hey guys, the problem went away for a few drives now its back, not as bad as before but its still there. cleaned the afm with contact cleaner so pretty sure thats fine. My question now is (assuming it is the ecu), if i take my car to get a tune up (nisstune ecu) will this hopfully rectify the problem. Do tuners usually have spare temp sensors etc on hand if it is damaged, or should i be looking at coming with an arsonal of spares.

In my opinion it's a bad idea to rock up to a tuner with a car that has problems, a tune won't magically fix it.

exactly my thought

guess ill start troublshooting, starting with the temp sensor, makes it hard when its perfect one day and playing up the next.

Ok finally got some spare time to have a look at the NIStune files for warm up timing, i found that 7+ degree's of timing is taken out during warmup up till around 3000rpm then returns to normal, So from now on everycar i do will have this timing put back in.

Kasko when we meet up in June at Eastern Creek i will fix it up for you :)

Sounds great thanks mate!

Thats exactly where it frees up and starts cruising.

Amazing how different it feels with 7 degrees timing

I think it was pulling far far more than 7 degrees, the map I saw had a dip from 20 down to 5 and when I looked in ecu talk it was pulling the maximum timing possible.

It doesn't do it this bad stock though, so I suspect when you start changing injectors/afms etc something else might kick in as well, unsure what.

Hey guys sorry about this, just making sure im following correctly. So its due to my ecu taking timing out when in warm up mode below 3000rpm. But because my car does this sometimes even when hot then this would suggest a temp sensor is possibly damaged telling the ecu the cars cold when really its warmed up, at random times at that?

No wonder mine started doing it as soon as i put the smaller turbo on. You bad boy you.

I am of the opinion there are two maps, cold start and sort of cold start as mine still pulls timing when I drive the car about 5-6 hours ago, eg in the morning it is fine (stone cold) if I leave work early it does it though the warm start map doesn't pull anywhere near as much timing and doesn't really bother me.

The other option is yes your temp sender is stuffed, is your fuel economy ruined? Plug in a consult cable and check the fault codes (not 100% reliable), or simply just check the output when cold and when hot with a multimeter, it should vary.

table is what I meant not map.

There is a cold start and warm start timing map, these are the two that do the retarding. The warm start one is much less aggressive, I'd just duplicate it in the cold start map and then take a few degrees out of the warm start one.

Lots of other handy tables though, coolant temp ignition and fuel tables for when the car gets hot, I put big numbers 110c degrees cell and a bit in the 100 so if it overheats in summer I don't blow it up.

took the car for a drive tonight. noticed the temp guage went up to where it normal goes (did take about 10mins to get there - way longer then it should be) and down then stayed only about 1/3 way up and wouldnt get up to the normal place where it sits. also when it was down the car was boggy and when it was up (briefly) the car ran alot better. obviously after 20mins driving my car had warmed up. my question is does the temp sender also tell the thermostat to open up. or is it my thermostat is not working correctly therefor the sensor telling the ecu if the cars at operation temp yet is getting tricked.

    • Since winter isn't that harsh anymore in Poland, i will definetely drive it 365 days a year 😉. But if the snow hits i will try it for sure and let U know. Only swap i am planning to do is of course R34 GTR front 😍.
    • Hey. Very valuable information about pitwork, I will pay attention when buying any consumable parts 🙏 As for the carpets - I got a handful of information from nengun, from which it appears that indeed the carpets for the driver's side are OEM. They are not able to show me any pictures due to the long chain of different sales entities but after I place the order, as soon as the goods arrive at the nengun warehouse from which they will send the shipment to me they can send me photos and if my purchase differs from OEM I can immediately return it / cancel the purchase. I think I will give it a try 😉. Of course i'll let you know what's what as soon as i get them P.s. I know the topic is not relevant to the thread, but both nengun and amayama have these SICK 😍 trunk room lamps available. Do you know anyone who ordered them? I need to have one in my car
