Shannon's wanted $2700 for my taxi spec 250GT. Even though I have 60% NCB, over 30, clean history, and was with them for 6 years with my 200, etc... went to Just Cars instead. Also saved 1k by insuring the 200 with LSV

Just insured with Lumley Special Vehicles. Found them to be the best price and not as stringent at what Shannon's wanted.

Paying $1,150 for the 2006 V36 350GT SP.

Gave me the agreed value I wanted and didn't kick up a stink about it not being in a garage.

You could also try Dawes Underwriting agency. I have been told they do imports and exotics. Reason why I didn't go with them is that they wanted a proposal form filled out prior to offering me any price. It was much easier to call Lumley and do it over the phone without a hassle.

Good luck with insurance.

'I think Lumley wont accept any FI modded cars and accidents in the last 5 years?

Just rang around some insurance companies.. I WAS paying $1650 premium with NRMA with my mum as owner but it goes off the youngest driver anyway, I'm 21.

JustCar just quoted me $862 (lowest premium, highest excess) and $2200 excess.. Pretty stoked about that.. Got $1100 refund off NRMA also :)

Lumley is who i am now with, car $30,000 $980 or something, $500 excess. With turbo $1500ish, windscreen cover, rating one protection.

NRMA is a rip, i had 2 vehicles with them, they were not willing to price match anyone to keep my business, they didnt even ask the price match amount...

Just car was $1400 but value $20,900. LSV rock !

I just called Lumley Special vehicles - they do a discount for members of the Skylines Australia forums.

For 2003 350GT coupe - a value of $22k, $500 excess, I was quoted $616.

Windscreen + rating 1 were an extra $100 total.

Has anyone had to make a claim through them before?

NORMA are famous for bumping premiums and hoping you just pay up without noticing. Works with commercial entities more than private though.

Also, using the law of averages to extreme, the longer you go without an accident means one is coming sooner, so premiums creep up to entice you to shift your business for when you have to claim.

    • I can get more photos of it here soon and I plan to make a thread detailing the process. I received the car this way and it sorely needs refinishing. That is probably the most appealing photo of it. Up close it is fading, cracked, and needs to be re-glued. Depending on their condition I'm on the fence between refinishing or making a new set.  Another angle hiding the pimples and razor pumps
    • According to this thread the RS4V with build plate RC40 comes with the R200 diff @ 4.083 ratio as well (mine has said RC40 denotation). We may need to check if the axle stubs are the same pattern as well. The auto subframes have longer axles. However I think yours being a later Series 2 as well, we should have the same bolt pattern for the diff stubs. Unless your upgraded rear also has upgraded axles. Either way, I would not be opposed to pulling the covers to check so I can inspect that  fancy rear core  Also I don't have HICAS. I don't believe that should change things but I hope the people here with heaps more experience than me can correct me if I'm wrong   Let me know if you want to attempt to make this work and I can get some pictures of mine from under the car.
    • It's not that straightforward. For example I have had this code because my ignitor/power transistor wires were unplugged. It knows something is wrong but has no idea what it means. If you want to actually diagnose this I recommend following the service manual flowchart for code 21. Ohm out the harness, coilpacks, inspect the ECU, etc. And again, it's entirely possible for there to be no problem at all but if you're running a different coilpack it'll trigger the code because it doesn't like what it sees.
    • If it (the code) wasn't still current, it should have gone away by itself by now. No, nothing it 10/10. But it is quite likely. Everything else to do with the ignition could still be responsible (which is wires and connectors). The car is an old piece of shit now, so all the wires and connectors are also old pieces of shit.
    • Lock me in mate, although I'm not sure if I'll be heading up from Goulburn or down from Sydney, either way, return will be back to Goulburn
