Hi Guys,

The Mrs has decided that we're getting tickets for Christmas and coming down in March for the GP. After some tips regarding seating over the 3 or 4 days.

I know there are lots of regulars here so advice would be appriciated. :)

Sky Sports has confirmed its race coverage for 2013 which will include live coverage of every practice session, qualifying session and race from each grand prix weekend with 10 exclusively live. Every race will be screened on the dedicated Formula 1 channel Sky Sports F1 HD.

The Jones Stand is my pick for race day. I have the Jones four day grandstand pass.

Last year I had the 4 day Brabham grandstand pass. Sitting in the Brabham stand on race day leaves you facing into the sun for the race which is pretty tiring plus you don't get to see them until they enter the turn 1-2 complex. Sitting in the Jones stand you get to see part way down the main straight as well as turn 1-2 which was pretty good for action in practice and quali with cars running onto the grass when the track was green.

Fangio stand on pit straight is poo unless you like seeing cars flash past you. You can't see a whole lot in the pits so not really worth it IMO.

Robert Kubica admits he misses Formula 1 dearly, but says there is little chance of him returning to the sport in the near future.

"I find it difficult to watch F1 races," he told the Daily Express. "I miss racing, that is the biggest problem. After the race, when I am at home, I think I am living a boring and monotonous life. When I am driving, thanks to concentrating, the limitations are not really affecting me a lot. I am grateful for what I have.

"You cannot get out of life everything you want. When I am driving race cars it is for sure much better than it was six months ago and it is very close to what I was doing before the accident. So it is very good.

"If I can move my arm again [freely], there is a chance that I will return. But until that happens, we'll have to see. There's no chance of me coming back to Formula One soon."

Kubica's injuries have mended enough to allow him to compete in other forms of motorsport, but the physical demands of F1 still makes returning to the pinnacle of the sport an impossibility.

"The strength, the power in the arm is not as good as it was, but if this was the only problem then two months of treatment and that would be gone," said Kubica. "Unfortunately, there are bigger problems which you need to concentrate on solving than the power.

"I have limited functionality of the hand and the fingers but this is something I am convinced will come back slowly because the nerves need a lot of time.

"There has been slow progress this year. That is life. I will not gain anything by being frustrated. It is very simple. There is no other option than to keep pushing, keep working."

Their rivals may wish it wasn't the case, but Sebastian Vettel and design guru Adrian Newey are set to continue their successful partnership at Red Bull in 2013.

"Red Bull is a great team to work for," said the 53-year-old Newey, widely considered to be one of the chief architects of Red Bull's recent success.

"I've always maintained I do not want to spend my entire career in motor racing and certainly not F1 - but right now I am enjoying it.

"And as long as that is the case and people offer me work, then I'll keep doing it.

"At this team we keep egos and politics to a minimum and try to keep an atmosphere where there's no finger-pointing.

"We encourage creativity. And our results and titles show how all that has paid off," added the Brit, who is the only designer to have won Constructors' Championships with three different Formula One teams.

Vettel's record in a Newey-designed car makes for impressive reading: 26 wins, 46 podiums, 36 pole placings and three successive titles in 100 races.

Vettel said: "You need to feel happy in the team you're in and it is essential to have a competitive car. Right now I have them both.

"This is where Adrian is so brilliant. He gives me confidence and he designs world-beating cars. It is an incredible experience to work with him.

"I think we can do even better," he added ominously.

Pirelli is confident that Formula 1 teams are now much better prepared for a move to more aggressive tyre compounds in 2013 than they were at the start of this season.

The Italian tyre manufacturer is going to switch to new constructions and even softer compounds next year in a bid to improve the spectacle and ensure teams are still challenged.

Agree with everything here.

I would be buying a 4 day pass for Jones stand but I won tickets for Fangio.. and wont receive them until the new year, probably won't sell them as I had planned.

    • Seat of the pants assessment of the new intake: The car is way less "doughy" when hitting the loud pedal, especially off idle when stopped or in traffic, I did use a cheapo lazer thermal thingo to measure the temp around where the pod filter got its air, it was between 55 - 60°C, in saying this the car was shut off and not moving, so the OEM intake pipe was not supplying any fresh air to where the pod was when the car was at least moving A weird bonus was induction noise on the throttle in the cabin increased a bit,  I was worried that I was actually going to lose some of that induction noise I love so much, outside though, when I got the daughter to do a WOT drive by pass for me, the induction noise has increased alot when on the throttle, not quite ITB doort, but well up there I'm extremely happy with the results and have been exploring the country roads in the region  As for house mods: 1.New front fence is up and is awesome, it really upgraded how the joint looks from the street, and the added security is nice 2. Electricians have replace some interior lights, and with more lighting in the garage, a few new motion detecting lights out the front above the garage, front room, and at the front door, which I have already found heaps helpful coming and going, also now has fancy pants CCTV all round the house The only hold point for power though is the solar and batteries due to supply issues, although this will happen over the next few weeks 3. I have done a heap of landscaping out the front and I'm almost ready to do a new small retaining wall with some nice blocks to replace the brick and cemented in rocks around the raised garden beds cemented in river stone "was the fashion at the time" the house was built. I currently have a pallet of retaining wall blocks and 2 bulka bags of 20mm blue metal to replace the wood chip that is in the raised garden beds around the house 4. I now have 3 big raised garden beds for out the back to grow some vegetables, about 70cm high, 200cm long and 100cm wide 5. My 2 compost bins are already pretty full with brown, green and kitchen waste from the landscaping I'vedone so far, but they will probably take a few months to break down, so anything else that gets chopped, trimmed, and kitchen waste will just start filling the base of the raised garden beds to about 30cm before I start throwing 40cm of good compost, and stuff, for the vegetables to grow in, I'll need a few ton of compost and soil, but the local supplier can sent me bulka bags of the stuff Basically the logs, wood chips and a few strategically placed rocks for drainage, will give the beds some good organic materials down low to break down over time, and they will hold moisture during the warmer months to save the water in my big arse water tank if we don't get alot of rain So, all in all, the car and house mods are going well, and I'm really enjoying being retired, I sleep in too 0700 and slowly plod around inside until I feel like actually doing anything, and only work in the yard for as long as want, which has actually been alot over the last few weeks,  although when you look at it, it seems that not a huge amount of work has been done,  until I look at the before I started the work pics Happy days and good times indeed 
    • hahaha yeah. Plan is to get side skirts and probably just rear pods. But going to do them one-by-one. I've got a set that I really like from RHDJapen, but that one isn't shipped to AU. So need to find someone who can get it for me
    • Here's an idea, answer the questions I asked you as they are trying to work out WHY the LSD will be binding up in a straight line.
    • You haven't driven many modern cars then have you? Most of them have sfa steering feel with their stupid electric bullshit steering systems.
