this might be interpreted wrong but here goes anyway.

seems to me the execs, or whoever runs the place, realised on thursday it is not their forums in as much as we (the general public, not just the aussies) make them what they are. i can almost imagine the panic that went on when they realised their technical forums are going to suffer immensly from losses like meggala and boostmeister.

ONARUN you so full of it mate. I have no idea where you get your missinformation. You are here in your cozie little corner spouting of why things are happening and half of it is crap.

The reason the forums were shut down the first time was all the fighting going on! Who were the main culprits? People from Australia. Now I am not sayin everyone is bad or anything other than the last bouts were from users from there not finacial club members. You guys do not pay our bills, or attend our functions. Our club members do and honestly they dictate how the club is run. Not a bunch of users from around the world.

I do not want to see our forums closed down like this, and none of the execs really do either, but if that is what it takes to end the crap then that is the course we have to go down to protect our interests not yours.

I have been browsing your forums here and already have seen Prank on at least 9 threads mention about post whoring after a few posts in a thread. FFS you guys can come onto our forums and post like there is no tomorrow and it is cool. Do it here and it is a different story.

Post whoring was never an issue other than two who seemed they were having a compitition who had the highest total, BFD. The rest was cool until all the infighting. We started to clamp down hoping to piss off the trouble makers so the rest could enjoy thier stay.

Technical information? Hey mate that was there way before you silly ass showed, and half of what you guys know you learnt from our forums or website so get it right, the other half is a crock. Three local tuners have view them and they laughed at the amounts of crap information put up. Mario GTR has done great, so has forsteen. Mario cant be bothered with your lot here half the time as how many times has his own countrymen slagged him off, yet he is doing the hard work and showing the improvments while the rest of you guys are always breaking things.

We have not made a final decision yet as we are still talking with our current financial members. If that is what they want then it goes through. We already have a database set up and could lock the forums tonight. That has been set for the past two weeks. What we are still sorting is those that have already donated via pay pal. Once done it may or may not be locked down. Again that is up to the club members and not the execs to deicide that. We will do a vote via email and once tallied the decision will be final. So get off your high horse and put blame where it belongs on you guys!

You're being a little harsh razor, if the new zealand guys want to close their forums off to non members then they have every right to. But in the long run they will suffer from it. When you have that many members there is bound to be a few f'wits posting shit here and there. It's happened at every large forum on the web. Making people pay to use the site will more then likely stop a lot of the crap from being posted, it will also alienate a lot of good users who contribute in one way or another to the forums. Whether it be through technical advice or otherwise. It doesn't matter where someone comes from, if they're a f**kwit, they're gunna act like one. But yous have to do what you have to do, i just hope that they can live with the consiquences what ever they shall be.

but what does that have to do with the forums? - as far as i know PH hosts the forums out his own pocket.

[b:52d3cd876e]"Technical information? Hey mate that was there way before you silly ass showed, and half of what you guys know you learnt from our forums or website so get it right, the other half is a crock"[/b:52d3cd876e]

thats a pretty self absorbed comment there dude. and while it may be true to an extent i think your missing ONARUN's point. he was saying that the forums would be missing out on alot of resources and information. theres a limited amount of written down info on these cars and most of the info both in australia and overseas that i have come across is from EXPERIENCE. id imagine the amount of skylines in australia would be approaching or equalling the amount in NZ (esp with new NZ laws) and you dont think we can make a significant contribution?

"So get off your high horse and put blame where it belongs on you guys!"

us guys? by that you mean australians? well i have to say that MOST of the australians on the forums are useful participants. trouble makers make up very few of us. you seem to think that australia is the problem with SDU which i have to disagree with - i understand that the clubs interests need to be addressed above everything else and i dont think anyone has an issue with that. but it isnt just us australians who start problems in SDU, and more often thhan nt its the NZ's who are actually on their high horse trying t look down oon others

dude - i havent met you, i have no problem with you and i understand why you came in here and defended SDU, but why not post a defence as youd expect to be posted in SDU, insult free

Thats because I have set a dedicated whoring section hoping that we can keep all posts in other sections 90% relevant. I am guilty of whoring myself, half of my posts arn't relevant and I am trying to keep it on topic all the time from now on.

I dont appreciate your post, i think its uncalled for and your generalising is just going to piss people off and cause more shit between us and SDU, try to rethink your tactics.

If you want to cause shit, post it on SDU where I dont have to deal with it, as this is currently on my site and my forums and we dont yet have a code of conduct or terms and conditions and therefor its me who this all falls on when shit gets ugly.

this might be interpreted wrong but here goes anyway.

hmm, i thought as much. Razor, I understand your frustration so I'm not gonna put fuel in the fire. You have every right to say what you did, but you coulda been nicer about it. :)

ONARUN you so full of it mate. I have no idea where you get your missinformation. You are here in your cozie little corner spouting of why things are happening and half of it is crap.[/quote:035b01e252]

I'm also in your forums trying to help keep things in check if you have read some of my posts. Are you gonna tell me Arithon isn't running around in damage control mode trying to settle ppl down virtually begging them to stay.

