Gday guys,

Just a quickie. I went and looked at a potential purchase 250RS M35 yesterday and it had a mid-size antenna on the front left corner of the front bumper. The dealer selling it assumed it had something to do with the sat-nav or reversing camera (i assumed sat-nav)

Can anyone confirm or shed some light? I'm seriously considering buying the car but this was the only grey area I came across before I get the car fully checked over with my mechanic.

If all goes well and nothing comes up which blocks the sale I'll throw pics up if/when I make a purchase.

Cheers lads.

It's not too late to buy a C34 instead :P

If the "antenna" sticks up from the front left corner of the bumper and can be seen from the driver's seat, it is just a parking aid so you can see where the front corner of the car is. No actual antenna function

The only issue with the "antenna" is if you want to get rid of it down the track; it leaves a huge hole in the front bar.

You'd actually need a new bumper skin if you wanted it gone.

Good luck with the search.

yeah i figured it would leave holes etc...

My plan would be to colour-code the thing anyway as its totally stock with grey trim all round. I'm still looking into replacement parts for bumper, skirts etc.

I don't mind a bit of a project and tbh I will totally enjoy it after a 6 year absence from it.

Not wanting to tell you what to do; but unless the particular car was an amazing example with some decent add ons; why not keep looking?

See if you can find something with the factory Aero kit; much nicer looking than the base model "smiley face" front bumper.

The Aero kit is NOT cheap to source secondhand. I did it on my car; it would've been easier and a LOT cheaper to purchase one with the kit.

The better the base; the more fun you can have modding things you WANT to.

simple answer to that mate = price and a completely stock car. Oh and don't worry as i appreciate all opinions.

Granted i've only been looking with an intent to buy for just over a month but this is the colour I want and it is completely stock. I have been looking at M35's with no intention to buy for over a year now to keep in touch with pricing.

I agree that finding one with the odd few mods done already would be a good leg up but unless the car is perfect I'm not willing to pay upward of $15k for it (even though my budget is much more). It's just my preference to start with a blank canvas unless a prefect example with little to no mods pops up for less than $15k. I did it with my R33 (imported completely stock to save $$$) and I spent 6 years building it.

I'm not saying that random guy (a) with a M35 of the right colour and factory options with very minimal mods isn't worth $15k+ to him... but it's not worth that to me.

I'll be looking at another M35 in about a week as it comes in stock with a dealer in Adelaide so i'll be making comparisons.

oh and to give you an idea of immediate mods which I like to do asap and ones my budget allows for.

Wheels/coilovers

Audio (I'm a minimalist with audio)

Exhaust (all the way through)

Slotted brakes (yet to confirm if I'll do this.. most likely)

Depending on how much I buy the Stagea for will depend on how much I have left over after those initial mods plus I will sell my current car and put that cash into the kitty which i am hoping to do minimal power upgrades. If its anything like the R33 then I assume fuel pump, ECU, FMIC etc. I have yet to look into the best order for upping boost levels safely and its been a long time in between drinks for me.

Body styling will come after the above but I agree that the factory aero kits looks much nicer than the stock.

decisions, decisions... :)

Fair call, if you've been doing your research; go for it!

I did enjoy the endless hours trawling Yahoo Japan looking for bit, and the further endless days/moths waiting for them to arrive... :whistling:

Actually; it was a massive pain in the arse... :woot: But it did add satisfaction when it was all finished. ;)

Watching with interest to see what you find, and then how you modify.

thanks mate... i was only going to dedicate an hour trawling on the net today but 3 hours/6 pack later i'm still going :P

oh and I know what you mean about the pain of importing... I gave up trying to import a c-west carbon fibre bonnet in 2003 and got a knock off fibre glass bonnet wrapped in carbon fibre. It faded after 1 year but 3 coats of clear gloss and it looked amazing (even though it was a knock off) :P
