Im having issues with my volts, on my turbo timer it shows the voltage and on a charged battery its like high 13v or else it sits on 13.1- 13.3 at max. is there any way i get make it have a higher voltage and more constant? and when i turn window heater on and fan it drops to 12.7/8 and my car struggles to idle or even drive as its just popping heaps. Also when i drive its just constantly like popping or just cant cruise at any speeds without it like gurgling and spluttering. any ides?

one last thing haha when my car idles i have this faint ticking noise on the engine and then when I put my foot down i gets loud, usually after boost kick in.any ideas on these issue?

thanks heaps in advance :D

check belt tension and battery condition/voltage.get ur mate to check voltage drop.the ticking noise could be a wrongly installed spark plug or faulty coil pack.by the sounds of the way its performing i would be checking those things first.

My voltage will sit around 13.1-13.4v (idle) and I don't have any problems, but I've never seen it dip into 12.x before.

It may be worth cleaning out the AAC valve (R32s it's not as easy to do as later generations), since when the heater or aircon is turned on, the ECU will compensate by opening up the AAC to let more air in.

Sounds like the ticking is gasket related. Back when I didn't know much about skylines, my car had a ticking sound which drove me insane. It was the injectors and its normal.

Ticking isn't bad, a knocking sound is always a concern.

Yer when it drops it cant hold any idle, but ill check the ACC

Ticking sound could be leaking turbo gasket.

is there any easy way to figure out if it is?

    • Yeap, all the NC's that I originally looked at that had a hard top were PRHT, which makes the roof line look horrible, hence why I said nope to them My only caveat for another MX5 was it needed to have a hard top, and initially I didn't think you could get a detachable hard top for the NC,  like my NB had Again, a big thanks to Matty for helping me source the detachable hard top for my little girl, they are as rare as hens teeth in Australia, and the few people who have them, keep them Also to Greg, for initially pointing me in the NC direction NC PRHT 🤢🤮 Not mine (I really should take more photos of my car), but a NC with the detachable hard top 😁 To me, the difference in how the detachable hard top roof line looks, and how it actually follows the bodies lines, like they do on NA's and NB's, is chalk and cheese compared to the bulbous looking PRHT

    • Heater wasn’t working in my 32  so I decided to pull my dash out ( sounded like a great idea at the time) so initially I was sure the heater core was blocked. When I pulled it out turns out that the heater blower actuator was cable tied so it stayed shut and this prevented the heater core from doing its job as well as flowing. so currently the dash is out the heater core is out and seems to be fine but I think I’m in over my head  and need someone that knows what they are doing to take over and get it finished. I’m located in mt Annan, nsw 2567 if anyone has any ideas or suggestions please let me know
