Alternatively give Competition Friction a call. They don't do RB74's but they do have some other pads. They're an AP Racing supplier and I've bought stuff from them before, they're really good. Can probably get you something worth buying.

I don't have their number but whitepages.com.au is your friend.

Gave John a call at Competition Friction, he recommended the Ferodo Racing DS2500 pads. They fit them to OEM HSV's and what not (you know, the boaty whale things...) so they will be adequate for road use (and occasional track use).

~$238 front's, $209 rears - but he did mention that i could probably swap to a cheaper rear option as the fronts do indeed do most of the braking work.

They are located in Murrambatemen apparently, but can organise to get the stuff to Canberra.

Yeah sorry I forgot to mention that they're in Murrambateman.

Last time I bought AP fluid from them I bought it over the phone at 3pm and they couriered it to my place by 6pm for $9.00.

Mate! How much did you pay for the installation of your clutch. Mine is due to change and would like to know the price? BTW, where is gas tune located?

Cheers!

Gas Tune is in the same set of shops as AudioTech on Scollay Street, Greenway -next to car lovers. Dave runs the shop.

A new clutch installed has previously cost me $900.

Cheers

Have to give thumbs up to Marc at Discount Tyres Belconnen, had the car breakdown at the start of the week. Fitted me in, fixed the problem, reasonable charge, and explained exactly what the problem was and how it was fixed.

Just wanting to confirm that Ed is still at Integra??????????

now owning a R33 (stock!) was considering going to a mechanic that actually knows about them (current mechanic is good but doesnt do any skylines normally).

Based on the feedback, and the fact Integra is close by it sounds like the place to go.

My understanding is that Ed is no longer at Integra. He may show up at AutoTech next year.

Local

Trojan is rated by many on here as good with Skylines.

Peter at Autotech (Fyshwick) for tuning is one of the better ones around at the moment.

Interstate

Croydons (CRD) in Sydney.

As far as going to Integra  at your own peril.

From a soarer perspective, Trojan rate very highly in my books. AutoTech dyno tuned her last year, which was a great tune; however, he told us he is cautious and wouldn't run anymore than 15psi unless 600cc injecters were fitted. As a result of the dyno shootout at Jakes Performance, I will be going there to get some tweaking done. For normal servicing/problems though, I go to Neil Griffiths at Rush Imports in Queanbeyan, as he is the soarer/toyota guru of probably the whole of Canberra. Despite my previous 'loyalty' to EVO Motorsport; they lost me when Stu forgot what spark plugs to use in the soarer when he did a minor service awhile ago. Rush wasn't open so he asked EVO and the ones they recommended were totally wrong and left her running rather rough until Neil fixed it.

    • Have a vb in honour of the car comming back
    • It was a great, but typical track day, and some VB was ingested at the night time debrief 🤪
    • And so, to round this out, I couldn't be happier to confirm @MBS206 has decided to buy the car. He drove down from sunny QLD with a trailer last week and it is off to its new home today. I'll let Matt confirm on next steps but I understand broadly that the plan is to leave it pretty much as is, and just get some quality wheel time with a nicely balanced car that is pretty much track ready. There are a few a jobs still to be done first but nothing too major and I think its a very smart buy Dinner last night at the Paragon with a round of VBs (mostly) for Neil
    • Well, 50 pages and the end of a chapter for this car. We took it out for a shakedown at Wakie yesterday, and everything went well. There were a couple of niggles: - Oil cooler fitting leak - tightened, cleaned, stopped leaking - Radiator cap overflow fitting was leaking....Mark called it, the overflow fitting was threaded in and not tight....tightened, tested and held pressure - Small oil leak at the rear of the block, probably the turbo oil feed - too hot to get at it comfortably but probably just needs to be nipped up - leak at the driver's side rear brake line where it meets the hardline. Fitting wasn't loose, so Matt backed it off and back on, no further leaks - there's also a leak somewhere on the top of the fuel tank, maybe that cross over fuel line - that was has been left to fix when its on a hoist Otherwise than those niggles the car went great, turned great and stopped great so it was a very successful day out. I'm always really nervous when a car first hits the track after a long break, especially with a brand new engine as well but it was great. VID-20251011-WA0007.mp4  Big thanks to @The Bogan who dropped by and helped out, @MBS206 and my nephew Lachlan the apprentice.  Neil's wife Mel also surprised the hell out of all of us by dropping by; she's up in Tamworth these days but was travelling to Melbourne so had plausible deniability for turning up at the garage, it was great to see her but also obviously a bit sad all round.
