After Some Guidance Or Just A Slap In The Back Of The Head..

Hey guys,

Removed my intercooler piping to replace some bolts that I noticed were missing on my cam cover.

Now this is the stupid part.. I can't seem to fit my intercooler pipe back on. I'm usually alright at DIY stuff and it shouldn't be this hard, right?

I feel like an idiot (probably am :)) any tips on putting it back in?

(GYM Maybe?)

I just can't seem to push the pipe in far enough into the silicone hose and don't want to blowing off when I do drive the car.

ONE MORE!

Car hasn't been started in about 1 month due to my battery getting drained over time by something unknown.. I'm gettin a battery charger soon, but was wondering how long you can leave a car without starting it..?

If you always leave it for weeks/months without starting get those connections that allows you to trickle charge without removing the terminal cables.

The immobiliser drains charge over time. and anything left on by mistake.

With my GTR I dont like to leave it for greater than a fortnight or starting becomes an issue.

IC piping can be a pain as the silicon joiners sometimes are "just long enough".

Correct - use strength, and a bit of spray (WD40 as a lubricant). Persaverance is the only way.

Clamp well and ensure behind the raised bit.

Sorry, aftermarket intercooler w/ custom piping.

Car is r32 rb20det

With the battery I wasn't aware it was draining until it wouldn't start one day. But yes will be disconnecting when not in use from now on.

Disconnect negetive terminal when car not in use and what type of car is it? Stock or aftermarket I/c?

Do this.

Im living in Perth and have a GT30 R33 in NZ, it sits there for months and months at a time with the -ve disconnected.

When i do eventually make it home and start it, it fires first crank. Starter motor barely turns.

I quite like the little solar cell float chargers for cars that sit around. You want one with a decent controller in it (not the nasty Supercheap/Jaycar style ones) so that you don't risk any overcharging. And you don't use one with a ciggy lighter plug on it because the ciggie lighter isn't in circuit with the ignition off!! Crocodile clips or a permanently wired socket are the only options. But it's better than having anything electronic in the car lose its memory from being unpowered.

    • A group of friends hired the local drag strip off season, cold weather and no prep means it was super slippery but still allowed for a fun day of 1/8th mile (no ambo meant we couldn't do side by side 1/4) roll racing and Dragy runs.   The wee BMW didn't embarrass itself at all considering the 2WD group I was competing in had a couple of supercharged V8s (an LSA and a blown LS2), a 600kw M135i, a 500kw R32 GTS-t and some other spicy things - I actually ended up beating the blown LS2 & 600kw M135i heads up in roll races and faced the GTS-t in the final, losing by just over a carlength which is far more than I was counting on with a very mildly tinkered with M135i.   For transparency sake this was EVERYTHING to do with being a fairly short distance on a shit track and having something without any lag and a brilliant gearbox, on a prepped track or a full 1/4 I'd have been destroyed. I did do a single sneaky full (well actually turns out I hit the brakes 10 or so metres early) 1/4 mile Dragy run and hit 12.88 @ 109mph on the brakes which is precariously close to my PB in my old GT30R GTS25t that ran 12.6 @ 111mph on Hoosiers  Pretty damn stoked with that considering I had a single attempt, and despite seeming well suited to the conditions vs the higher power cars and the time slip not looking THAT bad I still was having to work hard to not just do a rolling burnout <100kph and doesn't really show it's best at all.  I am pretty sure it would happily match the old R33 with a full run on a better surface
    • Thanks! Shame you got rid of yours. Guys are getting insane power out of them with the newer turbos these days instead of the venerable K04. Just jumped on Carsales and realised that my old Flog is considered low mileage due to it being parked up for close to a decade.
    • I love this. I still have a special place in my heart for Mk4's. 
    • Yep, don't play much so I'd possibly catch it in the weekend.
