i agree with your comments. $200 is a lot just for a logo, considering there still printing costs etc to be paid for should we choose XYZ logo @ $200, they look good resized. i saw the original pdf and it looked crap, but now that ive seen a resized one it looks good (the orange / purple ones). anyway good for some ideas i guess

Great designs ted especially the first 2, those lights with the SAU logo (as previously posted) would look nutz.

Was very disappointed to here that your friend is trying to SELL these ideas, to a non-profit club, but i guess that's business.

TO EVERYONE:

We are looking for FREE ideas, as to get the club underway. So from here on;

Do not post or send your ideas/designs, unless you are willing to freely offer your art-work to the club.

It takes a little effort to design a good logo, but just consider what the club has to offer; cruises, technical help, socialisation, a place to buy and sell parts, and the list goes on. A small contribution in time, to design a logo, is just a drop in the ocean to the contribution commity members freely give to organise and run the club and it's events!

i'd be scared to use your friend's designs for ideas or aspiration lol, graphic designers have this thing about originality and copyright. If she's willing to do it for free then yeah more ideas please. If not then there's no point persuing that avenue.

ted: I am hoping you can persuade you friend to donate the art-work to SAU as a favour to you. We may not even end up using the design, but on the other hand we may want to use part of it.

Shan: I suggest we remove the art-work as to not influence any new designs, till such time when it is donated (if ever).

It was a little big, but we need to make that point clear to everyone else. I am sorry, but i do not consider asking $200 for artwork as helping.

She is trying to do business with a club that has no funds, and as you stated previously the money could go elsewhere, such a the club banner, membership cards, t-shirts, etc.

This was not directed at her, NOTE: "TO EVERYONE"

i read my friends email as $200 for the final logo.

i dont know what it works out to for up until now etc.

if you guys dont want to even consider using anything shes done or seeing her other ideas, let me know and i'll say thanks anyway.

thank youyr friend for her time n trying to help, but as I said before, we were expecting a design that was free, at this stage we simply cannot afford to spend any money on something as insignificant.

It doesnt have to be donated. We can pay, but how much is debatable.

$200 is a bit rich. If it were like $50 or something then yeah, i'd just pay it out of my pocket.

What is $50? I'd be willing to chip it up for SAU. It's only money for gods sake.

Not as if im going to miss it, i'm sure there are others out there who are of the same view.

I dont like that 'GTR' style 'SAU' logo.

Personally i think it looks like a poor imitation of a logo because we cant desgin something ourselves. I aint good at this stuff but thats my feed-back for ya.

skylineakt- that looks good. Something like that i think looks pretty decent.

We have to have Vic, Vic-club, Vic-Division... something like that, somewhere on it IMHO.

Whether it be embroided afterwards or not, it has to be there (on the caps that is)

You did say this was a SAU-Vic logo thread... but hardly any designs incorporate vic into it.

For t-shirts etc, we can do our own. Since when did we need 200 for t-shirts?

The MAS ones we only had like 50 of, so we can do an logo with 'VIC etc' on it easily, and for relatively the same cost too.

ash, the order of 200 is for caps only, tshirts I'm sure James can handle, besides I think people are sick of buying more n more tshirts whenever we redesign em. I can get low volume ones done, but they are a LOT cheaper when you do em in bulk lots of 200. and since they're one size fits all its not really hard to make up those numbers acrossthe 4 major states where SAU is starting up.

as for the GTR style, yeah I agree its a bit unoriginal, but I made it that way so that people could recognise it easily.

And yeah I hadn't gotten around to doing the VIC thing at the bottom (mainly coz I hadn't drawn a V in the skyline style yet lol), my bad, but yes the logo must be made with a VIC in it, but one that can be removed (in case the other states want to use it as well). As I said in previous design threads, a free hat or beenie will be given for your efforts.

A further email from my friend:

Hi Sarah,

I've just gotten off the skylines website and had a read about what the guys had to say about the logo. I am willing to 'donate' the logo under some conditions. This is only to protect the integrity of the logo and make sure it is used as supplied and intended. (Sorry it's a designer thing!)

