Have seen pic of wife, Luke's done well for himself lol.

Move to Toowoomba, it's beautiful ;)

And the biggest and may I add only point you should need is the fact that I live here, and the TSO boys always put on a mean feed and piss up (usually utilising Chris's house with attached pool)

... *although Tom (Tommis85) is the only one that swims in it, the rest of us are usually to drunk

Just move you won't regret it :)

You need a reason to come to the most laid back state in australia? Come on mang, srsly

If you want to make bulk money and can handle big hours, come on up, but i can almost guarentee that julia gillard will be sending you a xmas card funded by the tax you are giving her. The weather isnt as bad as some people make it out to be, i grew up in the centre of australia (near three ways road house on a cattle station) and that is hot lads, farkern hot. The beaches are kick ass, the pubs are kick ass, the lifestyle is kick ass, the locals are kick ass(mostly), and the monetary opportunities are kick ass. There are almost infinite holiday destinations at your doorstep as the country north of mackay changes yearly with the weather, you have the reef, awesome fishing, just yeah, stop bieng a phaggot and get up here lol. The only thing you may miss is the shopping and nightclubbing, its not as intense up here, and thats because nobody really gives a fcuk up here lol!

on a serious note though...

Brisbane employment is getting harder and harder due to all the Campbell Newmann cuts and general economic slow down.

Humidity rarely drops below 103%

GC is full of crime

The entire 2 weeks of winter gets pretty cold in Brisbane... well you'll think so after about 2 years up here.

I did the same as you are thinking back in 2006.

Do it..!

get a job offer before you move, obviously.

Southside of Brisbane generally has good transport due to some rather nice freeways, north and west side, not so much.

The racetrack isn't a good reason to move to Ipswich (its out of the city anyway), but houses there are cheaper, and due to the better new roads its not that hard to commute to the city from it.

was born in bris, but have have lived in most states in aus, ippy is the worst place iv'e called home accept for canberra. GC hinterland, maroochie coolum, happyrock is my pick, further north and you need a high tolerance to heat and bitties/ stingies

Mike.

will look into these places.

sorry ...

replace happyrock with maryborough

this was one of the places we were looking at.

Hot wheat her means that wimminz wear less clothing....

What sort of job? I work in recruitment? May be able to help. :)

am mechanic, but not sure if i want to stay in this profession.

im sick of the crap you have to put up with.

Whooaaaaa hold up!

Canberra isn't that bad haha

think of it this way.

you think you gf's hot?

date a lingerie model, then look back at your current missus.

and you will know what its like to leave canberra.

*note, i have not seen your missus, its just a comparison, meant for a laugh*

dont club, so that wont phase me.

i dont mind shopping, but alot i do online.

im more concerned about the heat and humidity.

i farking hate heat and humidity.

and its more the missus that wont leave sydney at the drop of a hat.

im pretty keen to make our way up there.

would have to organise jobs, and sell our house/pay off loan/apply for new loan for house where we want to move to.

Humidity is the killer, we normally average around 30 deg. in summer and 20 deg. in winter. Sydney and Melbourne get more and longer heat waves than we do up here. Where abouts are you thinking of moving to? Greater Brisbane or one of the northern towns?

not sure, I like the SE corner.

but I also want to stay with range of at least a drag strip.

I like keeping my antics off street.

Well I'm at the very north end of Brisbane and it's about an hour drive to the nearest drag strip, Lakeside is about 5 minutes up the road and the 2 best mountain runs are only about 15 min away. So within greater Brisbane you will be about 1 hour from the drags.

Yah stay north side...don't let anyone talk you into going south of that river ;)

Seriously though, keep out of Logan and the west or have a very serious amount of security on your line.

    • Have a vb in honour of the car comming back
    • It was a great, but typical track day, and some VB was ingested at the night time debrief 🤪
    • And so, to round this out, I couldn't be happier to confirm @MBS206 has decided to buy the car. He drove down from sunny QLD with a trailer last week and it is off to its new home today. I'll let Matt confirm on next steps but I understand broadly that the plan is to leave it pretty much as is, and just get some quality wheel time with a nicely balanced car that is pretty much track ready. There are a few a jobs still to be done first but nothing too major and I think its a very smart buy Dinner last night at the Paragon with a round of VBs (mostly) for Neil
    • Well, 50 pages and the end of a chapter for this car. We took it out for a shakedown at Wakie yesterday, and everything went well. There were a couple of niggles: - Oil cooler fitting leak - tightened, cleaned, stopped leaking - Radiator cap overflow fitting was leaking....Mark called it, the overflow fitting was threaded in and not tight....tightened, tested and held pressure - Small oil leak at the rear of the block, probably the turbo oil feed - too hot to get at it comfortably but probably just needs to be nipped up - leak at the driver's side rear brake line where it meets the hardline. Fitting wasn't loose, so Matt backed it off and back on, no further leaks - there's also a leak somewhere on the top of the fuel tank, maybe that cross over fuel line - that was has been left to fix when its on a hoist Otherwise than those niggles the car went great, turned great and stopped great so it was a very successful day out. I'm always really nervous when a car first hits the track after a long break, especially with a brand new engine as well but it was great. VID-20251011-WA0007.mp4  Big thanks to @The Bogan who dropped by and helped out, @MBS206 and my nephew Lachlan the apprentice.  Neil's wife Mel also surprised the hell out of all of us by dropping by; she's up in Tamworth these days but was travelling to Melbourne so had plausible deniability for turning up at the garage, it was great to see her but also obviously a bit sad all round.
