Accuracy is not an issue in this case anyway, DJ are really really consistant. How generous (or not) the dyno is the only point worth baring in mind here imho. In anyone's language this car is making a LOT of power, I'd be picking this car would still be making over 500rwkw on a DD dyno. I'm a bit iffy about the spool in this case, though - I'd have hoped to see better on a 2.8.

My phrasing was iffy there, i meant how generous or not the turbo is, not consistancy, as that had been established to be a non issue amoungst the dyno brand in quesiton

We just had a factory 2012 Camaro on a few weeks ago made the power GM said it should make 1 hp off.

As for the we part what dynos do you make?? You work for the company or what?

I wouldn'thave a Mustang dyno to many people saying they're wrong in the states nobody likes to hear Mustang numbers high low whatever. I just tune with it sorry if it's not the one you like.

I believe he took your statement as you saying ' if it ain't our dyno then it isn't worth having one'

Did GM say the camaro make 'xxx'Whp or 'xxx' hp? Because factory statement is usually engine hp. Which is greater than WHP. Guilt toy was pointing out to the rest of us that this rwhp figure given is inflated in comparison to rwhp that we usually see.

I have used all of these dyno's, Dynojet, Mustang, Mainline, Dyno Dynamics and to be honest I don't care about how consistant a dyno is, I rate the dyno's on how they are when you are tuning with them.

Does your dynojet that you are using even have eddy current? usually no.

I do stick with my statement that the Dynojet is junk compared to the other dyno's (just look at the price of them compared to the others to start with!!!) , the Aussie dyno's are known to be the best in the world but after using the American Mustang dyno I would have to rate them as being the easiest and quickest to get the job done well and fast, some of the massive trucks we have had on it - sooo stable, I used to fly a Dynodynamics flag but after using the mustang ive been converted, they are the best tuning tool.

I was simply stating that the power figures are different, yankie power and aussie power is different, just go look on the american forums and look at the WHP figures they claim then see the MPH they are rolling out at the track, what are they doing ? towing 1500lbs of concrete on the back of the car when racing? when a car with the same power on the dyno's we use to gauge and claim the same horse power are rolling out 10mph + more down the track.

At the end of the day the best dyno is the big black dyno, the race track! Take this skyline down the track and then compare the MPH to our cars and you will find it will be comparable to 550 - 600rwhp cars on this forum.

Thats all I was trying to point out, should have kept my mouth shut it seems there are people on here with a happy trigger waiting to fire whenever I open my mouth.

Must of missed something turned all world war in here. At the end of tge day the number is good but the car would feel not fun to drive I think but each to there own

Not fun? Do you wear beige knitted jumpers every day?

i have to agree. We had a tuner come over from the states to tune a few local euro cars and was used to dyno jets and could not match the power on my dyno he was averaging 10-15% less across all the cars.

Are you talking about rwkw against rwhp readings or hp to hp?? Different readings we all know that but you are saying that along with Mustang the down under dynos read lower. I'm good with that as I didn't buy a Mustang dyno because they are the minority by a long ways here.

I'll look around for one of your dynos if I find one close I'll run over and see how far apart they are just to end the " I think this or that " about power numbers for everyone.

He means your rwhp figure is closer to an engine hp figure... Therefore your rwhp figure is actually ~100hp higher reading than what other dynos would suggest... Making what youre producing closer to 633rwhp

You shouldnt have to go on another dyno if you answer if GM gave you the camaro's whp or engine hp. Because if they gave you an engine power figure (what factories usually Tdo) then you're figure would be spot on with what is being said.

And as this is skylinesAustralia, he was just giving everyone a heads up that it's not as high as what most of us thought it was.

jangles: someone on the same page :3some:

listen Anthony, its good that a american workshop can get some good results from a RB engine, its not easy to do and thumbs up to you for your good results, even if its 600whp if the engine is staying in one piece well done !

no need to take it to another dyno, I do not need to be proven wrong, the race track will show you who is boss :)

good luck with it.

    • Thanks guys,  Yeah I should at least have them dynoed, at least then I know what I've got as a starting point.  The springs on these are hard as rocks. I vaguely remember Russman saying he was going to sell the shocks to me with the rocks fitted, as he was keeping the softer springs for his new setup.  I didn't click at the time but of course that was to let me know the shock/spring wouldn't be matched.  I also remember pricing up new springs around 2014-15, but, house, money etc. it never happened. So that was another reason to have them rebuilt. I have rebuilt the forks on many motorcycles so I think I could handle the seals on these easily enough, but getting the valving right would be a rabbit hole I cbf exploring.  Duncan, interesting to hear RP was tuning these back then. I might give them a call.  In the mean time I have been busy fitting sway bars. The Whiteline rear sway bar I purchased 15 years ago finally got fitted, along with the Whiteline front bar that showed up last week. Just waiting on new links for the front sway bar to finish that off.  And my spare set of advan AVS VS5's should be back from the powder coaters in a Pearl White finish sometime this week, with a set of Hankook RS4's lined up for fitting.  And then I just have all the suspension bushes to do. A comprehensive kit is on the way... Lots to do before the Ararat hill climb. Cheers guys 🍻
    • Nice car! I’m glad folks in the US have gotten past the FnF and are buying real cool cars like the 260RS I was with a bunch of mates in Portland about a year ago and spotted a green Stagea (just a regular 2.5T AWD) parked about 2 blocks away and they were like “a what?” So I made a bet with them for a round of beers and said “ok one of you run down there and tell me if the steering wheel is on the correct side” 5 mins later the American comes trudging back up the hill and goes “he’s right guys. Ok what beer do you want?”
    • Should replace OR drop the tank, give it's good clean. Might be worth replacing that entire fuel level/pump/cradle thing with this: https://frenchysperformancegarage.com/products/fpg-s13-180sx-r32gtst-single-pump-hanger-kit-billet-hat-6-v3-fpg-089?gQT=2
    • Thank you so much for the help
    • Yes it is ATF. I quote @Duncan "it takes a good synthentic auto trans fluid like Castrol Transmax Z" It's not a diff. It's a transfer case. Totally different thing. Yes, fluid will come out the sender hole. No you do not really need to drain it. Just pull the old, quickly poke the new, clean up and top up. But realistically, you should probably take the opportunity to change it anyway.
