Thanks guys, mixed messages here but I ended up going and talking to UniGroup who I hope to book it in to and tune it once it's running right and I have been given a list of things to try out. From what i have been told there, and from lots of you on here it appears more to be an air leak from something or a sensor not hooked up properly as a possibility. Anyway it's home and if I can't fix it it's on a trailer to be fixed. I don't want to risk any damage to anything.

Thank you for all the opinions and possibilities, the more things I can try the more I can rule out, if one of them doesn't fix it.

Cheers

Liam

Just keep a cold head and don't beat it.

It won't damage your engine even with factory tune. And your engine stalling is not a result of new turbo.

Air/Vac leaks, or AFM placement need to be addressed due to new turbo making a lot more turbulance and air passes back and forth through AFM, resulting in mix readings.

Just check your shit for leaks, get the car tuned and speak to the tuner about AFM placement.

Good luck!

Robots that was one another thing unigroup said about more/different levels of air passing through the afm on decel and creating turbulance due to the now larger intake pipe. If I get time today i will check over everything again but once its found and sorted ill post it up.

I recently fitted a gtx3076 and very similar to your mods etc and i found similar problems

i have a 4inch steel intake with the airflow and filter as far away as possible in the corner, mine was stalling just every now and then not all the time, so im thinking it is to do with the intake pipe but also crappy hose clamps and old hoses.

Also i noticed i could give it a bit of boost , the engine light came on twice at 5psi on bout 2500-3000rpm so then i never boosted it again, cause it needs a tune.:whistling:

Ill put the pod on and rotate it, just out of interest why could that help? I found my 3" flexi pipe so I will bend that down off the pipe and attach the afm and pod. If that doesnt fix I will assume its something else. I'll take photos anyway in case it does fix it to show ppl with similar issues one way to tempirarily fix it.

lol f**k some ppl give out incorrect bullshit information, what a joke, it will be fine 2 drive around. dont listen 2 half of these idiots.

Well you must be retarded then.

I did this exact upgrade years ago and when I checked the AFRs they were as lean as f**k over 2,000rpm. (Car had a perfectly good 210rwkw tune in it with the stock turbo running 13psi)

So no, it is not safe or advisable to drive a car around untuned with such large modifications.

Eat a dick. You're the idiot.

I said it was fine to drive you fkn retard. i didnt say u can go flogging the f**k outta it or winding the boost into it did i.

ive also changed turbos about 4 times on my setup gt3076, hyperjunk, now 3582.. all times ran perfectly fine until it was booked in for a touch up on the dyno.

get off ur high horse, ur pathetic 314kw was cool 3yrs ago... oh wait u dnt even have a r33 anymore thats right..

good day f**khead :)

Actually, I changed turbos 3 times also. Yeah, the car ran "fine" in your idiot language.

But, when I plugged in the wideband and checked the readings, it was lean. Dangerously lean over 2k.

So if it's running lean over 2,000rpm but it seems it's "running fine" then how is safe or "running fine"?

Oh, that's right, you're just some toss that listens to what some inexpeienced random else tells you or gets someone else to do the work and thinks you actually know something even though you have no clue and I've seen it with my own eyes.

Yeap, the R33 is gone and I got a very decent insurance agreed value payout for it. Even more after I wrecked it for parts. So, your attempt be an ass blew up in your face.

Have fun eating dicks.

Ok chill its fixed and driving only to keep it running til its tuned no revs no boosting. I'll put up pics later of it for those interested or had/having similar issues.

Avoid driving it dude, because lean afrs on cruise can and will burn your exhaust valves.

Yet another thread full of mafia's condescending crap, i hope it makes you feel tough .

Glad its sorted, got any pics of the intake setup? Seams to be the more of a bend you can get between the turbo and afm the better with these larger intakes.

    • just an update to this, poor man pays twice  Tried sanding down the pulleys but it didnt do the trick. Chucked another second hand alternator in the na car which I got for free off my mate and its fixed the squelling. Must have been unlucky with the bearings.    As for my turbo car, I managed to pick up a cwc rb alternator conversion bracket + LS alternator for 250 off marketplace, looked to be in really good nick. Installed it , started the car and its not charging the battery.... ( Im not good with auto elec stuff so im not sure if this was all I needed to do but I verified such by using a multimeter on the battery when the engine was running and I was only getting 12.2v )   I had to modify the earth strap for the new LS alternator , factory earth strap was a 10mm bolt which did not fit the bolt on the LS alternator which was double the size so I cut it off , went to repco bought some ring terminals that fit, crimped it onto the old earth strap and bolted it up to the alternator , started the car and same issue. Ran like shit and was reading 12.2 at the battery.  For a "plug and play" advertised kit thats not very plug and play but alas.  My question is , am I missing something ? Ive been reading that some people recommend upgrading the stock 80 amp alternator fuse to a 140 amp but I dont see how that would stop the alternator charging especially at idle not under load.  Regardless ive pulled it out and am going to get it bench tested by an auto elec tomorrow but it would be handy to know if ive missed something silly or have done something wrong.
    • My wild guess is that you have popped off an intake pipe....check all of the hoses between the turbo and the throttle for splits or loose clamps.
    • Awesome, thanks for sharing!
    • To provide more specific help, more information is needed. What Android screen? What is its wiring diagram? Does the car's wiring have power at any required BAT and ACC wires, and is the loom's earth good?
    • So, now all you need to do is connect the 2 or 3x 12v feeds into the unit to permanent 12v, ACC 12V and IGN 12V that you can find in the spot behind the stereo, and the earth, and then it will switch on with the car.
