25 Det Neo Vct Removal

hi, im stripping down a neo head and im removing the cams but cant work out how to remove the vct unit off the inlet cam unlike the exhaust which is just 4X 10mm bolts

any ideas please?

Take of cam cover. There are flats for a shifter to hold cam and stop it from turning. At the front of the cam

^^ thats not my problem, i know how to stop the cam from turning. im asking how to remove the vct unit from the cam

hmmm. I did it recently can't remember any other tricks. There is another bolt under the cover held on the front, a bigger bolt. undo both. Might just have to gently tap it. It does come off

the front of the vct unit has only a hex head in the centre of it. . to get the cams out i need to take off the inlet/ exhaust "sprockets" and then remove the two bolts holding the rear timing cover on

the cams will then lift out

I had the vct off to change cam seals. Wasn't hard.

undo the hex head bolt. take off the cover, some oil will drip out, undo next larger hex head bolt, remove vct.

The vct is held on by one large bolt, not like the exhaust cam.

Yes, but not sure on that image. Just googled rb25 vct. Looks The same as what I saw on my neo head.

Yeh that's the same as the Neo setup, had mine off not long ago to adjust the cam timing.

That image is a non neo head due to external oil drain. But vct same

got the vct unit off, the hex bolt was tight as all hell tho
