suwidji
Hey guys, Im looking at getting a new set of rims. Was going to get te37's, but they're way too out of my price range, so I'm looking at getting the Varrstoen te37 replica's. I have stock 17's on my r34 gtt, with no mods on suspension or anything. I want an awesome concave look, but im not sure what the best offset for me would be because I'm a beginner with rims. Just wondering if anyone could post photo's or give me advice (or both?) to as what the best offset would be for a great concave look, without having to roll any guards or worrying about it effecting my driving/handling. This is the type of concave look I want: http://www.flickr.com/photos/21305018@N02/6343962604/ http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2759/4069703590_fa2b605c72_o.jpg http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2471/5735999005_03950fd01e_z.jpg thanks! suwidji
hey thanks for the link, Like i said, i'm new to tyres/rims and just wondering how to find out the rim and tyre width of what i have? On my tyre it says "235/45 17" I know the "17" is my rim diameter, but i don't know the tyre width or the rim width im running at the moment. Sorry, i probably sound really dumb lol, but yeh just wanting to learn Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/402450-te37-or-varrstoen-offets/#findComment-6397593 Share on other sites
boostn0199
It will usually say inside the rim when you take it off how wide it is and the offset aswell, if you cant find can always just measure it up. In regards to offset basically if you can roughly work out how much further you want the rims you have now to sit out, then once you know the specs of current rims you can do some calculations or easier yet stick the info into a online offset calcualtor along with the size your looking at. It will give you how much further they will sit out and protrude on the inside, from there you play aorund til you get around the figure you calculated in the start of how far you would like the your current rims to come out. JD32R
Pretty sure stock 34 Gt's are 17 x 8" offset maybe around +38 or something even more factory fail??? personal opinion if i was youuuuuuuuuuuu... i was in same position when i got my Rota Grid 18x10 for my gtr. Now ive seen the Varrstoen, i would go them! for the pure and simple fact of looks (also suppose to be lighter than the Rota's). varrstoen actually look like the TE37, Rota's have a really much more aggressive spoke profile. To see this have a look at Varrstoen and Rotas on a 32 Gtr or 34 Gtr and you will see, Varrstoen have that nice sunken in face with the still agressive spokes. And thats why i would go varrstoen 'next time'. have a look at what the other 34 Gt boys are running offsets etc wise, if you wanna be hella flush join stance nation. Most guys go for an appropriate fit or a tough stance. roll guards (if need be) run good offsets good tyre profiles and will look ace mate. hope that helps! sorry i dont know 34 GT-T specs, only know 32 Gtrs mostly Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/402450-te37-or-varrstoen-offets/#findComment-6398154 Share on other sites
Interloper
if you want concave but still reasonable offsets, the go the varrstoen 18x9.5 +30. You won't have to roll your guards with that lind of offset, but +22 would be even better looking. I'm planning to go Varrstoens 2.2.1 +30. suwidji
ohok, I was thinking of actually getting 17x9.5 +22 for now, basically because I just bought new tyres a few months ago and i dont want to spend on a whole new set of tyres. But in saying that, is +22 a good looking (concave) offset that wont require guard rolling, or would it require some work? I'm also a little confused. I haven't actually measure the width of my stock rims atm, but my tyres say its 235mm wide, which is 9.25inches when i googled it. Would that make my rims 17x9 or 17x9.5? thanks Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/402450-te37-or-varrstoen-offets/#findComment-6402784 Share on other sites
boostn0199
It doesnt matter the width of your tyres you can put 235 on a 8 inch or 11 inch rim you need to measure the width of the rim itself. In regards to 9.5 +22 should be alright depending on how low your car is but at worst all youll need is roll guards which isnt big deal wouldnt need a flare. Mitcho_7
I'm 80% sure on an r33 gtst the +30 in 9.5" will not clear the brakes on the front because of the flatter spoke profile on the varrstoens compared to rotas. Pretty sure they also hit the upper control arm on full lock on the inside. The 34's have a similar wheel fitment for front and rear as the 33's from memory. So if you want +30 9.5" you'll need to run a small spacer. Better of going the +22 I think. suwidji
my car is pretty much stock, so not low at all. In terms of a small offset, does it give a more concave look? Also, how much approximately is rolling of guards (if i dont need it for these rims, then maybe in the future if i get my car lowered or something so i know a general price) thanks for the info guys Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/402450-te37-or-varrstoen-offets/#findComment-6407026 Share on other sites
Mitcho_7
Most places I've contacted have said about $60 per corner. With varrstoens and te37 the lower the offset the more concave they will get from memory Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/402450-te37-or-varrstoen-offets/#findComment-6407052 Share on other sites
ichi-go
Sort out your suspension before you buy wheels Will look stupid with mega concave with 4x4 heights Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/402450-te37-or-varrstoen-offets/#findComment-6407791 Share on other sites
suwidji
ok i got my car lowered using the ultra low king springs and it rides comfortably. Now that i got paid (lol), my next step is to order these varrstoen bad boys. SO, new questions: Will i have any problems fitting 17X9(or9.5) +12 or +22's? Which offset would you guys recommend for my concave desire? lol thanks Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/402450-te37-or-varrstoen-offets/#findComment-6534590 Share on other sites
TM7GTR
Rule of thumb, the wider the rim and lower the offset the more concave they will be. Go: 17x9.5 +22 REAR 17x9 +22 FRONT This will fit without any issues, with tire stretch. I'm going 18x10.5 +30 FRONT, 18x10.5 +22 REAR - But I'm getting +25mm wide front fenders and a +20mm flare at the rear Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/402450-te37-or-varrstoen-offets/#findComment-6534632 Share on other sites
suwidji
oh ok, sweet thanks for the info. So with the sizes you mentioned, I won't need any rolling of guards either? TM7GTR
Highly doubt it. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/402450-te37-or-varrstoen-offets/#findComment-6535972 Share on other sites

KiwiRS4T
1. 235s on 9.5 rims will be illegal and unsatisfactory 2. Varrsteon are not a patch on TE37s - better to wait for a set of second hand TE37s than new Varrstoens Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/402450-te37-or-varrstoen-offets/#findComment-6905869 Share on other sites
