Synx 3000 is definitely not a crappy oil. And I did mention stock M35... I would still run it in mine without hesitation. Whacky logic? Ok... Sure... There are plenty of Stagea's running around on it without issue.

We are driving low priced cars now, I was offered a working Stagea for 6k the other day... If you feel the need to blow $170 on an oil change, go right ahead.

Synx 3000 is a only semi-syn, and AFAICT GW don't publish HTHS specs either. Running a semi in a turbo car is not worth it IMO.

By whacky logic, i mean that you're suggesting a shorter OCI (which is more conservative) but a lower grade of oil (which is less conservative). To me that combo is mixed up.

No need to blow $170 when the Valvoline and Shell are in the $60-65 range, and you can get 6 quarts of American M1 on ebay (so no Australia tax) for $70.

What's wrong with a semi, better than running around with a raging boner...

US spec M1, isn't that a 0w? Go for it I say, see if you logic holds... I will stick to what works.

Very interesting read on oil if you have the time to read the article...

Can't read; Emo forum wants me to be their friend.

I thought Emo's were happy alone?

How much does the Neo cost? Unless its cheap I would just get the same weight in something else full synth. Its good, but there's plenty of good oils around.

Neo's about 120 for 5 lts.....but its good for 8-15k on a standard setup.

Ouch. On most motors if you're paying that much you'd be better off with Redline or Motul 300V which IMO are better oils at about the same price. Maybe the neo additive pack works particularly well with the vq25det?

its just whats in it at the moment, 2nd change since new turbo, thought i stick with it as i do give it alot on a regular basis. i dont like 5k intervals. i like 8-10k

huh? Tried redline.....the 32 burn's it......while Motul is good it still doesn't match up to the Neo. The last time we used Motul it came out of our engine pretty black.....the Motul always comes out clean.

The Neo comes out clean I assume?

Clean means the detergents aren't working well, which probably means it is more of a race engine oil.

this is correct

How did you make the assessment that it was burnt? Or do you mean you had to top up?

In what way did the Motul not match up to the Neo?

Figured out it didn't stand up as well the same way we do it at the end if every race meeting. Dumped it and sent it for sampling.

I've used Liqui-Moly LEICHTLAUF SPECIAL LL 5W-30 for about the last 15000km at 5000km change intervals. My car's very close to stock with 70000km. Never had any problems with this oil, as far as noise or consumption goes, and happy with performance. It's long-life approved for BMW, MB, VW etc, but I just use it cause we only use Liqui-Moly at work and it's the one their website recommends for our engine. I get the LL for free but if I wanted to pay and probably after car gets nearer to 100k I think ill put the LEICHTLAUF HIGH TECH 5W-40 in.

I'd recommend Liqui-Moly oils to anyone but I wouldn't try change your mind at all if you've found a brand you like and trust.

one enthusiast in Russia made a great job

it's not close to you, because our oils are too different, even when they have same names

but it's GREAT. use google translate and look at pics. take a pleasure at looking

i found this one some months ago, and happy that run the Aimol 5-40 oil since 2008 on my third Stagea now. 240000 km on it on current car.

Analysis of Valvoline Syn Power 5W-40 below. OCI was 5500kms. I found out from the manual that the factory OCI is 5000kms not 10000kms.

Interesting points are;

- High silicon - my guess is that this is due to the horrible old air filter that was in the car when i bought it. Will check again to see if this has come back to normal next change

- The oil has sheared down to a 30 weight. Not a particular problem in itself since there is no abnormal wear, and Nissan speced down to a 0W-20 for the motor. However, all the info i see here and on BITOG is that VQ motors are tough on oil. The loss of viscosity supports that, however, I dont know how shear stable SynPower is. FYI the published viscosity for SynPower is 13.9, after 5500kms its at 11.9.

- TBN is still really high at 9.1, most are happy to run down to about 1 before condemning the oil. This is an indicator of additive level. Additives get used up in use.