I do not want to see our forums closed down like this, and none of the execs really do either, but if that is what it takes to end the crap then that is the course we have to go down to protect our interests not yours.[/quote:035b01e252]

you know as much as everyone else that will signal your end. infact things will never be the same as it is now, so you might as well try it. have you checked your post counts over the last 3 days and the amount of visitors. tsk tsk

i can tell you we've had nearly 100 new members in 4 days. so thanks i guess...

you said it all there mate. you are protecting your interests not ours. so tell me now, who's interests will be affected if you go pay to post? yours or ours?

you might eliminate the crap but you will also eliminate the essence of your tech forum.

in life (and especially the internet) you take the good with the bad. you seem to think sdu is something special. i think you should get off your high horse.

if i offended you in some way i do apologise as i didn't set out to do this. you however have offended me but who cares about me right.

go ahead and protect your interests. if this is how you do it, you won't have any interests to protect very soon.

George

Hey Shell, I like the new Avatar. R400 would suit ya.[/quote:0e039e3266]

ain't that the truth!

nice to see you here Darren! :)

As for all the other stuff....I hope that SDU realise that this Australian forum and site was going to happen anyway, regardless of whether SDU went pay-to-post or whatever! We weren't getting anywhere trying to organise an Australian club thru the SDU forums.

How about SDU do whatever they have to do over there...and we do what we need to over here to get our club happening...and maybe as two clubs with a common interest we can stop bickering and come together to help each other out.

rasor when you get your fact straight and stop with your uninformed bullshit I'll listen.

your the main reason why I might not post much on sdu any more.

I cant believe your ignorance.

go and have an arguement with your mates on sdu negativity is not welcomed here.

I posted what I did because according to [b:4bb482b6c7][u:4bb482b6c7]you[/u:4bb482b6c7][/b:4bb482b6c7] they were going to be shut down because they were costing so much money to run.

so we are going to form our own club and do our own thing.

btw razor I'll be posting much less in there from now on so if you care so much you can answer the newbies questions.

cheers

meggala[/b]

People People Aussie people,

Don't get too stressed about these comments. They're only trying to start shit. Just chill. We all know our club won't have the bitchyness and arguments over nothing like SDU has. Don't bother flaming back, don't become as low as them. We will be the ones laughing later on down the track when we have a successful club which is peaceful, unlike SDU of late. There's too much politics involved. A Car Club is supposed to be fun, not stressful. SDU may have been helpful in the past, and given many of us the knowledge we now have, but that was then not now. Give up on it, Just let the New Zealanders have their damn board. Skylines Australia will be up in no time and i have no doubt in my mind it will become as helpful and fun to us all as SDU used to be

