haha!

$3600. Otomoto want $4,500. Fair deal!4/5 gears work, that's fair :P

But the OS 3 speed kit from RHD is only $2000 & the 5 speed kit is $2400…I don't see the limited edition 4 speed kit like the one you have though.

Haha. It's really good. ITs just a REALLY tall 2nd 3rd and 4th. 5 gears are crap, although you really need a torquey engine. :P

Just put an OS88 into the car …you know you want to , there only 14k landed from RHD.

At least its rated to 1500hp unlike the PPG.

Downside=cost , and who the fark wants to service the thing every 5000kms.

Why can't someone manufacture a damn box rated to 1200hp or so , that can drive like the stock box, no ridiculous service intervals, without needing a kidney donation to fund it. :/

14k is getting up there. If u could a second hand stock box for $700, u could go thru 20 of these...what a great option :)

Wouldn't be so bad if only took ten minutes to swap them out.

I couldn't a agree more. There is a HUGE gap in the market. Not everyone wants sequentials but they have the power to warrant a bulldog box.

Let's see how this dog box is. Can't be that bloody hard!

What I am having troubles with is a clutch to accept the larger spline. I rung Jim berry and asked if he could modify one if I sent him a brand new coppermix. He wasn't sure. Took my number down and is going to get back to me.

Suggestions?

Cant be that difficult to have your clutch plate modified to suit the larger spline shaft & reuse your nismo pressure plate.

Have you tried John at Western clutch at St Marys..he might be able to sort you out as well.

Did PPG recommend any particular clutch when using the large input ?

Maybe you can email them a picture of the centre boss of the hub & just say to mod the centre to accept the large spline .

Apparently it is. Something to do with the type of twin they are.

No recommendation. I really don't want to move away from it though. My one has been in the car for 9 years. Don't care if I have to buy a new one, but it works and drives awesome.

I would take the centre boss of the clutch apart and get the splined drive out of it & find a shop who will machine the identical part but with the spline size you require.

This is the problem.

I don't want any downtime. If I buy a new coppermix and can't get it done then I'm rooted.

Time to keep calling around I think.

You don't need to buy a whole new coppermix ..you can buy the new centre boss for $275 & new clutch plates for $228 from RHD .

If someone can't machine a new splined drive with a cnc machine then they need shooting.

Do you know what size & spline count the large shaft is ?..i can't find the info on ppg's site .

I wonder what ppg would charge to make another centre drive to suit their shaft if you supplied the original nismo unit to them ?..it wouldnt hurt to ask if they would or could do it since your willing to drop a bunch of cash on their gear sets.

    • Thank you, 100% the intent. New coils were due and the 17" sixers look/feel loads better than the stock wheels. The aero options are so spot on.   Thanks for the warm welcome, all!
    • 98 r34 gtt Been rocking my latest setup and car running like never before. Have put a good 200 miles on it since all the latest changes and additions. everything is dialed in and have been driving it a bunch.   However, all a sudden last weekend as soon as I pushed throttle passed 4k and the engine stumbles, (slow or fast acceleration) hesitates and doesn’t go above 4100 or so, like a misfire. Everything else seems fine. I had a “good” set of coil packs that I removed from car when I first got it when I changed them over to new coils. I swapped out current ones for those, but no change. I also changed the plugs, no change. Seems to rev over 4 when out of gear with no load just fine no “misfire”, but as soon as its in gear with a load of any kind, it “misfires” as soon as rpm drop back below 4 k it runs perfectly, smooth, starts, restarts and drives fine as long as I keep it below 4 k while in gear. All readings look fine, no CEL   Any idea as to what could all a sudden cause an issue when pushing rpms passed 4 k?
    • When you say your cams are 272/262 is that 272in and 262ex?
    • We're arguing semantics. I am saying 45 accel and a 55 deccel ramp are "2 ways". Even a 45 degree ramp and an 89 degree ramp is "2 ways", because it is literally... two ways. The cusco 55/30 ramp is a 2 way. It's two ways. I get it though - in normal nomenclature a "2 way" would be 45/45 or 55/55 or 60/60 i.e the same locking in both directions. And something like 45/65 would be considered "1.5 way". I would then say if we're getting into the nitty gritty then every locking diff is a "2 way" diff and we should not speak in 1.5, or 2 ways but ramp angles instead. Which ofc if one of those ramp angles is 90deg, that side is not doing any locking. :p So Nismo don't obviously sell 3 things. The fact of the matter that they only sell two items really goes to show that there's a 2 way and a "1,5 way" which is really a 1 way. I believe the actual lockup for the 'adjustability' of the GT pro is really just setting preload for when the ramps actually start locking up. It's not changing how much 'wayness' there is. It is (somehow) horribly explained. People just buy whatever diff and go "locks up good bruh" and that's what ends up on socials forever.
