Christian Horner has revealed that Red Bull Racing turned down the opportunity to test with Pirelli as they felt it "wasn't in line" with the rules.

"We believe it is the responsibility of the entrant to comply with the regulations, so when it came to light that a test with the current car had taken place, or interpretation of the rules was that that was in clear breach of them, therefore we raised a protest prior to the race for it to be dealt with by the FIA," he said during Friday's FIA press conference.

"It is really an issue between the team and the FIA and obviously Pirelli have asked several teams to test - ourselves included - but we have declined to do so as we felt it wasn't in line with the regulations, certainly with the current car. So that is the situation, it has gone to the tribunal and we trust the FIA to make the appropriate decision regarding it.

"The important thing is that there needs to be absolute clarity in what you can do and what you can't do, what I testing and what isn't testing and I think that that is more crucial than anything to be fully resolved."

The Red Bull team boss also claimed that there was no way Mercedes did not get an advantage over their rivals despite the team's insistance that they did not.

"I think that whenever you have limited testing with the rules written as they are, then when you run a current car with the way the amount of technology and the way the amount of data analysis there is you are always learning - whether it is reliability, whether it be endurance, whether it be performance.

"So of course even if you are testing a component for another supplier you are learning. Formula 1 has moved an awfully long way over the last few years to ensure fairness and equality to all of the entrants and I think if a team does carry out an extra 1000km with a current car then you are going to learn something."

Thailand's plans to host a Formula 1 grand prix have hit trouble after Bangkok officials banned racing in the city's historic quarter.

Authorities said in April that a 5.995km circuit would be created near the Royal Thai Naval Dockyard in Bangkok, with the hope of landing a deal to host a Formula 1 race in 2015.

The track would have run past the Grand Palace, the Temple of Dawn and Victory Monument.

The plans, however, have suffered a setback after Bangkok's Metropolitan Authority passed a law that bans racing in the area.

"The law came into effect on May 16 prohibiting car racing in inner Bangkok because that area is a conservation for culture and arts," Kriangphon Pattanarat, director general of city planning department told AFP.

It is still unknown whether another location is being considered for the circuit.

Massa continues to shine

And Maldonado, 2nd drivers at their best

Have to say I was really looking forward to Grosjean gaining some confidence and showing some speed, but it doesnt look like its going to happen this year.

Grid Penlaties for Kimi and Dan. Only lose 1 place each because of the order the Penalties were inforced. Bit of good luck in a bad situation for those two

    • An update regarding the registration with the DVLA I sent off the paperwork the day after I collected the car from the port, two weeks later it was all returned with a letter explaining they have rejected the application. This was because the cheque was £20 short for the road tax (I used a price list I found online). Nevermind it is what it is, it was sent back to them the following day with a new cheque. Fast forward another 2 weeks or so, I called them for an update to be told it had been rejected. Yesterday (16th September) I received the documents back along with another letter, this time it was because I didn't put an X in one box on the V750 (personalised number plate certificate), which declared that I had the rights to the personalised number plate. Why this wasn't mentioned in the first rejection letter, I don't know, but it could have saved this headache. The documents were sent back today, so fingers crossed third times a charm and it'll FINALLY be registered on the road just in time for the bad weather (woohoo!) To cheer myself up I lowered the front 25mm, was sick of seeing it sit like a monster truck. No idea how much clearance I'll have getting on and off the driveway, I'll worry about that when I can actually drive it
