ausdrift
A simple, but important part of the car. Im not sure if this is related to my audio install of a week ago (im going to check a few things on that tommorow to see if its related) but in the past few days i have noticed my indicators have stopped working. Or more specifically, they work sporadically. Like driving to work, nothing, then later its ok, then next day nothing. and by nothing, i mean you pull the lever up or down and no noise, no light on dash, just dead. And nope, its not the fuse. Is this a normal failure, and if so what part needs to be changed, and do you have a part number/price? of what should i be looking for? ideas? thanks all Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/418059-help-indicators-dont-work/ Share on other sites

GTR-N1
It can't be the fuse anyway because it's sporadic. Connection via indicator stalk may need resoldering or at the least, contact cleaner spray Vs oxidation. ausdrift
Would I need to remove the wheel to get to the stalk? Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/418059-help-indicators-dont-work/#findComment-6712832 Share on other sites
xntrq
Remove the steering column surround and see how you go. I have a indicator switch if you need. With my 34, indicators wouldn't work without a hazard switch plugged in, give that a check as well. t_revz
Only 2 screws and I think 2 plugs hold the stalk to the column once the surround is off There is a cover on the stalk that pops off and the contacts can be cleaned but its a little tricky getting it off and the contacts can fall out if your not careful. I've had to clean mine when I couldn't get them to turn off Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/418059-help-indicators-dont-work/#findComment-6712982 Share on other sites

Akshunhiro
I'd check the hazard switch before ripping the stalk off. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/418059-help-indicators-dont-work/#findComment-6713234 Share on other sites
ausdrift
took the indicator stalk out, cracked it open and cleaned it up. Put it back and it works now. ill give it a few days or driving before i consider it a fix though, but looking good so far Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/418059-help-indicators-dont-work/#findComment-6713536 Share on other sites
mad082
I'd check the hazard switch before ripping the stalk off. this is something for others to keep in mind if they have the same issue (since the OP may have solved his issue). the indicator stalk isn't the only thing that can cause the indicators to stop working. if you unplug the hazard switch the indicators won't work at all.
