GTRAAH
Just wondering about these things are all basically the same inside and do brand names really matter in this case? Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/429337-oil-catch-can/ Share on other sites
zoomzoom
Actually all the ones Ive bought were empty inside. I made my own filter with steel wool and made partitions to force the vapour to flow in one direction through the wool. 1 Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/429337-oil-catch-can/#findComment-6946461 Share on other sites

GTRAAH
empty?? that cant be right I thought they have steel wool inside... the way my setup goes >>> I have air to oil separator ontop of the head and the leads going into the oil catch can.. Now this setup i bought off hioctane and its the one that sits in front off battery.. Problem is i want a more powerful battery that can hold a charge with out going to much bigger the one I wanted was the yellow top d34 750 cca but it wont fit because of the catch can.. I spoke to kyle@ hioctane and he said why dont I go braille they are smaller and can pack a punch, my question now is can they hold a good long charge, what do you think of these batteries? Example can I leave the car off for 2 weeks for example and the car will start up without an issue? Not like I am going to do it but I'm just giving you an example of what kind of battery I want... I most likely will be starting it every week. I want the most powerfull battery that is this size or smaller >>234mm Length 200mm Height 135mm width I will get one of those terminal switches which you rotate and it cuts out the current to the battery so its like the battery has been unplugged this is If I don't turn it on for longer than a week Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/429337-oil-catch-can/#findComment-6952372 Share on other sites
Piggaz
^^ Buy a trickle charger. When you get home, put it on charge. Problem solved. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/429337-oil-catch-can/#findComment-6952379 Share on other sites
Ben C34
Heaps of catch cans are empty. which means they are crap, but with a little effort can be turned into a proper oil air separator. GTRAAH
No cant be bothered with the trickle charger, I don't drive the car everyday only on weekends and sometimes I skip a weekend even just depends and I usually have it under a car port + storm cover over it + a tarp over the lot ,I'd rather just switch the terminal off, don't want to run power cord out side. I just want to know what a strong small battery like my dimensions above and also has a slow discharge .. how is Braille, i heard they are are smallest for the strength they are? Kopplz R33
you can buy little solar trickle chargers which clamp onto the battery and have small leads, and you sit that beside your wheel on the ground facing the sky Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/429337-oil-catch-can/#findComment-6955682 Share on other sites
zoomzoom
^^ Buy a trickle charger. When you get home, put it on charge. Problem solved. Yep. Even a cheap battery can be maintained for many years by an automatic trickle charger. Digital ones are cheap, just connect to the battery, turn it on and it will automatically begin charging when it detects the charge going below a certain threshold. Great if you are leaving the car parked for long periods. I have a 600cca bosch battery, cost me about $150 6 years ago, still reads 12.3v after car has been sitting for a week or two. Normally its around 12.5v. No need for expensive batteries. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/429337-oil-catch-can/#findComment-6955851 Share on other sites
