Hi All,

the other night i bought a VL rolling shell, has everything but the eng+g/box,

it has everything ready for a V8 so it will be over kill for the straight 6 im putting in it.

There is no rust or chassis damage, its my Gf's uncles and he needs the shed space so he said $300 and its mine.. DONE!

someone told me today that there is a difference between a VL chassis for the in6 and V8; is that true?

koz my plan was to either put the full RB30ET in it or go for the RB30 head and RB25 block?

Whats everyone's opinions?

Its going to be a track car for drift bigg4rin.gif

cant wait to get it started.

For a start the K-frame is different, the battery tray is on the opposite side and the fuel tank/lines need to be modded/replaced for fuel injection. If you are serious about this try the calaisturbo forum http://www.calaisturbo.com.au as it has a ton of information regarding all sorts of VL stuff. BTW I am guessing the hybrid was a typo surely you mean RB30 block with 25 head.

yeah as above, really hoping you made a type with the engine and mean rb30 block with rb25 head.

why not just simply drop a rb25det into it? will make stacks more power than just a rb30et will (unless it has serious amounts of work)

No worries. Personally if I was going to convert a V8 VL into an injected track machine I would just spend the bit extra and get an LS1...heaps of torque for spinning the tyres and lighter than an RB. Later on you can turbo the LS1 and get 400rwkw without doing any bottom end work. Once again check the calaisturbo forum if you are interested in the LS1 conversion into VLs. K frames occasionally come up on Ebay or post on some forums to see if someone wants to swap your 8 for a 6....you might get some interest.

    • I can see between the water jacket and cyl 3 there wasn't a hard line of combustion gas. It certainly appears that the issue is coming from there. Yes, checked the tension. All at 100ft lbs where I set them 5 years ago. These blocks can crack but generally when they have been over bored. Mine is only 0.5mm oversize at 89.5mm. They break between cylinders around the 91mm mark. No sign of that with mine. My gut feeling is the head gasket lifted a while back when the studs stretched and i bandaided it by retorquing the studs. It's finally let go.

    • So, version 4 intake is on its way I was looking at these a while ago but at around $200 or more it was a little pricey for something that might not work, but, I had it in my watch list, but, I got a message saying it was on special, and I had a code thingie to use, it eventually came in at $120 delivered, so BAM, BUY NOW.....LOL I'll need to have a look when it arrives but I feel it will "look" better than what I currently have, as it comes with a PCV fitting, so I will be able to get rid of the alloy pipe that goes to the throttle body with the PCV fitting  Well, that's what the voices in my head are telling me  Oh, and this happened today Yeap, it was a Trojan, and it was cheap, so I headed back to the hardware store and actually spent a little bit more on a heavy duty,  one that was actually recommended by a plumber mate, a Cyclone one with a fibreglass handle that is actually rated for clay The broken shovel will eventually be "modified" into a short handle shovel
