Thought that Mike and I were coming down to your place tomorrow night and then drinking scotch and then going to Yattla for the cruise?
Ha! That would of been good.

Sadly I have already plans with family tomorrow

Well run in has been done (so I've been told)

As much as I want to go and get it tuned again I'm saving for suspension parts FTM as a car is only as good as it handles

I will put some minor updates soon ;)

Alright it has been quite some time since I have updated this build thread

I guess I have been enjoying it, hence why bugger all updates

but this aint true as I have in fact done a bucket load

First up........

I decided to take off the windshield water grill and see what has been lurking under there

so after taking off the mandatory wiper and bonnet bolts and removing them I got this

it wasn't pretty

IMG_0664_zps7df0caf5.jpg

IMG_0666_zps7b98eb43.jpg

so lets get all this cleaned up ;)

Got my trusty garage vacuum cleaner and started sucking up all the dirt and silt lying within the under there grill

IMG_0726_zps10cc773a.jpg

even took these little suckers out for some restoration lol

IMG_0729_zps3370aa74.jpg

after a quick wipe with some warm water and soap and it already started to look a better

but me not being satisfied I wanted to go one step further

IMG_0736_zpsf2f29b4d.jpg

IMG_0844_zps0be6f9b2.jpg

I removed the bolts to the wiper motors (except for the middle one so just tapped it up) and taped up everything else with plastic sheeting

next step was to apply a coat of clear where the windshield grill usually sits

results

IMG_0731_zps61375da7.jpg

managed to clean them plugs rather well and went straight back in their home

IMG_0901_zps1b38e4eb.jpg

whilst I was at it I thought I would pay some attention to the actual grill which looked rather in poor shape

After a quick wash with some sugar soap and warm water it looked like this

IMG_0894_zpsac8d2491.jpg

I glued the lip back with some Loctite Precision Super Glue Gel (highly recommend it for delicate applications)

IMG_0891_zps84a3419f.jpg

IMG_0893_zpsd8dfedf0.jpg

Then I applied some Meguiars Plastx to get it to look like this

IMG_0892_zpsdf783d1f.jpg

back in the engine bay - I had some broken studs to take off and rethread

IMG_0869_zps165aaf0a.jpg

after much swearing and broken drill bits I got the bastard out lol

IMG_0868_zps75476492.jpg

IMG_0866_zpsdb94de90.jpg

me and drills - thank Christ I am not a dentist

Time for some rethreading

IMG_0865_zps44174980.jpg

this is actually rather delicate to do and you must turn slowly then reverse slowly to get the right threading technique but I managed very well thanks to Youtube lol

IMG_0870_zps15db47a8.jpg

new stud in place

next up the rear wing

IMG_4882_zps0bf118a2.jpg

thought I would take the rear wing off to detail it...........

lets just say that when I saw this

IMG_4883_zps81c11175.jpg

IMG_4887_zps2134c4bc.jpg

I knew that there was going to need more than just wax and polish

IMG_4885_zpse2166cd5.jpg

IMG_4886_zpsf47abe44.jpg

the rear wing stay brackets were fooked to say the least

IMG_4889_zpsb9057cdf.jpg

IMG_4893_zpscb503641.jpg

IMG_4895_zpsfd80df57.jpg

totally corroded and unusable

the car without the rear wing

IMG_4897_zps93fb00aa.jpg

we will get all this cleaned up too

IMG_4910_zps9993d796.jpg

IMG_4911_zpsdab5806b.jpg

IMG_4914_zps21ea56b5.jpg

ta dah!

a bit of detailing done (cut and polish)

IMG_4918_zps10f4a572.jpg

IMG_4915_zpsa261c6d2.jpg

it sure does have a different appearance without the rear wing

    • Yeh I think i'll message an old contact i had for ages that manages his own tyre shop now.. n tell him what i want n work with him before ordering..  Got this 17x9 +30 Driftteks on 245/45/17 PSR Drag Radials on the rear.. They fit well - for your reference in future - Rear guards  have been lipped in & minimal to non flaring of the rear Gaurds.
    • If only it were that easy! I also needed to remove seats, shocks, brake calipers, send my car through a fence, and use measuring and ended up guessing because I didn't remove seats, shocks and brake calipers. It can be hard sometimes Can be a little more complex than 'just measure' if you want to truly measure the entire wheel through all of it's suspension travel. But if you aren't going for every last mm then yeah, you can check the space you currently have and guesstimate.
    • If you own a car, and it has wheels on it, and you know the offset of those wheels, and you have a measuring device, you have everything you need to work out if other wheels will fit.
    • Will this fit? but they are staggered set - RAYS 57DR SEMI GLOSS BLACK 18x8.5 +37 | 18x9.5 +38 5-114.3 STAGGERED SET   or If no go could just get a set 4's wheels of 18x8.5 +37 5-114.3 - would i run 8.5's 235s up front n 245's at the back if I do?   Thanks.
    • Put a clamp on your return line. I have a feeling it's sucking air, and introducing bubbles to your fuel. With a lot of fuel, less problematic. I'd honestly be redoing all the lines in the tank and clamps on everything.   Also, you've given two different answers to the same question: Asked if being followed by the police you could get down to use the whole tank, you said yes you could, so long as you keep off boost. However, you then followed this up that free revving, it would also cause the issues. I'm doubting free revving is enough to make any noticeable boost on what is likely a decent sized turbo.   So now I have to ask, can you actually drive it lightly and use all the fuel, or does it break up even free revving? Also, have you put a fuel pressure gauge on it? Can you hear the pump change noise at all when you're having this issue?
