which was nice, but.......#sauerkraut the world
    • Wow yeah ok. Given how specific you are about your car, I'm very surprised you are happy to do that.  As a bare minimum, without having a wideband gauge in the car or running it up on the dyno to check mixtures, there is no way I'd do that to my car.  You beat me to it, was going to say just this.
    • Yeah - that's not true. Larger turbos flow more at the same boost. By definition. I've always found it funny when the claim of same flow same power because same boost is made. The turbine is larger, therefore will put up a lower restriction to flow at any given flow, cf the stock one. Hence, you need less boost to make the same flow through the whole system. Hence, when you have the same boost as before, you must have more flow. -5s are a pretty decent bit bigger than stock.
    • That's basically how I've been driving my R33 for a while now. GTIII-SS running wastegate boost. It makes no more power than stock because the turbos aren't flowing any more air than stock. Eventually though I need to fix this so it can actually drive as it should.
    • If this was my own car, I would pull about 5 degrees off the CAS, run a wideband, and if that seems ok, send it.
