Hi all,

I was wondering if any one could possible shed some light on an issue I've recently discovered. Not sure if it's an issue or normal behaviour.

I've got an 09 GTR totally stock accept a willall mid pipe. I've taken it out for a burst, and once i got it up to temp I have gone to boost out of a corner in second gear it's bogged down or like cut out straight away at a low RPM just as the turbos are spooling up. The traction control light flashes but I haven't noticed any wheel spin. I tried it again and It did it again, and then after that it spooled as normal with no issues. I'm hoping that maybe the tires were cold and traction control kicked in, but I'm not sure. Tires have only done 3k so plenty of meat left...

Has any one else noticed this cutting out ever with their GTR?

Could it be just cold tires, or maybe something more sinister.

Any advice would be appreciated. Cars still under warranty for not long so if it's a warranty issue I need to get it back Asap

cheers

It sounds like traction control / cold tyres etc. I've had this many times (with VDC on) well before you can detect actual wheelspin yourself. One way to test it would be to turn off VDC and take it for a spin again. My bet it doesn't happen, but wheel spins instead.

Lol you guys talking about auto and manual mode.

It's all auto.

LOL auto? Obviously you havn't driven one yet, it's the most amazing supercar on the market. Auto's have a torque converter this has none. It runs a clutch similar to the old school method times 2 and it's the speed of the shift that makes all the difference!

When it's written on the shifter Auto and Manual mode how else are you going to describe it to someone. The characteristics of the vehicle change dramatically when shifted to each mode. Its a Auto when in Auto mode and its a manual with no foot operated clutch when in Manual mode. If you can convince me that a manual is not a manual unless it has a clutch pedal then its not a manual.

Hmmm... how about hey Im in auto, and then hey Im in sports auto. Goin all manual without my gear selector nor clutch.

You guys bit too easy. Im not challenging the size of your penis, Im just saying dont think for you have a manual car because it says so. Shit I can go and put a GTR badge on my cat, still wont make her flutter!

Thanks for the tip.. So actually my car is an Auto?? Who would a thought, all this time ive been driving my car in manual mode I didnt have to use my left foot to push the clutch... So what was I pushing?? The brake?? fark me that explains the problem with the car cutting out.. Thanks for your immense wisdom in clarifying the issue. Much appreciated.

    • A few small updates since the previous post and lessons. I decided to do a little interior light upgrade on the 110. I quite like the iilumo items, even if they're a bit of a premium over other brands. You'll also note the Stedi Fogs, that will go into the S15 fog lights as I needed to match the bulbs since I got the new ones earlier. I hope they fit as the body is quite a bit longer than your normal bulb.  Annoyingly, I managed to trip the fuse, which normally wouldn't be an issue until I located the fuse. I can't say I've ever come across this. I had lucked out that someone nearby had a spare, but oddly enough Toyota dealerships seem to keep this in stock. I ordered some to keep in my stash and as luck would have it, someone else nearby tripped the same fuse so I passed on the favour.  I also did a little service on the 110 ahead of some additional work coming up. It's been annoying that Goleby's stopped carrying this particular HKS filter for the 110, so now I need to keep them on order from Japan. I also took the opportunity to install a bash plate and number plate riser. The plate riser is such a cheap but nice fix to help really tidy up the car. I'm tempted to now also replace my headlights, on this car. Both items were from Project Aero.    I also needed to replace the rear tyres on the 110, and after trying to get it aligned learnt that I need to replace some bushes in the front end, so that's next.  Closing out this update with a nicer picture as always!
    • Yeah mate, never miss it.
    • Any going to watch World Time Attack at SMSP this year?
    • Appreciate the correction on the "ground", that will make a huge difference to looking at this. That makes complete sense about AF70/AF71 which is what I had come down to being the issue, one of these. I'll have another look in the ignition wiring when I get a chance next week. I'll also make up a jumper wire for running that AF73 test.  ECU is fine, relay itself is fine, pump harness is fine and the pump itself is fine. I am going to upgrade the Walbro 255 anyway with a DW300 I have since I need to replace the fuel sender and I'm going to upgrade the FPR with my chasebays kit ready for new plenum/injectors/dbw, but I'll get this working first. That's why this is so frustrating.
