Ive brought a TV tuner of Commsman a while ago and have had it installed for ages with no problem.

About a month ago (not to sure when as I hardly use it) it just seamed to not work I get no pictcher or sound. I thought it must have just been the antenna but on the weekend I tried the antennas that came with the kit but its still the same.

I went over the wiring and it all seams ok. I hooked it to a TV and still get the same thing.

This is what comes up on the screen

Dose anyone have any ideas of what it could be or is anyone around south east Melbourne that has one that I could swap in to test

Thanks Andrew

Hi Andrew, can you remove it and plug it into the aux input of your house TV?

You will still need to power up your antennas so maybe putting the TV in your car may be easier. That would help eliminate some possibilities.

I'd send you a new one to test if I had any left.

I ran a RCA cable from one of the spare yellow outputs to a TV If thats what you mean?

Got the same thing on the screen.

That's a pretty good test. I'm guessing you don't get anything if you use the remote either, ie does any menu display come up?

I had a less than great run out of these tuners, with more than what I'd call acceptable being DOA or dying within a week of going in. However, those that worked seem to be OK (mine is still good after nearly 2 years).

This is your 2nd one isn't it? I'm sure I sent you a replacement previously. I hope there's no underlying issue with your car's power etc. Did you run accessory power from a fuse up front or take power from the existing tuner?

Ive tried pressing all the buttons on the remote and nothing works. Made sure the battery was good as well.

This is the first one, havent had a replacement. I got power from up the front. IIRC its from the switch that controls the exhaust volume

The tuners are also dependant on the factory tuner working properly. If that fails, then whatever is before the factory tuner, be it the aussie tuner or reverse camera, will also not show up.

It could also be a screen problem.

I had an instance where nothing showed up on my screen, not even the trip computer. I pushed the button on top of the screen to retract it and pushed it again to lift it and it magically came back to life. I powered tuner off the factory tuner as per the instructions from here.

    • Hi all, Long time since I've posted here. Looking for some advice on what I can remove to further identify the cause of my issues.  I can move the passenger seat forward and back but the knob used to adjust the seat angle is pretty much free spinning, there's very little resistance.  Removing the side cover I can see that the chain is intact but the shaft for the adjustment spins without the gear attached to it moving.  What's my next step for disassembly here? Is this a common fault? Just being a little cautious as I didn't want to start removing bolts for a spring to fly out or something equally as stupid.  Cheers
    • Those above shitboxes, mediocre and above usually have a turbo strapped to them, hence the slightly higher octane is required.

    • I mean, I got two VASS engineers to refuse to cert my own coilovers stating those very laws. Appendix B makes it pretty clear what it considers 'Variable Suspension' to be. In my lived experience they can't certify something that isn't actually in the list as something that requires certification. In the VASS engineering checklist they have to complete (LS3/NCOP11) and sign on there is nothing there. All the references inside NCOP11 state that if it's variable by the driver that height needs to maintain 100mm while the car is in motion. It states the car is lowered lowering blocks and other types of things are acceptable. Dialling out a shock is about as 'user adjustable' as changing any other suspension component lol. I wanted to have it signed off to dissuade HWP and RWC testers to state the suspension is legal to avoid having this discussion with them. The real problem is that Police and RWC/Pink/Blue slip people will say it needs engineering, and the engineers will state it doesn't need engineering. It is hugely irritating when aforementioned people get all "i know the rules mate feck off" when they don't, and the actual engineers are pleasant as all hell and do know the rules. Cars failing RWC for things that aren't listed in the RWC requirements is another thing here entirely!
    • I don't. I mean, mine's not a GTR, but it is a 32 with a lot of GTR stuff on it. But regardless, I typically buy from local suppliers. Getting stuff from Japan is seldom worth the pain. Buying from RHDJapan usually ends up in the final total of your basket being about double what you thought it would be, after all the bullshit fees and such are added on.
