Hello, my name is mik and my car is broken.

Its got a little shimmy in the front left brake.

I think its the radius rod mount. the hole has been enlarged by bad previous owners driving into something.

Weld a plate? New k frame? Them brace gk tech thingys?

  • 2 weeks later...

Mine has been fine, but I've been too scared to use the high beams :P

It wasn't the alternator. I'm thinking it might be the clamps on the battery? Tats said he had a similar issue where doing just one "extra" thing stole too much power and made the car shut down and he discovered one of his clamps hanging off.

Mine aren't hanging off, but I've had problems with them before.

^ depending on the type of battery, some have a removable plastic washer at the base of the terminals, which when taken off, lets you clamp them down better

I know my car has a slightly wonky earth somewhere, so this week I am determined to fix it

I checked those. Didnt move by hand. But doesnt hurt to nip them up a bit

Yeah I know, they're clamped on good but when I had issues before they were too - it was more a bit of a build up of gunk that was doing it and making the connection fail, rather than any looseness.

I figured with a brand new battery it would all be clean and sorted, but maybe the clamps are still gunky on the inside?

Yeah that would be great! The "poles" (lol) should be fine cos it's a brand new battery... typical, it's the male part playing up!! :P

I think I need to buy some of that terminal spray stuff to try as well.

    • It's funny, as Ive seen plenty of people use them in cheap builds on YT. And they actually go okay, even though a lot of other maxspeedingrods stuff is terrible. Those turbos seem reliable enough, the only part being, a good quality turbo that is "identical" to it, will out perform it day in and day out. In both a lower boost threshold, and the ability to flow more air at the same boost pressure. As a cheap cheap replacement, not a terrible choice. For cheap and shouldn't blow in a day, not terrible (like other eBay/Temu turbos) for low cost and still decent performance, that's where the question comes in to play from the results I've seen. I'd actually find it hilarious to buy one, and strap it to a paddock basher or some other cheap as POS originally NA car, and send it to the moon!
    • The maxpeedingrods turbo is cheap and bolts on to stock parts. I think you just need a bigger silicone coupler for the intake. Its a cheap china turbo, but it's been running on mine for almost 3 years at 16-19 psi.
    • What do they look like right after you've tried to start it with everything connected? Also post photos of what they actually look like.
