Hey,

Trying to keep temps down so would like to try a stock fan from a rb25 or rb26.

Currently have 2x 12" elec fans on a cheap alloy radiator, after i few hard mashes of the throttle, temp slowly rises.

Now,

Im just wondering what the differences between the two are?

I mainly interested in how far the fan protudes off the motor (i have minimal room between motor and radiator)

But any experiences with either fans accepted.

Thanks,

Dan

It will be the cheap ally radiator mate, I replaced mine with a stock GTR radiator and never looked back.

I was also running 2x thermo fans on the front (no aircon) as well as the engine fan.

Sorry, can't help with fan differences.

I found the cheap ally rad just heatsoaked horribly, after about 20mins on the highway the temp would start steadily climbing. Burnouts would get it hot enough to spit coolant everywhere.. put the GTR rad in and I could drop a 1-2min skid without throwing any coolant, temp never got over 105deg and would cool off reasonably quickly.

Something I have noticed with the newer engine fans is the blade count and design, must have been done for a reason :whistling:

Just a thought.. what water pump are you running?

i have a cheap alloy rad on mine no over heating issues, it dropped the temps and i had a GTR rad in there with 2 fans on the front, i still havnt put the shroud on either and its still sits below stock...... on another note my mate just had a similar problem for the last cupple of weeks wouldnt run right on startup sometimes and then slight heat issues at the track similar to your problem needless the say cyc 5 filled with coolant at the last track day so early days but dont rule out a head gasket issue

I wanna see where this goes. I experience occasional overheating in traffic.

I have a built RB26 in my GTT. Does anyone know if the stock clutch fan for a RB26 will fit?

FIT THE STANDARD FAN (the stock fAN AT 1500RPM WILL MOVE DOUBLE THE AIR ANY ELECTRIC FAN WILL.

same height.

32 gtr is straight blade and noisy. 33 and on is better.

This man speaketh the truth.

The stock fan will blow a veritable hurricane through your engine bay compared to thermos.

Been there done that.

    • Nah that is not actually a lot. Just painting my GTR frontend and the little bits to make sideskirts/nismo flare pieces work correctly/fit on the sedan/mount up correctly came to about $7000. Is it a lot? Sure. None of this is economical. Economy would be shelling the car and buying a 2010 Corolla to commute in. The perspective of all of this is different.
    • I have the re003s’ on my 06 XT Forester Turbo and I highly rate them for street wet and dry
    • I don't see any issues here. I've been saying all along this is a big job, the price reflects that.  When the car comes back perfect I'm sure it will feel like money well spent.

    • So, I started this repair and got as far as "fixing" the holes with some fibreglass. God all those years working on boats came back quickly. I decided I'd reach out to some rust guys just to see what they would say about it. I came across a guy about 40 mins away and went to see him. He said the windscreen needs to come out, that there might be some more bits around the windscreen and he'd quote them at the time. But his quote was $300 to remove and replace windscreen and $3k for the damage he can see. He said he could respray the roof for $1200 and the bonnet for another $800 (somebody has previously rattle canned it, its horrendous). This is $5300 + any small additional bits. It's a lot, I get that and the name of one of my fave youtube channels 'Not Economically Viable' comes to mind.  I'm not being financially rational, but I've taken him up on the quote. He's opening a new shop in November with more room, so we're waiting for that. I'll leave the currently missing headliner out until then. I'm looking forward to it being fixed and having the paint looking nice again (lots of clear coat issues on the roof too). / flame suit on.
