Ok, apologies for not being on here for such a long time.

BUT. Driving along minding my own business a little while back, engine loses all power, revs drop lower, lower, foot to the floor, lower, cuts out.

Pull over (with no power steering mind you). Off. On. Starts. Nice, keep driving.

500m up the road, bam happens again.

Got it home. Idles fine.

Replaced the fuel pump (thought it could have been an intermittent pressure issue).

Also swapped the PowerFC for the stock ECU.

Drove for a few hours, then all of a sudden, same story. WTF?! :verymad:

Any ideas? I tried checking connections on the upper area of the engine (TPS, Cam Angle, coils, injectors, etc...)

Might have to bite the bullet and try limp it to a local diagnostics place.

a boost leak turned mine to crap one day, not quite like yours. mine wouldnt rev over 2000rpm under load, free rev at 8000rpm. hose clamp wasnt tightened at all and the hose was letting alot of air out under boost.

Nah, new battery, all is sweet. Plenty of electrical power.

Just the revs drop, and drop, and drop. Cuts out. Can start again with little to no problems, then it does it again.

Will update once I get it scanned and fixed.

+1 for boost leak, recently I blew a the last silicone pipe of my turbo exact same thing happened, everything died including steering, car cuts out, would start again bit just rev lower and die, check all your cooler/turbo pipes it might look fine so try jiggling them around thats how I spotted mine, nrma guy told me I had a blown turbo (made a loud noise when it happened so I believed him) so I got it towed it to be told all I needed was a screw driver to fix it

    • I know people cry at the price of the Getrag 12-14k for a conversion now, but it really is a nice mid point. Not going to get change from 10k on a gearset installed.  $30k++ for sequential.   I know you run the risk of a damaged used one and parts are hard to get but as a street car gearbox its really hard to beat. If you enjoy a more traditional manual, its the choice no question.
