Hi all,

Are the brushes on the stageas alternator replaceable? Don't mind if they're part of the voltage regulator, just so long as the brushes are removable without dismantling the entire alternator.

Mine are just about worn out; every now and then I have to tap the alternator with a small hammer to get the charge light to go out.

Alternator gave up again tonight. Brushes don't look to be accessible without disassembling the alternator somewhat.

Has anybody tried other alternator options - M35's have higher-rated alternators, and they look similar. V35 possibly higher again. Or even good old R33/R34?

Thanks guys,

The only thing which concerns me about non-stagea-specific parts is the fittment of the body/distance from the belt and the size and grooving of the pulley - it must be pretty critical that these are the same (M35 is different)?

Bob I contacted Russman about his '33 one (the grooves are the same, and the body *looks* the same, so it's a $75+p/h chance...) Thanks for spotting that :)

just found the one i got, its remanufactured, meaning cleaned up with new regs and such. its ARJ036. its been fine on my rs260.

im pretty sure the alternators are the same. I remember researching it ages ago and that apparently over the life of the rb25/26 Nissan has used like 6 different models of alternators from different suppliers. all have same dimensions/pulleys/amps. and that's when I found the rb 20 and rb30 also have the same just older. however note that the commodore rb30 alternator is different to the skyline rb30. as for the starter I just googled around on the day that it conked out and found people using the rb30 starter on various rb25/26 engine and gearbox setups

    • Agreed, I've never seen a 260RS specific manual. As GTSBoy said it will mostly be stagea other than the engine loom https://www.hgeconsulting.com.au/stageaservicemanual.pdf
    • You'lll likely have to make do with R33 GTR for engine/tranny stuff, and Stagea for the body. I don't know that there's even been an actual diagram seen in the wild.
    • Haha, i kow right? Could have bought so many cars for the same amount of money (or less) but driving Unicorn gives you at least +1mln to style 😅. Like wise man said "life's to short to drink cheap wine and drive boring cars" 😉
    • Newbie here, proud owner of an Autech 260RS. I'm on the hunt for wiring diagrams specific to the 260RS, particularly S1. I've ran my eyes through R33, R34 Diagrams, there are some similarities, however continue to find incorrect wire colours and pins on connectors in the 33,34 diagrams.   I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction? I'd be happy to pay for the originals in Japanese. I can translate them, at least they would be accurate.   Any help please would be greatly appreciated, never heard an RB26DETT before let alone driven one, and I've got a spaghetti monster of goodness to sort out.   Cheers Benny
