Alright gang, need your thoughts on this one.

Got the corsair 720w psu for my new hardware after sorting out all the hardware warranty issues with the supplier.

So i have now got the new i52500k and running a 5870 GFX card.

Would you:

a. wait 2 months and buy the new 7000 series gfx cards?

or

b. crossfire the Gigabyte 5870?

If the answer is B, where the heck do i find another 5870?and is it best to stay with the gigabyte brand or can it be any brand just as long as its a 5870 so it keeps the performance going?

Legend thanks Madaz.

Just checked it out and i cant beleive how much they have retained their value. Still $299 at Austin computers here in WA.

Might also check the ocau forums. if i cant find one cheap enough i recon i will go the 7000 series.

Thats a rip off!

ATI-6950 can be bought for $269, and then you can reflash the Bios to make the card same specs as a ATI-6970 ($349)

If you really want another 5870 Id suggest ebay USA. $210 + $40 postage.

However Id recommend selling your current card and grabbing either 2x 6950's and reflash to 6970 spec, or waiting for the 7000 series although I have no idea how much they would be.

Yeah only the early cards can be flashed.

Also when the 7000 series launch is only the 7970 initially.

It'll be Q2 before the cheaper/mid range cards hit shelves, so closer to 3-4 months as opposed to 2 months given the soft launch was this week.

I'd say as well, wait for the Nvidia GTX7XX cards to launch, that might change the ATI pricing depending on where the performance sits of the mid range cards, but that wont be till Feb/Mar, possible Apr/May for mid-range

OK thats sweet then, as long as i can purchase before EOFY i am happy, get to claim most of my pc hardware so will prob jump onto it in May/June then. Yeah looking forward to see if NVIDIA can out do AMD this time round, good point about the price decrease happening no doubt when nvidia does release.

    • We have a huge update coming in the next few months, version 5 of Invision will be released. I'm holding off any changes until after this change as I'm not sure what features will be removed or introduced.
    • Yeah, plenty of air flow, there is a dedicated path that feeds the air in to the OEM intake tube behind the bumper As for a "tangible effect", maybe, but getting the pod/intake air out of the hot engine bay is worth it psychologically to me, even if it gives no performance difference, so the tangible effect in my Lizard brain saysss yessss  In the end, to me a tangible effect isn't always about performance, sometimes it a sound or a look, or even a...... feeling  Ooga-Chaka Ooga-Ooga Ooga-Chaka Ooga-Ooga Ooga-Chaka Ooga-Ooga Ooga-Chaka Ooga-Ooga
    • yeah first and reverse is where you will find clutch release issues (whether hydraulic or mechanical) because the difference in revs required is the highest there; particularly changing down from 2nd to 1st when still moving. To be clearer though, it is possible that the clutch release bearing is the wrong height. This is less likely than a hydraulic issue but it is not unheard of when you are mixing and matching

    • Hi all, Restoring r33 series 1 rb25det. All the heater hoses were on their way out, have replaced them and put it all back together. After testing I noticed a small leak from behind the head on the actual metal water line to the turbo when cars warm. I tried running a longer hose over it but it kept leaking...   I am about to take the (stock) manifold off again😔 to change the water line does any one have any lines they recommend? I was looking at Aeroflow Turbo Oil & Water Line Set but not sure what everyone else recommends. Car is completely stock but want to upgrade turbo eventually. it looks like ill have to disconnect a lot just to replace these lines so if there's anything else recommended to do please let me know. Thank you in advance!
