My story is was on freeway, and there was debris on the road, a sheet metal, first big truck in-front of me ran over it and couldn't see it in time to avoid it so i ran over it and my tyre pop , puncture right on the side wall or near it and can not be repaired.

question is can i call vic roads and explain the situation and send them the bill for new tyres because they the one supposed to monitor and keep freeways cleans to prevent this stuff from happening (or who is responsible local council), will it work or they cannot do anything about it?

or i have to get it fixed and no one is to blame :(. so sad because i saved lots of money to get truck licence and this happens :(

goodluck with that, sadly more then likely it came off a truck also,

even if you had a case it would take months and big money to even get to court,

sadly its just one of those things, as it was debris; most likely from a truck, it wasnt a power pole or street light that was on the road.

If every person who ran over material or hit an oil patch was to sue the local council it would cost alot of time and money. ALSO if you got to court they would argue that it was your error of judgement to not avoid the obtrusion.

You will be better off just paying for new tyres and going about your business, I had a bad luck with buying my car, got it cheap but still didnt expect the engine to be sick, so I have had to do a rebuild already after just buying it.

Sadly its just life.

IF you went INTO vic roads and the manager laid into your car with a baseball bat AND you got it on camera AND sent it to ACA/TT.............

they would do a story on "hoon car breaks gov't employee's baseball bat" and you'd probably be hit with a bill for a new bat.

welcome to Victoria

Vicroads can't be held responsible as it more than likely (most definitely) came off the back of a truck, which can happen at any time and they can't monitor this any more than you can. In the event of this, if you see the truck it comes off and take note of their details then you can hold them responsible for the damage, but if it was already there on the road and you simple hit it...yes, bad luck for you :(

Where councils are concerned, is with regard to things they are in control of and responsible for maintaining over the long term, e.g. bad potholes, falling branches from overhanging trees that should have been cut back. Even then, as Hamish said you're likely to cop a bill in the mail for the tar to fix the pothole or a notice from the EPA for taking out a tree branch.

    • Drain it. I got official Matic D but you can get whatever is listed as Matic D compatible.
    • Thanks guys,  Yeah I should at least have them dynoed, at least then I know what I've got as a starting point.  The springs on these are hard as rocks. I vaguely remember Russman saying he was going to sell the shocks to me with the rocks fitted, as he was keeping the softer springs for his new setup.  I didn't click at the time but of course that was to let me know the shock/spring wouldn't be matched.  I also remember pricing up new springs around 2014-15, but, house, money etc. it never happened. So that was another reason to have them rebuilt. I have rebuilt the forks on many motorcycles so I think I could handle the seals on these easily enough, but getting the valving right would be a rabbit hole I cbf exploring.  Duncan, interesting to hear RP was tuning these back then. I might give them a call.  In the mean time I have been busy fitting sway bars. The Whiteline rear sway bar I purchased 15 years ago finally got fitted, along with the Whiteline front bar that showed up last week. Just waiting on new links for the front sway bar to finish that off.  And my spare set of advan AVS VS5's should be back from the powder coaters in a Pearl White finish sometime this week, with a set of Hankook RS4's lined up for fitting.  And then I just have all the suspension bushes to do. A comprehensive kit is on the way... Lots to do before the Ararat hill climb. Cheers guys 🍻
    • Nice car! I’m glad folks in the US have gotten past the FnF and are buying real cool cars like the 260RS I was with a bunch of mates in Portland about a year ago and spotted a green Stagea (just a regular 2.5T AWD) parked about 2 blocks away and they were like “a what?” So I made a bet with them for a round of beers and said “ok one of you run down there and tell me if the steering wheel is on the correct side” 5 mins later the American comes trudging back up the hill and goes “he’s right guys. Ok what beer do you want?”
    • Should replace OR drop the tank, give it's good clean. Might be worth replacing that entire fuel level/pump/cradle thing with this: https://frenchysperformancegarage.com/products/fpg-s13-180sx-r32gtst-single-pump-hanger-kit-billet-hat-6-v3-fpg-089?gQT=2
