Looks like a T2. Watch out for the rods in the VQs. Apparently they start to struggle at 500hp+. That seems to be one of the major issues people face with big hp VQs.

orly? Please tell me what you know?

Looks like a T2. Watch out for the rods in the VQs. Apparently they start to struggle at 500hp+. That seems to be one of the major issues people face with big hp VQs.

The rods themselves aren't the issue so much as the rod bolts. They start to stretch once you get near that 400rwhp barrier. But a lot does depend on how hard you are spinning the motor. Apparently Nissan improved the rod bolts in the later model motors, but hey, the motor is apart why not upgrade??

The rods are actually thicker not just the bolts in the HR... the rods a puny and should be upgraded.

So what turbos are compatible with the HKS 3037 rear housing or would you need to upgrade both ? I havnt fitted mine but my engine is being machined this week ready to be full forged built for 600HP, 3037 only get 400-430 so any ideas for upgrade to get 500 ?

Yup. Get Scotty to make you up a new adaptor for the cross over/gate in t3 and get a gt3582 with 1.02 hosing in there

Any ideas on where to get best price for that ? Why adapter needed for the cross over gate? you cant get them in that size? Scotty what price u thinking of to adapt? Honestly u guys reckon 400-420 is not good enough? thats 2x what i got now..

It's all up to you mate! I'm quite happy with what I'm running on the stock block. You might as well strap on what comes with the kit, and just turn it up to max boost. A built motor will take it no worries. Get used to driving that. It's quite a big difference! Probably good to run the motor in with tha too.

The adaptor is a bespoke part of the kit. You'll need something made up to link the manifolds, pipe to the ext gate, and the turbine housing, in a bigger, more free flowing design. It's not an off the shelf part!

Honestly, with a gt3582 think it would be pretty scary! But I'm a massive pussy. I like going round corners too, not just planting it In a straight line.

    • I've got a 2011 J50 that I imported six years ago. The unmodified factory AV system date and time has always been correct ( Japanese timezone of course ) up until last month. About two weeks ago, at engine start, the system wished me a happy new year ( in Japanese of course ). I can't think of anything that would make the system think that the date had changed, unless the GPS component has failed/reset somehow ? I checked the GPS reception in the system settings, and it can still see the satellites. Has any other J50 owner had this happen ?  It's no biggie, just annoying that it tells me the wrong date anytime I start the engine. 😅
    • Love following your adventures on IG, hopefully if you're still around in Japan when we visit again wouldn't mind going for a few beers with you (that's if you're keen on hearing how I hate Nissans).
    • ok so if i wanted to go 18's i would go for 8's  in front 30+ or 32+ off set at front and the back 9 would be ok? what offset should i aim for.. then can i do some  hunting for wheel rim choices..    If i get this - will this fit all around: Size: 18 x 8.5 +37 - n what tyres size tyre should i get for front n back?
    • Absolute f*cking nightmare. I had to take breaks constantly, and I was always pissed off when I got home. The line split in Italy on day 2 (we drove from the Netherlands), lol. Driving any narrow European town was... well, sh*t.   Appreciate it man. Here, I'll just drop a favourite from the load I took on Saturday.   I'll update here when things happen with the car, the thing is, with stock power and almost everything chassis-wise taken care of, there really are no problems. 268,000kms now and counting.
    • Ah! I actually managed to snag a lightly used set.... that aren't so suitable for me right now. They don't work on a GTT without some cutting or creative heat moulding. I thought about reselling them myself cause I didn't want to murder them, but it looks like I'm probably going to attempt to murder them/melt them because I may as well. @GTSBoy @PranK can somebody close this thread?
