As some of you may know the NSW CAMS Supersprint Championship introduced Time Attack classes.

If you interested in competing or want to practice for the Superlap it could be perfect place.

The classes are same as Superlap: Club Sprint and Open.

If you want more info you can find it on

http://www.supersprints.com.au/

Have fun

Great atmosphere and people to run with, pity they did not have this class a few years back.

Personally I would wait for the stamp on type 6 from CAMs, if you want to get a record or trophy - hope it goes ahead.

Cheers

Problem they will have with type 6 is unreg vehicles in NSW obtaining logbooks.

For cams to add a "time attack" category to there needs to be a time attack association that apply for it to be added.

The majority of time attack vehicles are not rego'ed and alot of the aero does not fall into the general requirements in the manual of Motorsport.

The manuals general requirements are written with collaborations from cams staff and liability solicitors/insurance carriers.

So there is no way that monstrous aero will be "log bookable" just because it's time attack

So considerable amounts of cars would need the aero cut down to fall within the general requirements which type 6 would need to adhere too.

Then you still need a "time attack" category to log book the cars under so that they can run in NSW. Rego vehicles no problem obviously.

I've had a couple of cars knocked back at inspection time due to aero that's outside the sports sedan regulations which is what we've been trying to register the cars as.

One GTR this week was rejected due to the rear wing being too high, wide and far back. Front and rear undertrays being too long and spliter too long.

It can't run at the NSW states without a log book. It can't be logbooked as anything currently. There can't be a time attack category to log book without a time attack assosiation to apply for a category.........

Visious circle

Not to mention that there aren't actually many time attack cars that could move out of the workshop they are sitting in under their own power :pirate:

Anyway......who from SAU is doing the sprint series this year? There has been a few people in previous years but it looks like it is falling off pretty badly now?

Are you and Duncan running Marek?

Haven't you had your fair share of broken bits as well Duncan?

I'll be running this year in the Clubsprint class. Getting ready for the WTA again

Hi Brad

Did you get my PM?

I've registered again for this year. I've competed for 3 years now and it's a great competition and I've made lots of friends.

I don't think I'll be able to commit to doing every round like I did last year, but I'm hoping to do at least half of them.

One thing I am worried about though is the track progress (or lack of) at Eastern Creek. With all this rain they have been delayed alot. Not sure if they will have the South Circuit finished in time for some of the scheduled events.

Heard a rumour the track work won't be finished until later this year like Aug-Sept.

anyone know if round 1 is still accepting entries? even if you havbenmt registered for the season..?

Yes Chris. Entries are still open to non-registered competitors.

Entry form found here: http://www.supersprints.com.au/forms/entry/R1%20Entry%20Form.pdf

so.. is there going to be a protest to the type 6 credentials? i mean, not by the obvious people posing the questions, but by the faceless paddock people for which the said people are apparent reps? wish i had a time machine, we could go back a few years and tell the time attack people they have a totally illegit. sport. sort of going quiet on that front for some reason.

CAMS operates on a completely different basis to AASA. CAMS is the old mate conservative establishment, AASA goes where the demand is. Must suck to be in a CAMS dominated mexican state if you are not part of the CAMS incrowd :P

Run what you brung - but if it doesn't fit, don't winge about it

    • So either way it is gearbox out and look what is wrong?  I know about the input shaft bearing. Even before swap/new clutch the it sounded exactly like this: So is that inout shaft bearing or the other was installed backwards?  And can some please tell me the part number for that input shaft bearing? The gearbox is small box from R34 N/A and number is FS5W71C. Thank you
    • I am yet to see anyone ever regret a quaife or helical. ...other than drifting/skidpan duties. I kind of want to upgrade my factory helical with a Quaife (but really it's not ultimately that different, and is a MASSIVE UNDERTAKING), that's how good the hype is about them, that I want to try them 'just to see'
    • D2 and Ksport are essentially the same thing and basically just generic Taiwanese manufacture. Better than ChinaBay crap, but... not top shelf. Öhlins have got to be some of the best dampers around, so likely to be a good option. It's going to get to the point though where I suggest you buy from Oz. We have at least 2x excellent options here. If I were you though, I'd be talking to KW about doing something for the R33. There's bugger all difference between that and the 32. In GTR land, anyway.
    • KW only offers a set for the R32 GTR. Popular options are D2 racing, Ksport or Öhlins. I have a D2 Racing coilover set, though I don't know for sure which one.
    • Well, the good news is you have more than one very good option for new coilovers in and around your country. Worth the drive over to KW to talk about GTR stuff.
