Savtraxx
does anyone know if it been done or what would be needed to mount wrx STI callipers on a r33? Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/417079-sti-calliper-on-a-33/ Share on other sites
GTSBoy
Is there a good reason to do this? Free calipers? Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/417079-sti-calliper-on-a-33/#findComment-6692361 Share on other sites

ichi-go
Would be same with mounting evo calipers, unless there is off the shelf dog bones, it will be too much trouble to try to fit them Rather just sell it and get GTR brembos Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/417079-sti-calliper-on-a-33/#findComment-6698894 Share on other sites
R31Nismoid
No point even Brembos these days with the D2 as cheap as they are. The cost to get the custom dog leg/lines made for non factory calipers, run a rebuild kit through them (as they will be 2nd hand) etc means its far more economical to just sell them and buy a NEW proper bolt on kit with the lot. Dose Pipe Sutututu
I remember like half a decade ago a forum member posted up some photos of similar kits snapping on the street or so. Lucky he didn't cause an accident. Probably why people still fear those aftermarket kits. They could be a lot better these days. R31Nismoid
Never heard of those kits breaking at all, in-fact many SAU users are now using them. WTAC cars using them as well for years, rumour rather than fact. Dose Pipe Sutututu
I'll find the post when I get home, it was from this very forum. Possibly better quality now Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/417079-sti-calliper-on-a-33/#findComment-6701882 Share on other sites

Dose Pipe Sutututu
http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/topic/167104-g4-d2-8-piston-brakes-the-diffinitive-review/ http://www.pexcom.com.au/z32cms/e107_plugins/content/content.php?content.479 I didn't mention any names in any of my posts, just what I have read in the past. Like I said, they could have improved dramatically over the past few years, same way Hyundai has evolved from Excels to top notch i30s Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/417079-sti-calliper-on-a-33/#findComment-6702018 Share on other sites
R31Nismoid
this could get interesting.... No it wont. It's obvious... They've fallen off after their first use... Sounds like it wasn't torqued up correctly, instructions are quite specific about that when you read them. Mine haven't fallen off in over 2.5 years, Duncan has been running them i think for 6 or 7 years... ssxRicho has done like 20+ track days on his and driven home fine each time and i know a dozen other guys running them, most being track cars. Bad spanner turning will always end badly. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/417079-sti-calliper-on-a-33/#findComment-6702401 Share on other sites
Dose Pipe Sutututu
I did also read that Duncan had his bracket and hat replaced for free because of clearance issues on the 1st generation of these brake kits, but it appears the clearance issues have been rectified because noone has spoken about it since then. Like I said earlier, they probably have gotten much better since their initial debut.. Duncan
yep sure did, the first kits had an issue with the offset to the ball joint, both mine and the donut king gtr had the issue and both were replaced. That was 7 years ago, I have been happily thrashing them regularly since without issues. Back on the STI calipers....even if they were free they are not a cheap option. Getting them to bolt up will require an adapter ($$), probably new brake lines ($$) and find and appropriate dsic ($$$). Better to buy a set of 33 gtst/32 gtr brakes if you want to go that way, but to me the d2 kits are unbeatable considering they come with new everything Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/417079-sti-calliper-on-a-33/#findComment-6702474 Share on other sites
