Hello guys,

I know a guy who is selling is BNR34 getrag tranny fitted on his R32 already ( so I would have anything needed to make it fit in mine) and this got me curious. He's asking 5000$.

Right now I have a rebuilt R32 transmission ( input shaft, synchro and everything else checked and was fine). I was going to buy LSD diff 1.5 for my car ( which would run me for about 2000$ for both). Should I keep that extra 3000 and wait till my tranny break and fit a os gear set inside etc. etc.

or... would it be wiser to get my friend's setup with the getrag and R34 diff yada yada.Over here, we don't have R34, so we don't know much about how tought these tranny are so basicly I'm wondering if a uprated R32 transmission would be better than a stock getrag setup?

Cheers for the info!

Where is "here"?

How much power are you making and what is your target for the future?

I believe the R33 transfer box is stronger than the R34 - I don't know about the R32.

If your R32 trans is fine I would be inclined to stick with it.

If the R34 diff is off a GTR then it is 3.545:1 compared to your current 4.1:1 - quite a bit higher geared - do you want that? Plus I think it is longer so if you don't change over the whole set-up you will need to modify your driveshaft.

It is probably also 10 - 15 years old so probably better to buy a new 1.5way LSD.

You aren't really making enough power to justify a OS gearset or a Getrag from a strength point of view.

If you bust a stock box, put another in - you could do this 5 times before you need to worry about it.

Also $2000 for two 1.5 way diffs? They are $1500ea, so you might want to check your pricing there as i went through it not 6 months ago, then add in the fitting.

good news then. When I broke my tranny it was because of the reverse spring'' yup a little 20$ spring broke and I couldn,t put the car in reverse.

2000$ was considering I buy them used!

BTW, I did a run at 127mph with gt-ss last week-end. But I'm seriously considering swapping these for gt2530, would like a bit more top-end. :)

I'm in Canada. Like I said, he would sell me the WHOLE KIT so I don,t need to modify anything but I think you guys are right. if anything broke, I might just source a R33 transmission ( if the LSD is compatible/already bought/fitted on my car).
