Don't roll over that easy, it's the principle of the matter. If it's been done to you and the guy gets away with it, what's to say he won't do the same thing to someone else again later?

I say confront the bloke about it, but don't start accusing him straight up. See what he says when you question him about what you have found.

yeah i have confronted him about other things he said he put on the car but he didnt, but he didnt like it much at all he was getting so annoyed by me cos i know what am talking about but oncei get the head off and see what the real drama is i will definatelly give him a call and tell him a few things he might not like

yeah it was preety much like that lol am not really pissed off its just it came at the wrong time i was always wanting to build an rb30 that can withstand a real punishment. maybe this is my time, SPOOL has got a preety good stuff that he sells. but finding a trusted builder in adel is a bit hard u hear stories of other people and it just makes u wonder :(

thats y i do as much as i can, i am a car sparky but have a broad mechanical knowledge

build one yourself

I've got a RB28 built by James at Nisspeed in adelaide, its done 30k+ hard kms, seems to know how to build an engine.. ;) and does quite a few 30/26 & 30/25..

Can confirm hard km's ;) seen it in action

well well well oh boi do i have a story for you guys, well during the last 3 days i have been pulling my engine apart and i have found out that its only a standaard rb30 no VCT either, it has cracked a ring land like most rb30 do when pushed a bit. now this is supposed to be a built engine my friend got screwed over and i ended up being screwed over cos i bought the car, not blaming a friend one bit, i spoke to the guy that said "engine is built and he denied it, he was certain he built it blah blah blah. I then sent him a photo of the piston, and then he saaid he will see what hes gonna do about it, will be waiting for his call sometime this weekend.

now i am not a f@####n idiot and i am getting a bit annoyed by how much bullshit he can talk ohhh myyy.

ive checked the bore its a 85. something cant remember so its standard,

pistons are standard rb30, its even got a nissan print inside the piston

now cams that are suppousecd to be 270, 9.11mm are not

ive measured the cam lobe and calculated and my lift end up being about 8.9,

what cams are in it f*k knows?

now ill try and get some money of this guy at least for the rebuild kit which is 2k from spool imports

will keep u updated on how it all ends up being

so disappointing :( :(

Well just a lil update guys i have stripped the whole motor and will be sending it back to sydney for a rebuild by the guy who originally put the whole engine in the car/ rebuild. I have also found out a full story in behind this engine and it ends up that the guy from SMD workshop has bought the short block of anothey guy who wanted to do the conversion, so basically he has lied to the guy from the workshop that the engine has been done, it all looked legit with shiny pistons and all but pistons were only new rb30 pistons. I do appologise for calling him a lier and a bullshit artist. i just didnt know the full story but still doesnt change the fact that couple of the things he said didnt make sense anyway ill leave it at that. we just got off on the wrong foot. anyway. will be rebuilding the engine properly and hope it all goes well :)

    • Bummer...yeah i "need" something to "ease" up the work and for my driving it would be enough.    Iam counting the tune "without" turbo. I do not mean "cheap" like something from Temu around 200 USD, "Cheap" is something around 1000 USD?
    • Starter motors used to use the weight of metal (magnets) to provide torque. Now they use (more) current instead. This. It's completely normal.
    • So thing that had me stumped, but I think is OK....is that when it was up in the air, in neutral I had it running to bleed to coolant while I put the wheels back on. I noticed the rears were turning (slowly) which I'd never seen before 20250928_163512.mp4     Because there had been an issue with clutch slip due to pedal adjustment on the dyno, I assumed there was still and issue so spent some quality time upside down under the dash adjusting the pedal....but no matter what I did the wheels still turned in neutral. Even disconnected the master cylinder to pedal rod and same. In despair, I even removed the clutch slave so there was no chance of any preload causing it.....still happened. So either: 1. Something is not right in the bellhousing, or 2. Its a thing sometimes with cold, thick gearbox oil Internet says it might be 2, I hope so!
    • OK, few more things sorted and it is ready for a shakedown on 10-Oct, with one weird thing. Changed the run in oil and filter for the good stuff. 8l came out, about 8.5 went in with filter so that looks all good. Changed the starter (again), this time for a brand new one, works good. Interesting that the Taaaarks one is shorter than factory but spins harder, I guess electronics have moved on a little in the last 30 years. Will be nice to have a bit of extra space under there. Put the timing cover back on, and noted where the cam gears were set as a record.  Will need to double check the timing but it is pretty close. Also put the coil pack cover and intake snorkel back on. Exhaust Inlet Changed the water out for coolant, bled up nicely. Removed the rear brake pads (well worn factory sumitomo ones!), gave the hardware a good clean and reassembled. I've put bendix XP on the back again because the price is excellent at $150 a set and they worked well on the V37. Front pads have plenty so no issue there
