hi all,

i am currently in the market for a turbo for my car (not an RB), and am looking at the Garrett GT3076R (possibly 52T), although given the cost of the genuine garrett turbine housings and large gap in A/R (.63 - .82), i'd like to know if anyone has actually tried/tested a Kinugawa turbine housing on a GT3076R (such as below)?

If so, what were the results?

many thanks,

RS500

contact paul from streettotrack he can get you a brand new garrett gt3076 with your choice of housing EXTREMELY Cheap i paid off the top of my head around 1200 delivered from garrett with warranty with the 56trim ar60 anti surge front housing and the .82 ford xr6 turbo 5 bolt style rear with a big can internal wastegate :)

The kando housing has always interested me, the price is soo cheap.

afaik they are untried at this stage :( were waiting for a Pioneer as such, will that be you? lol

maybe contact paul and ask for some prices of the rear housing i would only ever use a garrett rear housing and nothing else if u want to run a kando rear sell the garrett make a profit and buy a kando there cheap enough

hi guys,

thanks for your responses.

firslty, this turbo will not be going on an RBxx engine so there's no need to go to an A/R .82, and given the smaller GT37 52T comp wheel, it will be a more balanced combination.

i wasnt aware Paul (STT) had acces to kando/kinugawa parts.

i'll need to send him an email.

GTScotT,

it looks like i will need to be the pioneer in this sceanrio.

the fact that it's .73 interests me, given i think it'll work well with the 52T comp wheel and allow for usable mid-range torque,

also, the price is a win.

jet,

i understand your point about the genuine garrett but at $500, not sure i'll be able to sell it for a profit.

also, given that i'll be running an external wastegate, i dont i'll have any issues.

it would only be a problem if i was to go a non-genuine internally gated housing.

yeah thats true i guess u can see how you go just remember to lower the turbos overall HP giving the smaller rear housing

paul doesnt have access to kando parts from when we last spoke he just deals with garrett turbonetics and so on only the hi end brands

i guess for the price why not give it a try :) cant hurt

Jet,

not sure that i'll actually be utilising the full potential of the compressor wheel to be honest so i think the A/R .73 will be perfect for what i need.

price is my driving point right now.

not sure it's wise to pay $450-500 for a genuine garrett and then hack it (weld external gate pipe).

we can only try i guess.

i'll provide results if i end up going this way.

Any update on this, did you end up using the Kando housing? results?

Anyone else running a kando housing now on their GT or GTX3076r as i am about to get ready to put one on my R34 Gtt and am in the market for a rear housing.

    • The fancy pants red shock tower brace is finally incoming from MX5 Mania, getting it shipped from 'Merica has been a long and problematic process, and GWR, the 'Merican supplier will not ship directly to consumers outside of the US, Mania basically had to order a heap of them, the colour choice was silver, or red, and we all know anything red adds 5 killerwasps of dynotorques..... Whilst it does fit over a 2.5, and I've seen a few photos and videos of it being installed and fitting, google also says it might get real close to the FAB9 intake front runner, people in the US says it does fit with the FAB9 intake, except for one person who said it slightly touched.......so there is that.....LOL..... As it seems that I am the first in AU to have this combination of parts there's no local knowledge about fitment, so I'm just a willing guinea pig in this endeavour, I'll cross my fingers and toes and hope for the best In other news, I ordered stuff from China  on the same day I ordered the 23° silicone bend from Victoria, the stuff from China arrived a day ago, the 23° silicone bend is still travelling around Australia thanks to Australia Post, and "may" be here next week
    • Very good news...I contacted Racebox about it last night. My car is a 2016 so remains to be seen if it is compatible, requires a TCU swap, or is impossible.
    • What ECU are you running? This is probably the biggest question. If it's a PowerFC, I'd probably change the ECU and get something newer that will handle the injectors in a nicer way.
