lwells
Hi peeps, Wondering if someone out there with 1337 photochop skills (well, better than my non-existent skills) would be kind enough to chop a set of Volk TE37s in gun-metal onto this R32 GT-R for me -- I'm afraid this is the nearest to a side on shot of a gun-metal R32 GT-R I could fine -- if you have a better one, feel free to substitute: And now the wheel: The colour is a little off, it looks more like this: Thanks guys -- just trying to work out if they will look good, or clash One final thing, is anyone sure what the widest rims you can legally fit an R32 GT-R is in NSW without engineering, and furthermore, what the cost of engineering might be? Laurence
They will look totally off their noodle... Best looking combo you can have! Ignore my 2 second photoshop job... they will looks fantastic. p.s. You do realise the R32 non-projector headlights are much cooler than the projector ones. One clown referred to them as N1 headlights!???? He could have been right. Anyway, they are different, so keep them! lwells
Engineering is about $400. click here for wheel modification legalities. Thanks, although I think that has made me more confused. As I understand it, the widest and largest wheels fitted to the R32 GT-R were the BBS's that came on the V-spec 1 and 2, and they were 17x8s. Now according to this doc, vehicles with an unsprung weight of 1201kg and over -- which I assume the R32 is -- are allowed to go up to 2" over the largest wheel that was offered on the car: in other words, up to x10s. But, and this is what I don't get, your only allowed a 25mm increase in track-width.. Now track width seems to be measured from the centre of the rim on the left, to the centre of the rim on the right. So you halve the increase in rim width, then times by two, correct? In otherwords 17x9s = 1" increase in track 17x9.5s = 1.5" increase in track 17x10s = 2" increase in track With 25mm (1") being the widest increase in track, the widest one could legally go on an R32 GT-R would thus be x9". Is that right or am I just completely wrong? Gojira: Thanks, I reakon TE37s are awesome, but I am trying to work out if the gunmetal grey TE37s would work with a gunmental R32.... Your photochop makes them look almost bronze/gold Edit: My car has the projector style lights, which I prefer. I will be modifying them anyway for bi-xenon so I need the projector style Lucien. lwells
please tell me your car is not realy parked on the beach That's not my car. It was the only side on shot of a R32 GT-R in gunmental I could find, so I ripped from somewhere on the interweb. LW. Is that right or am I just completely wrong? Sounds right, but I think its wrong. Doesn't matter how wide the rim is (ie 17x8 or 17x10) so long as the offset is ok.... Fig 1. 17x8 inch rim |_|-----|_| -> say thats a 2000mm track. Fig 2. 17x10 inch rim |__|---|__| -> that may now be a 1900mm track because the wheel sits further insde the guards than the 17x9's. Fig 3. 17x10 inch rim with wrong offset |__|-----|__| -> now you have a track of 2200mm because the offset forces the wheel to be further out of the centre of the car. Does this make sense? lwells
Does this make sense? Arr, ok, so the offset helps to compensate? I didn't know that -- I thought it was basically there to ensure the wheel would clear the calipers. So as long as I get the right offset, I should be ok even if I went to the max of 2"s? Can anyone confirm this from experience? Thanks again guys -- appreciate the info. Lucien. PranK
Well, having never had any issues with the cops, I can't give any info on legal experiences, but i did have WORK 18x10's on my GTR for a while and the wheel track was less than standard because they sat further in the guards (we measured the track at UAS).