Laterz

    • My experience with Rising Sun Exports Before agreeing to the sale I tried to do as much research as I could (obviously), his Facebook reviews are 98% and he goes Live at least once or twice a week. I contacted 2 people in the UK who had used him for their imports, both had positive feedback. His explanation and talk through of the import process was thorough, answering any query no matter how stupid it was. It felt as soon as the money was sent, communication dropped off. I asked for shipping updates every 2 weeks or so, not wanting to pester him, he never had any updates. I wasn't informed the car had been dropped off at the port, I only found out by his Facebook story. I asked for the photos taken at the port, knowing he would need some for insurance purposes. I received a few 5 second clips and that's it. When asked again, he said his staff had them. Weeks later I asked again, he tells me he doesn't have any, but does have 50 photos from the original advert. I never received them. I eventually got the documents sent via WhatsApp after I mentioned the port was requesting them. I purchased a CarVX report, to find out the vehicle is a Grade R with recorded accident damage, first recorded in 2017 when it was first auctioned. He never told me the grade, then again I didn't ask. His response was "Grade R means nothing, it wasn't chassis damage". Still, I would have liked to have been informed about it. Jon prides himself on being open and honest when it comes to inspecting cars, it's his main job doing so at the auctions for customers. When the vehicle arrived in the UK I noticed a few little cosmetic issues. It's a 21 year old car so it wasn't going to be mint condition. The side skirts are cracked on each corner and the sealant is failing. The front grill on the bonnet/hood isn't secured very well, mounting studs are missing. Both minor things, but again, it would have been nice to be told. During a Facebook Live walk around video of the vehicle, he mentioned it has a front Whiteline anti roll bar/sway bar. While on the inspection ramp, I noticed the stock item has been installed. When first questioned, his response was "the ARB? Switched? Since when, it never had them". Since sending video and photo evidence I've not received a response. I'm probably being over critical of the overall condition of an old car, but all I wanted was honesty (which he claims to have). I'm aware I wasn't his only customer, he's busy doing XYZ but other reviews praise him for great communication with regular updates and photos, I felt I didn't receive the same treatment.
    • I was able to get some underside photos while the car was on the ramp The suspension is all Altezza/IS200/IS300 so getting part's will hopefully be less of a headache
    • Welcome to my 2004 Toyota Mark ii IR-V Fortuna (series 2) With a 1JZ-GTE powerplant under the bonnet (hood) it'll give me plenty of scope for power upgrades. For those who aren't familiar with imports, the 1JZ-GTE is a 2.5L 6 cylinder VVTi engine with a single turbocharger. This has the factory R154 5 speed gearbox, along with a aftermarket 2 way LSD differential (brand unknown). Under the arches are a set of CST Zero 1 alloys, 18x9 +30 225/40 up front and 18x9.5 +15 265/35 on the rear. The car was quite low in Japan and there's evidence of the wheels catching the rolled arches/fenders. The tyre's aren't great so I'm in two minds whether to replace both or just the tyres and put up with the wider wheels on the rear. The car still uses stock brakes with the addition of some braided hoses. The exterior is stock with the exception of a BN Sports front bumper and a replacement Fortuna grill  Moving to the interior, the steering wheel has been replaced with a dished MOMO steering wheel (which will get swapped for my Momo Tuner for the time being) Defi Link Gauges are mounted above the climate controls and on the A pillar, the Oil Temp,Oil Pressure,Water Temp and Boost gauges should help with spirited and track driving  The stock seats have been replaced with some retrimmed Recaro bucket seats. Being a larger build these are a little snug, unfortunately the orange isn't for me so I'll look into replacing these down the line. Other modifications include a twin plate clutch, Blitz intercooler, Evolve alloy radiator, a stainless exhaust with decat, HKS EVC-S boost controller and coil overs
    • Apologies for the long read My R34 GTT was up for sale at the beginning of spring due to a few repairs creeping up. The strut tops needed replacing, roof and bonnet (hood) painting (yay for 3 stage pearl) and the underside stripped and treated. I sold the car which allowed me to be in a much better place financially. Leading up to the sale I was already thinking about the replacement. In an ideal world it needed to be a good all-rounder. Something I can mess around with, modify, do track days, do the school run, go on long drives etc.  Options included but not limited to... Laurel C35, Evo 8/9, Civic FD2, Impreza Hawkeye, Aristo and even an Audi S4 Avant (I've already got the Mazda 6 wagon). But there was always one car at the top of the list The Toyota Mark ii JZX110 I found an advert on a Facebook group for an example in Japan, from a seller called Jon at Rising Sun Exports. A few messages back and forth and Jon calls me from Yokohama one morning (or afternoon in his case). He briefly explained the import process, the costs involved and a repeat of the advert. After much deliberation, the price was agreed and the sale was locked in. I've never imported a vehicle so I jumped into the unknown head first. The money transfer was completed through wise.com (fees apply), very easy to use and the money was with him within a day or two.  The car suspension was raised for the vessel and the car dropped off at the port. It was 7 weeks later when the bill of lading was received and the freight invoice sent to me, followed by the export certificate a couple of days after (both digital copies) In the mean time the port had been in contact. I needed an agent to deal with the NOVA (notification of vehicle arrival) along with the tax/duty invoice, this was £75.00. The port also had a fee of £100, I'm guessing to cover the cost of the 10 day 'free storage' and for moving the car off the boat etc. They need a copy of the vehicle invoice, freight invoice and export certificate to allow the vehicle to pass through customs. The vessel arrived on Tuesday 5th August, the tax/duty invoice was generated and sent over. This is generally tax 20% and duty 10% of the vehicle value. Although the invoice came in at a higher amount than I had calculated. Once HMRC had received the payment the vehicle could be released from customs. I thought once the tax/duty was paid you could collect at any point, that's not the case. Your agent will need to book a collection slot, I requested Thursday 7th which was accepted, with a 9:00am slot allocated. It was a 5:00am start from Norfolk heading to Southampton. We eventually found the compound, upon presenting the bill of lading and some ID they released the car (they drove it out of the compound to the front ready for us to load up). The email from the port stated each slot had a 10 minute window, which seemed abit farfetched but the staff said it's not a strict rule. We were there for approx. 30-40 mins in total. A week prior to collecting I contacted my garage and explained the situation, I was able to get an inspection slot that afternoon. For the registration, DVLA require the car to be insured, for this I used a company called Adrian Flux who can insure the vehicle using the VIN number.