I guess the conditions are that as long as the time I am spending on the logo and other material doesn't get out of hand: i.e. too many opinions lead to too many changes etc! So maybe if you can leave it up to a few representatives of the club to decide, we won't run into any problems.

If there are any funds however little that can go towards the logo and the time spent / compensation that would be great. If not, I'm sure that something can be arranged. Skylines Australia seems like a great club / forum for all its members and suppliers.

Have the club ever asked the businesses that are advertising banners/ads on the website to contribute to sponsorship etc. I think that that may be a good way to generate funds for further SAU causes. As they the website has probably generated extra business for them.

Anyway, let me know what you think.

M

let me know what you all think.

Sarah.

hehe "designer thing" I can relate

As for changes etc, I should be able to do most of that once a general logo is submitted, its not that hard to fine tune the graphic.

as for advertising/banners, they do contribute financially to the cost of running the forums. Also you have to keep in mind this is for SAU-VIC, not the forum which is composed of an SAU branch in every statecoorporate placemen, tmarket penetration, forum integration etc etc). All we need is a logo design so I can incorporate it into all our stuff.

So basically the work of the designer ends when the design is submitted, we can handle the rest. If your design is chosen you get a free cap, and I guess an extra credit in your portfolio :) I'll put it forward to the members and we might be able to give you some financial compensation (ash has $50 on offer I think :)) but I can't gurantee that.

    • What 1.5 way? There's no such thing really as a 1.5 way, just different ways of explaining 2 ways with different ramp rates. HOWEVER. In any driving in a straight line your 1.5 or 2 or 1.7 way should have no clunking at all. With the clutch fully depressed the diff should be silent (unless it's welded but I'm assuming it's not). Something aint right here.
    • Clutch is a spec brand, new clutch system,( PP, flywheel, friction disc, etc. pull type) installed 100 miles ago, with no problems.
    • looking for some help and maybe some insight on others experience with a new LSD. R34 GT ran and drove beautifully, but always alot of grip loss due to the open R200 rear end, so I just installed a new 1.5 LSD way into the stock open R200 for a ER34. Simple. Everything seemed right. I test drove for the first time this weekend. as I started to back out the garage the first time slowly with tires straight it sounded and felt like I had a loose or half disconnected drive shaft...that was clucking around loose and shaking entire vehicle, and making it feel like the trans clutch was spontaneously slipping then grabbing very roughly while just letting out pedal slowly. I backed it out went to pull forward with the same noise, shake and slip grab feeling with hesitation, I turned the tires to back out more and then pulled ahead some same thing but worst because of added wheel resistance (which that I expected) puzzled … pulling it back in checking everything over and finding nothing wrong, I tried it the next day. same thing, couldn’t believe how it shook everything again making a terrible noise and making it feel like the trans clutch was slipping and grabbing, but I got it out of garage into the driveway, got it straight, drove forward and then reveres a few times in a straight line everything shaking , causing what felt like clutch slip and grab every time, sounded like right behind front driver tire and I could feel it in the floor board with my feet,... worst right when beginning to let clutch pedal out to engage slightly, shuttering and sounding terrible along the way…I managed to slowly get down the road, babying it the whole way, once I was rolling (out of 1st) seemed to be better and between shifts, then clutch felt closer to normal…not slip/ grab etc., but back down to any stop, straight road or turning, same thing. Made no difference if all tires were straight or if I was turning. All other gauge read out correct. with in 2 miles as planned I reached the empty parking lot and performed the break in procedure that came with lsd, essentially to drive in a figure 8 a bunch.  Did this, binding chattering, and shaking the car the whole way. I drove it back home seemed somewhat normal once I was in straight line and past 10 mph or so, and I know it will “bind” on corners and cause some tires squeal when turning especially from a stop, but when I begin to move it still causes what feels like the trans clutch to slip and jerk badly as well as shaking the entire car, and sounds terrible, that I didn’t expect. I used the fluid they supplied with LSD kit and did the breaking, planning to change fluid as they suggest after breaking, but wondering will it get smoother or less aggressive with use? maybe a 1.5 is just too aggressive for normal road driving?   I have a LSD that I put in my 71 cuda when I restored it, with amazing smooth , quite yet effective results. Different style LSD but that ones a joy to drive. maybe expecting too much from this R200?