    • Welcome to SAU, what are you looking at buying?
    • I checked the injectors again (1 and 2, since they’re easiest to access) to make sure they weren’t clogged. Even though the entire fuel system had been cleaned, I wanted to be certain. Everything looked clean, so I reinstalled and connected everything. When I started the car to confirm everything was okay, it immediately revved up high, so I shut it off straight away. I checked to see if I’d missed a vacuum hose or something, but everything was connected. On the second attempt, the car ran without the high idle, but I noticed a distinct “compressed air” sound coming from the engine bay. Tracing the sound, I pushed injector #6 forward slightly and the noise stopped — it turned out it wasn’t seated properly, despite the fuel rail being bolted down. While holding it in place, the car idled steadily without stalling and ran for over 5 minutes. At this point, I pulled all six injectors out just in case I hadn’t seated them correctly or dirt had gotten onto the O-rings. Unfortunately, I discovered that I had damaged 3 out of 6 injectors (the OEM 270cc ones) during installation. So yes, this was my fault. Since only the pintle caps were damaged, I’ve ordered a Fuel Injector Service Kit from NZEFI to refurbish them. In the meantime, I reinstalled my new injectors – the car now idles fine for over 15 minutes without stalling. I have not attempted to drive it so far. It’s not perfect yet, as it hesitates when the throttle is pressed, but it’s a big improvement. Unplugging the IACV with the new injectors idles at around 800rpm, even with the IACV screw tightened fully. But this is probably due to tune.
    • I wanted to try and preserve the front bumper as long as possible, they're not cheap and are made to order in Japan. Taking inspiration from my previous K11 Micra build where I made an undertray for the Impul bumper, I did the same for this BN Sports bumper but a little slimmed down.  This time round I only made a 'skid plate' (if that's the correct wording/term) for just the bumper surface area, the Micra version covered the gap like an undertray. Starting off with a sheet of mild steel approx. 0.9mm thick 4ft x 2ft in size. I traced around the bumper, cut it out and cleaned the edges. Luckily I was able to get two halves from one piece of metal In the video I installed it as is, but I've since then I've removed it to spray and add a rubber edging trim. The rubber trim is suitable for 1-2mm and it's a really nice tight fit. The bolts had to be loosened due to the plates being too tight against the bumper, the trim wouldn't push on I used some stainless M6 flat headed bolts for a flusher finish (rather than hex heads poking down), I believe this style fastener is used for furniture too incase you struggle to source some. The corner's are a little wider, but this may be an advantage incase I get close to bumping it  The front grill got some attention, finally getting round to repairing it. Upon removal one fixing pulled itself out of the plastic frame, one side is M8 that fixes inside of the frame, where as the other side is M5. Not knowing I could get replacements, I cut down an M8 bolt, threaded it inside the frame along with a decent amount of JB Weld.  The mesh was replaced to match the bumper. One hole on the bonnet/hood had to be drilled out to 8mm to accommodate the new stud, once the glue had set it could be refitted. I think the reason the grill was double meshed was to hide the horn/bonnet latch (which makes sense) but I much prefer it matching the bumper Bumper refitted and it's looking much better IMO The Youtube video can be seen here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bVZP35io9MA
    • The video for the servicing and fuel filter change can be seen here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uLJ65pmQt44 One of the main jobs I wanted to do before the car officially went on the road, was to remove the awful looking blue silicone hoses. There's nothing wrong with having coloured silicone hoses, but I realise as I'm getting older I prefer monotone engine bays with a splash of colour on the engine cover(s). I cover this in a lot more detail in the Youtube video, so unfortunately there's limited photos of the process. The intercooler, upper radiator, boost vacuum and upper breather hoses were all changed to black silicone with mikalor clamps. The only blue left is a blanking cap at the back of the inlet manifold and the GReddy pulleys (which will be replaced for stock when the cambelt gets replaced) While the intercooler pipes were off I gave them a quick clean/polish too A before photo I do have a replacement air filter on its way. Fuse box covers were painted blue, they're now satin black Another job on the list while the bumper was off, is to add some mesh https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/54737966256_99b28bfa30_c.jpg[/img] I was hoping to use some thin wire to secure it, but it seems I've misplaced it and the wire I had was too thick to twist easily. I ended up using cable ties for the time being https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/54737131882_c2b7989dcc_c.jpg[/img] Was pleasant to see this https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/54737131627_8b2aab13b3_c.jpg[/img] The last thing to do was to fix the front grill and re-mesh that to match but I ran out of time The Youtube video can be seen here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R4FsF6tgizE&t=23s
