Yer, i really don't want to leave it on the street overnight. I have had two cars keyed in the past and it's heartbreaking not to mention expensive.

I have seen some 'loading ramps' made from lightweight aluminum that are used to load mini excavators/bobcats etc onto trucks - but they are about $400.....bit exxy.

The other idea I had was to get one of those plastic speed humps you see in car parks - i reckon if i put it in just the right place it might help 'hop' the front bar over that part of the drainage dip. They cost about $70 - and I could probably get that past the council as it's not a trip hazard.

We installed a speed hump made out of rubber to prevent the front splitter of the GT-R from scraping.

After trying different positions over half an hour, we got it right.

Masonry bolts are drilled into the concrete, but later on, they can be removed (when you move again).

Corporate Body is understanding?

I had a similar issue. My driveway is quite steep, and my exhaust was always scraping on the road when I drove into the driveway. Then, about halfway up, it dips, then increases the gradient again. I bought a sheet of 20mm MDF from Bunnings for $30, cut it into rectangles about 50cm long by 20cm wide, glued 2 together so its total thickness was about 40mm, and drilled them into the concrete using masonry bolts, so they can be removed later. I only had to put 2 at the bottom of the driveway, and then another 2 halfway up. As long as you get the tyres on the boards on your way up and down, it doesn't scrape at all anymore. I also got one of those EZ Lips for my front bar, as its made out of foam, it stops the concrete scratching my bar if there is any issues.

I've got one of those rubber lips, not fitted yet - how do they stand up to the scrapes? do they start looking ratty after a bit?

if it was my house i'd reconcrete it, or at the very least drill a ramp on. But......I can't. I might have to ghetto rig some boards up and just slot them under when I go in and out.......and start whoring myself to afford a cup kit.

Thanks Terry, i might experiment with a bit of wood first, see if that sort of solution would work for me. Would be a good 'inoffensive' addition to the street scape though.

I got the rubber for free, I'll take a pic tomorrow. Went to playground and council was installing some and had off cuts, they gave me a strip. Maybe ring up council and ask if they doing any playgrounds and have left overs ?

Your 20mm lower than stock and your complaining.......please

Your 20mm lower than stock and your complaining.......please

Your point?

Anyone can drive in to the garage and wind their coilovers down til the threads run out, but if you can't get the car back out of the driveway, what's the point?

And smash a $1200 front bar into the concrete until something gives?

Unless you measure 'manliness' by the ability to break things, then I dunno how that would 'manning up'?

Not really constructive input but thanks for dropping by.

Sorry mate, that content doesn't show on iPad/iPhone. I didn't see it. My bad.

Bought some sleepers from bunnings today, cut them to length and bolted some handles to them to make moving them around easier. It sorts out the front bar clearance, but not the exhaust/rear subframe unless I get the entry mm perfect......groan.

    • So either way it is gearbox out and look what is wrong?  I know about the input shaft bearing. Even before swap/new clutch the it sounded exactly like this: So is that inout shaft bearing or the other was installed backwards?  And can some please tell me the part number for that input shaft bearing? The gearbox is small box from R34 N/A and number is FS5W71C. Thank you
    • I am yet to see anyone ever regret a quaife or helical. ...other than drifting/skidpan duties. I kind of want to upgrade my factory helical with a Quaife (but really it's not ultimately that different, and is a MASSIVE UNDERTAKING), that's how good the hype is about them, that I want to try them 'just to see'
    • D2 and Ksport are essentially the same thing and basically just generic Taiwanese manufacture. Better than ChinaBay crap, but... not top shelf. Öhlins have got to be some of the best dampers around, so likely to be a good option. It's going to get to the point though where I suggest you buy from Oz. We have at least 2x excellent options here. If I were you though, I'd be talking to KW about doing something for the R33. There's bugger all difference between that and the 32. In GTR land, anyway.
    • KW only offers a set for the R32 GTR. Popular options are D2 racing, Ksport or Öhlins. I have a D2 Racing coilover set, though I don't know for sure which one.
    • Well, the good news is you have more than one very good option for new coilovers in and around your country. Worth the drive over to KW to talk about GTR stuff.
