I stumbled across t3/ t4 turbocharger (garrett comp housing) on ebay that i ended up buying for pretty cheap. It caught my intrest because of the housing sizes which seemed spot on for my needs, so i couldn't resist. it has been rebuilt with a .5 garrett comp housing. the rear seems to be some generic t3 .82 with a 5 bolt dump. The previous owner didnt know much about it, wheel trims ext. I pulled the housing off and measured the inducer and exducer of both wheels. If someone could teel me what this combination is, or what power it is good for i would be fantastic. it wiil be goin on an internally stock rb25 (if i use it), std manifold with a tial 44mm gate welded to it.my aim is for 260kw and up. do you thing this turbo would be suitible, boost response ect, mainly going to be used as drift car. aprox wheel measurements are:

comp side, inducer 48.29 mm exducer 70mm

Turbine side exducer 48mm inducer 58mm. Wich equals a 47 trim and 68 trim if i calculated correctly, which seems very small. i have attached some photos so you can see the wheel designs and housings. Any info would be very helpful. cheers guys.

p.s dont flame me because it old technology dinasure turbo, some combinations have been very successful in the past.

Lol, people that browse this site never learn.

Then they come here wanting power figures.

Put the f**king thing on and find out? Do we look like we have a crystal ball specialized in telling power figures on piece of shit eBay turbos?

was waitng for your post same shit on evry t3/ t4 topic i have read. Yes you can tell how much power a turbo can make , including it response(to an extent) by comparing its wheel diameters and shape to proven combinations. If u dont have anything constructive to say f**k from hear. by the way Ebay is a maket place they dont build turbos you dick.

Shows your intelligence. So what are you going to do if it only makes 200hp?

I ask again, why the hell would you buy a turbo if you've got no idea what it is capable of? You just bought it because it was a turbo? I didn't even read the specs and I can see an issue already with a to4 whatever the hell random ass front wheel crammed into a 0.5 cover. You know there are about 30 different kinds of to4 wheels right? T3/t4 means jack shit I'm afraid. Its probably still some Chinese shit.

If it doesn't fail, when it makes well below your dream target, let me guess, it's going to be the tuners fault?

I REFUSE to tune anything with an unknown turbo on it. Especially if I has come from eBay - the place where it's easy to take money from the uneducated.

my point exactly you dint even read the specs, and quick to jump to the conclusion its junk. and yes i do know there are many t04 wheels, thats why i posted it up in the first place , to see if anyone could identify it. End of the day i bought cheap and could get rid of it for the same price, if it useless on a 25.

He will take it off and replace it with a new t04e or better yer a kando turbo (another ebay turbo for the uneducated). A cut and shut on his dump and the rest of the described setup (gate off the manifold) will work a treat.

Actually I think this could be interesting, yet I think the 50 trim would be better. AND I think we can calm down a little as its not like he has come with his hands empty.. We know its a T04E based turbo and we know what the inducer and exducers are. With a little effort it could be easily identified and SOMEBODY is bound to know what that particular item is capable of OR atleast know to say its not good or unknown.

OP if you really want a solid 260kw from the described setup please read this thread:

http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/topic/347726-kando-dynamics-turbo/page__st__1380__gopid__6155230#entry6155230

And consider this turbo:

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Turbocharger-Kinugawa-TD06SL2-20G-w-T3-V-Band-Housing-10cm-/280776600350?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item415f96eb1e

By the end of next week the results for that particular turbo will be up, it will honestly be a safer bet than your unknown T04E... But there is nothing wrong with an old T04 in my eyes, yanks pull it off in a big way even today.

Most off the shelf turbo kits out of the US encompass a T3/T4 T04E type turbo.

Goodluck.

nothing wrong with some ebay turbos (kando) they make good numbers. i agree the t04e is no good its old tech and will proberly be cheaply built but then again slap that bitch on there and see what you get push 18 pound though it and you may get close but mega lag

    • What copper washer do you guys use on the bleeder bolts? The existing one I have I had no idea where to find it in a local store, I did buy some online but that are only 1mm thick whereas my old one is 2mm+ thick and when I put the new washer out and squeeze the top radiator hose I can hear a bit of air but not with the old one. Does this matter? The new one doesn't leak, but the inner diameter is a bit loose whereas the old one threads on the bolt.
    • Howdy all, after being out a few weeks ago on a spirited drive in my GTR I have 2 issues that oddly have appeared at the same time. Whilst accelerating quickly through the gears all of a sudden i’ve lost power at the top of third gear (below redline around 6000rpm) for no obvious reason.    From that point onwards the car has been running rich on idle, won’t really rev under load without a ton of black smoke and the odd backfire, and dying as a pull up to a set of lights unless I keep the revs up around 1500rpm. In addition when shutting down the car that same night (I was 10 minutes from home) I noticed one of the turbos was significantly noisy on wind down when shutting off the engine. After letting the car cool down overnight it starts up fine, although once it gets to temp the revs start to creep up and down, the exhaust is darker than it should be and it also sounds like it’s running rich (fat note) I’ve put a new set of plugs in it - no change, the old plugs all seemed OK with two of them being somewhat richer/fueled up than the other 3 with 1 being borderline. I’ve smoked tested the intake system via the front of the Turbos, found a split vacuum hose going to the factory boost gauge sender, which I have since replaced.  Also found another leak on the gasket coming off the rear turbo outlet, have also replaced this. After fixing both of these leaks - still have the running rich issue. I’ve also tried another pair of AFM’s - no change here After pulling off the front turbo intake pipes, there is obvious shaft play in the front turbo, which now hisses loudly on light revvs although I can’t see why this would make the car run funny even under idle. I’m curious to know why it’s running rich before I potentially replace/rebuild turbos. The car is completely stock <50,000kms  other than an exhaust. Oil and coolant are all clear. I haven’t bothered with coil packs as it looks like they won’t be the issue due to condition of the plugs. Any help appreciated as I cry myself to sleep!
    • No probs at all. I used to love trying to dig up obscure info for those in need where possible going back 20+ years on SAU.  I did have another look and couldn't come up with any closer match. I'm leaning towards those skirts in your first pic are custom fitments, cut down/extended or from another car entirely and modded to fit an R34 sedan. I would've thought someone in Japan had them and taken a photo at some stage over the last 2 decades but there's nothing. Someone out there must know surely.
    • Welcome mate. Any pics? Even with a DE I'd be well happy if I had that as a 1st car.
