LANDSCRIBBLE
I've spent hours attacking the bolt on the top right of the gearbox. Far out.. Looks like i'll wind a bolt back in on the bottom and take it out with the gearbox. All i want to do is change the sump. I cant remember but do i have to take the clutch/flywheel off to get the sump off? Its the first time im taking the motor out by myself. Thanks. GTR_JOEY
First of all get the car as high as you can, To get that bolt get a jack to take the weight of the gearbox, undo your 4 14mm gearbox mounts and lower the gear box just far enough that it doesn't pinch the rubber drive shaft seal.. This will give you enough room to either get a ratchet spanner in there OR with the help of a mate come from the back of the gearbox with a heap of extensions and an elbow or two.. You guide the socket onto the bolt while your mate uses a ratchet to undo it from the back of the box... Know what I mean? portaz
My 32 Gtr took about 8 hours! Was a massive pita no way engine would come out with box attached I'm told the Japanese do it in an 1.5 hour period but dropping it out from underneath, my last one was quicker but had to take it easy with this one but I would never call a Gtr an easy job though Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/388552-gtst-engine-removal/page/2/#findComment-6747448 Share on other sites

I've taken the engine mount nuts off aswell, but still cant get the socket anywhere near the bolt. Might need to use some 3/8 extensions instead of 1/2". portaz
I use a small 14mm spanner and elbow grease generally don't loose too much blood but I found the 33 easier than 32 Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/388552-gtst-engine-removal/page/2/#findComment-6747701 Share on other sites
